Chapter 1497: Chapter 1598: Apologize and Admit Your Mistake in Public_1

Bai Ruozhu was just listening, and she already felt chilled to the bone. What sort of feeling must Jiang Yichun have experienced having witnessed it all?

“When I realized what was happening, quite a few heads had already fallen. At that mont, it wasn’t suitable to continue with the mission. However, I sent a signal, so although we completed the mission, our side also suffered so injuries,” he said with a stern expression, afraid that Bai Ruozhu would think of Ling, he hurriedly added, “Additionally, two Shadow Guards were severely wounded, I was almost unable to report to the Emperor.”

Bai Ruozhu, still imrsed in shock, had no mind to argue with him about the matter with Ling.

“Earlier, I received news from the Comrce Association that Yang Tianhua had been slaughtering civilians, so I ordered Jianqi to instruct the Comrce Branch to discreetly spread the news and to bring witnesses into the Capital. It seems that it has been effective now,” Bai Ruozhu said.

“The Comrce Association has indeed made a great contribution this ti. Just now, I received news that the local Comrce Branch was raided by Yang Family’s army, with mbers fleeing in all directions. As of now, Anxia Town no longer has a Comrce Branch,” Jiang Yichun said.

Bai Ruozhu was alard, “The Yang Family has really rebelled! Have I caused harm to the people of the Anxia Town Comrce Branch by doing this?”

Seeing her frown, Jiang Yichun reached out to smooth the space between her eyebrows, saying gently, “Fool, the people of the Comrce Association were prepared. There won’t be any casualties. Even if you hadn’t sent the ssage, the other elders would have done the sa upon learning the news.”

Although he said that, Bai Ruozhu still felt a heavy weight in her heart. She felt even more that Yang Tianhua had to be dealt with soon, along with the rest of the Yang Family.

Seeing that Bai Ruozhu and her husband had returned together, the old couple of the Bai Family breathed a huge sigh of relief, knowing that the two had reconciled.

However, during dinner, Bai Zepei didn’t return, saying that he had been kept by the Emperor for official duties, presumably to deal with the civilians of Anxia Town filing their Imperial Decrees.

That evening, back in their room, Jiang Yichun asked Bai Ruozhu in detail about the two assassination attempts she had experienced. Bai Ruozhu recounted each incident, but she didn’t ntion Gao Zhou, fearing that he truly wanted to get close to Achun through her. She didn’t even ntion inviting Gao Zhou for a al the next day at noon.

With their reunion, naturally, there was a period of affectionate entwinent, ear-to-ear whispers. Jiang Yichun, touching her scar that had significantly faded, felt his fingers tremble slightly. He then held her tightly in his arms.

Every ti he saw that scar, he would rember the cruelty and ruthlessness he had shown that day, the thought that he had almost lost her forever sent a wave of fear through him, making him wish he could inflict a thousand such wounds on himself.

Bai Ruozhu noticed the regret and pain in his eyes, cupped his face, and asked him to look straight into her eyes, saying, “I don’t bla you anymore but it still hurts to think about it. So, you can’t dwell on it either; otherwise, aren’t you just reminding of it all the ti?”

He stared into her eyes and slowly kissed her. Her eyes were like the brightest stars in the sky. He couldn’t bear to see such sadness tinge them, nor did he wish to see tears of sorrow fall from such eyes.

His kiss gently landed, with a mix of carefulness and restrained passion. As clothing was shed, pieces fell away inch by inch…

The next morning, Bai Ruozhu went into her Space to soak in the Hot Spring, which soothed her sore body. Jiang Yichun had already left for the morning court. After breakfast with Dengdeng, she changed into her Official Uniform and headed to the Imperial dical Hospital.

As soon as she arrived at the entrance, she spotted a familiar figure. Her eyebrows slightly knitted—hadn’t they decided not to accept Hao Baishuang? Who had brought this person in?

Hao Baishuang lifted her chin, looking haughty as she said, “It was Grand Princess Huilan who recomnded for the Imperial dical Hospital, and I have also taken Master Mao Yanshi as my ntor. Now what do you have to say?”

Bai Ruozhu sneered, “You do have so skill, whether you found her or she found you. Nevertheless, it’s all the sa, you’re rely a pawn.”

Without another word, she headed straight for the Female Physicians Institution. Inside the Imperial dical Hospital, Jiu Sheng was glaring at Mao Xingcai with a look of rage, “Mao Yanshi, you have to accept the consequences of the bet you lost. Not only have you not apologized to my master, but you also brought in soone my master refused to enter the Female Physicians Institution. Are you doing this on purpose to oppose my master?”

Mao Xingcai’s old face turned beet red. “Jiu Sheng, I am the Yanshi, and you are my subordinate. Is this how you speak to those above you?”

“That depends on whether you act like soone worthy of your position. That woman, after helping a mother give birth, imdiately hard soone because of a personal grudge, utterly disregarding the safety of the mother and baby. Does such a person deserve to serve as an Imperial Doctor in the palace?” Jiu Sheng shouted indignantly.

The color of Mao Xingcai’s face changed. “Is that so?” he said, sighing without waiting for Jiu Sheng’s answer. “Yelling at is pointless; if soone known to Grand Princess Huilan recomnded her, it’s not my place to say ‘no’.”

“You…” Jiu Sheng sighed and, with a flick of his sleeve, turned to leave.

“Go and ask Master Bai to co here. I will apologize to her in public,” Mao Xingcai said, red-faced, and turned his head away, looking extrely awkward.

Jiu Sheng was stunned for a mont, then realizing it was about the bet, hurriedly went to call Bai Ruozhu from the Female Physicians Institution. Bai Ruozhu hadn’t expected Mao Xingcai to be so aware, but she was not the least bit inclined to go easy on him. Accepting the terms of a wager was only right, and after all, what was a simple apology?

When Mao Xingcai saw her, his old face reddened even more, almost bloating to the color of a liver.

“I am not a sore loser,” he said. “I should not have underestimated you because you are a woman, doubting your dical skills. Since I lost to you, I will apologize to you here in front of everyone. I am ashad, and from now on, I will not trouble you or the Female Physicians Institution again!” Mao Xingcai spoke very quickly, as if gasping for breath, and bowed to Bai Ruozhu in the end.

Bai Ruozhu made a gesture of acceptance, saying, “Master Mao, you are too kind. In the future, we can all learn from each other.”

Mao Xingcai’s directness was sowhat endearing, and she was not one to keep a grudge against an elder. Yet in Hao Baishuang’s eyes, a cold light flashed. She had gone to great lengths thinking she could dominate Bai Ruozhu, expecting to see Bai Ruozhu shake in anger, only to witness her newly sworn master humiliating himself by apologizing to Bai Ruozhu. What did that make her? Wasn’t she told that her master was the Yanshi of the Imperial dical Hospital? How could he lack such spine?

Clenching her lower lip, Hao Baishuang’s hatred deepened, feeling like a clown who was ridiculed by Bai Ruozhu once again.

In fact, Bai Ruozhu barely even acknowledged her existence, let alone care about her, as long as she was not in the Female Physicians Institution.

Just then, Mao Xingcai’s body swayed, and suddenly his eyes rolled back as he collapsed backwards. The surrounding Imperial Doctors cried out in alarm, but fortunately, soone quick-witted caught him before he hit the ground.

“Bai Ruozhu, do you want to drive my master to his death?” Hao Baishuang suddenly shouted.
