Chapter 1289: Chapter 1291 Barbarian Clan Prophecy_1 Chapter 1289: Chapter 1291 Barbarian Clan Prophecy_1 In the depths of the forest, several mbers of the barbarian tribe were cutting raw at to chew, and they even shared the blood of the beasts, drinking it among themselves.

They always seed very happy, occasionally bursting into hearty laughter.

However, their mouths were sared with fresh blood, making them resemble uncivilized savages.

Sangta snorted coldly when he saw the black panther returning from the distance, and continued to eat his raw at.

The thin man beside him also snorted, “The black panther went to see that woman.

Aren’t you worried, Prince, that you might raise an ingrate?”

Sangta’s knife flew out and stabbed into the rabbit head in the thin man’s hand, startling him.

“That woman will sooner or later be the beast-wife of this prince.

What ingrate?” Sangta said displeased.

The thin man shrank his neck, “Right, right, it was my needless worry.”

Bai Ruozhu did not witness this scene and could not possibly have imagined that the black panther’s action was voluntary.

She did not want the wild rabbit sent by Sangta, but later she thought to keep it for Muyu, to clean it up and nourish the two patients later on.

Jiang Yichun’s face was cold all the while, grinding his teeth as he looked into the depths of the forest, as if he could hardly wait to drag Sangta out and give him a good beating.

That evening, Qingyan had another fever, but fortunately, he managed to pull through once again.

Even Bai Ruozhu had to admit that Qingyan really had a strong constitution for soone of his age to survive such an ordeal.

The next morning, before they set off, Qingyan had fully regained consciousness, and he even struggled to get up to kowtow and thank Bai Ruozhu when he saw her.

Bai Ruozhu quickly pressed him down, “I don’t like to see people kowtow.

If you reopen your wound, I will have to treat you again, so don’t trouble further.”

Qingyan then refrained from insisting and took out a dark stone from his person, handing it to Bai Ruozhu, “I have nothing valuable except for this family heirloom.

My life was saved by you; please accept this as a token of my gratitude.”

Bai Ruozhu could not discern what the dark stone was, and it did not appear to be Min Yu, but she had no intention of accepting it and thus did not inquire further.

“No need, it was just a small effort.

Since it’s a family heirloom, you should keep it yourself.

Our journey ahead won’t be easy, and once we arrive at the next city, you’ll have to find a place to recover on your own.

It’s better to have sothing with you,” she gently suggested Qingyan leave, as she had already saved his life, but his identity was unknown, and it was inconvenient for the group to keep him.

Qingyan sighed and said, “I am from the Western Regions, but my family has dwindled, and I have no relatives who can help.

If you could take to Gaochang, I could find my old classmates for assistance.”

Seeing his gray hair, Bai Ruozhu thought of her own father, who was a few years younger than this man, and felt so compassion.

However, she could not decide on her own and had to ask Achun’s opinion.

With this in mind, she did not agree to Qingyan’s request and instead changed the subject.

“How did you encounter the beast attack?

Was it Sangta’s Beast Team?”

Qingyan shook his head, “If it had been Prince Sangta’s Beast Team, I’m afraid I would have been torn to pieces already.

I live in a nearby village and had gone hunting in the mountains with the hope of trading so animal hides for food.

Unfortunately, I encountered a wild boar that gored my stomach with its tusks.

I thought I was going to die, but then soone shot the boar dead, and a few n from the Barbarian Clan, laughing, laid on the back of a beast and threw onto the main road.”

“Was it Sangta who saved you?” Bai Ruozhu asked with so skepticism.

“I’m not sure.

At that ti, I was in so much pain, I was barely conscious.

I only rember it was several barbarians, and it seed like one of them said: ‘Let’s see if that woman will save him.'” Qingyan showed a remorseful expression.

“I think they were talking about you.

Did saving bring you trouble?”

Bai Ruozhu could probably guess what Sangta and his n were planning, they wanted to see just how skilled her dical techniques were, and Qingyan, severely wounded, beca the bait to test her.

“No need, you rest well, and make sure not to reopen your wound.” Bai Ruozhu contemplated and felt that she should keep him around for a few more days, at the very least until she had removed the stitches from his stomach, to prevent others from discovering them.

Seeing Bai Ruozhu about to leave, Chu Hai, who had been silent, followed her out and called her aside to talk.

“Ruozhu, that man doesn’t quite look like he’s from the Western Regions, his accent is a bit off, but I can’t be completely sure,” Chu Hai whispered.

Bai Ruozhu’s expression changed, “Are you saying he’s from the Barbarian Clan?”

“His features don’t quite match either, I’m afraid he might be a spy,” Chu Hai said.

“If he went to such lengths to approach us by inflicting such a grave injury on himself, it seems a bit far-fetched.

If he’s on the verge of death, how can he continue being a spy?” Bai Ruozhu felt that Qingyan’s gaze was clear and didn’t seem like the nefarious sort.

“That’s why I’m also uncertain, but still, be extra cautious on the road,” Chu Hai said.

The towns thereafter were a bit farther apart, and on their way, they had to cross a mountain range.

The group camped out in the wild at night, and it was roughly a two-day journey to reach the next village.

Nilu brought out a bag of powder as if presenting a treasure to Bai Ruozhu, saying, “Madam, this is a powder commonly used by rchant teams to repel beasts and insects.

Sprinkle this when camping out at night, and it will save us from a lot of trouble.”

Bai Ruozhu took the drug powder and looked at it.

His words were indeed true, but to her, the powder seed rather average; naturally, it wasn’t as good as what she could mix herself.

“Not bad, you’ll be in charge of sprinkling the beast repelling powder,” Bai Ruozhu deliberately assigned Nilu an important task.

“Yes, I shall obey,” Nilu said with a grin.

Over the past few days, he had noticed that Jiang Yichun was cold as a judge of hell, he dared not approach him, whereas Bai Ruozhu was easier to talk to.

With matters of business also being decided by Bai Ruozhu, he quickly figured out who his real master was.

“Nilu, have you heard of any prophecies left by the great shaman of the Barbarian Clan?” Bai Ruozhu suddenly asked.

Jiang Yichun, who didn’t think highly of Nilu, pricked up his ears upon hearing this.

Nilu’s complexion changed, and he looked around as if he feared that soone from the Barbarian Tribe might be eavesdropping.

“Madam, how do you know about this?

Isn’t it supposed to be a closely guarded secret?” Nilu asked in a low voice.

“Sangta himself ntioned it, just tell anything you’ve heard,” she prompted.

Nilu’s expression beca even more surprised, the madam had actually conversed with Sangta and survived!

Imdiately, Bai Ruozhu’s stature in his heart rose by a level, and he dared not harbor even the slightest ill intentions he had previously held.

“I’ve heard that the prophecy is about their future king, who seems capable of leading them to glory,” Nilu said, scratching his head, “That’s all I know.

Those who run the trades like to gossip, but when it cos to this, no one dares to speak more.”

Bai Ruozhu felt it definitely couldn’t be that simple.

If the person of the prophecy was their king, Sangta would surely have wished her dead, not alive.

Which prince would allow an outsider to beco their competitor, taking their throne?
