Bai Ruozhu rolled her eyes at him, expressing her dissatisfaction, but with the servants watching, she didn’t want to embarrass him too much.

"Don’t just stand at the door, let’s go inside and talk." She said, turning towards the yard, wondering why she should stay behind? Was she, pregnant and all, supposed to help Gai Yalai?

Jiang Yichun lifted the carriage curtain, helping Gai Yalai down from the horse carriage, with the nanny supporting her from the other side.

Wearing a gauze cap, her expression was indiscernible, but her walk appeared extrely weak.

"Achun, I’m carrying this illness, it’s better not to enter soone’s residence. It wouldn’t be good to spread the ailnt to others, would it?" Gai Yalai’s voice was soft and her breath heavy, as if speaking was a struggle, her tone filled with apprehension and nervousness, making Jiang Yichun’s heart tighten.

Along the way, it wasn’t as if he wasn’t resentful towards his mother. The incident of Xue Junwang’s betrayal and framing made him harbor so resentnt towards Gai Yalai, but as her illness progressed without redy, growing more severe, worry and helplessness dominated his thoughts.

He even felt that his mother probably wouldn’t live much longer, and with her near death, could he still hold grudges over past grievances?

At this mont, his mother’s lancholy added to his distress.

"This is Ruozhu’s place, not a stranger’s ho. Mother, don’t overthink it; Ruozhu will cure you," Jiang Yichun said.

Bai Ruozhu walked ahead, not too far away, listening clearly to their conversation and couldn’t help but curl her lips. Was that guy too confident in her dical skills? What did he an by "Ruozhu will cure you"? What if she couldn’t?

Frankly speaking, Bai Ruozhu didn’t want to treat Gai Yalai. She wasn’t exactly a doctor, so why adhere to so physician’s benevolence principle? Besides, Gai Yalai had people tie up Ruolan!

Driven by anger, she walked much faster, while behind her, Gai Yalai softly told Jiang Yichun, "The host isn’t here, making it inconvenient. I’d better stay at an inn."

Originally, Bai Ruozhu and Lin Ping’er had co out to welco them, but since Bai Ruolan was bound, Lin Ping’er was also angry and took Bai Ruolan away, not wanting to appear.

Suddenly, Bai Ruozhu in front turned and swiftly walked back, moving so fast that Jiang Yichun worried she might jostle her belly. Just as he was about to advise a few words, Gai Yalai let out a gasp and backed away in fright.

Bai Ruozhu twitched her mouth. What did this an? Did Gai Yalai fear she might hit soone?

"My mother ca to greet you just now, but Ruolan was tied up and frightened, so my mother had to take her away, sorry for the neglect, please forgive, Madam Xue," she finished, glancing at Jiang Yichun, "I wonder if this address is appropriate? I reside in this corner of the Northwest with scarce insight; if there’s anything wrong, please directly inform , Madam Xue."

The implied ssage was for her to directly voice any concerns, not to stealthily stab; her previous words clearly suggested the Bai Family was unwelcoming and lacked hospitality etiquette.

Jiang Yichun looked slightly embarrassed, quickly supporting Bai Ruozhu, "Take it slow, you’re carrying twins, be more careful."

Gai Yalai, upon hearing this, showed disdain from behind her veil.

"Ruozhu, it’s been a long ti since we t, we’re all family, call mother like Achun does, why be so formal with ’Madam’?" Gai Yalai weakly urged.

Bai Ruozhu mused that she certainly wasn’t dying; if she was critically ill, where would she find the energy and thought to engage in these mind gas?

She wondered what Achun had seen earlier, to think her illness was severe.

She glanced at Jiang Yichun, thinking that if he was willing to call her, she would follow suit. After all, it was just a title.

"Let’s talk inside," Jiang Yichun said with a dark expression, supporting Bai Ruozhu forward. Bai Ruozhu shook off his arm, "My belly hasn’t grown so big I can’t walk. Go support your mother."

Jiang Yichun glanced at her, letting out a silent sigh, deciding not to support anyone and walked forward.

After walking for a while, he turned back, saying, "Ruozhu, my mother still needs treatnt, why not first settle her in our yard?"

Bai Ruozhu gave him a cold look. Why hadn’t he discussed this with her beforehand?

"Do as you see fit," Bai Ruozhu said with a chilly expression.

Could she really say no and kick people out? If truth be told, Gai Yalai hadn’t done anything to her, there was no serious enmity between them, and making a fuss would make it hard for her side to justify.

Once they arrived at the yard, Bai Ruozhu instructed Min Xiang and the others to prepare a guest room, then guided Gai Yalai to the main hall.

"Take off the gauze cap, let Ruozhu have a look," Jiang Yichun suggested to Gai Yalai, but still refrained from calling her "mother."

Gai Yalai slowly removed the gauze cap. Bai Ruozhu glanced once and couldn’t help but shiver. No wonder Achun thought her illness was severe; the red rash on her skin was terrifying, with many areas oozing pus. Although they were small spots, there were many of them, and for Bai Ruozhu, who had a bit of trypophobia, it gave her the creeps.

Of course, she was a doctor and had seen worse, but circumstances were different now. She was pregnant and had been experiencing morning sickness earlier. Seeing this made her stomach churn again.

Urgh... Bai Ruozhu couldn’t hold back, suddenly gagging, darting outside to vomit on the side.

Gai Yalai began to cry softly, hurriedly covering her face with a hood. The nanny beside her quickly comforted, "Madam, don’t overthink it, the young lady is pregnant, it’s normal for morning sickness."

But Gai Yalai covered her face, continuing to sob.

Jiang Yichun felt a headache, wanting to check on Bai Ruozhu, but his mother clung to his arm, crying desolately, "Achun, do you think I’m beyond help? I look frightening, I really don’t want to scare Ruozhu. I—I don’t want to have this strange disease either. Do you think it might be the Xue Family poisoning ?"

Jiang Yichun wanted to shake off her hand but couldn’t bear it, instead persuading, "Once Ruozhu examines you, we’ll know. Even if it’s poisoning, there’s no need to fear; once the poison is expelled, you’ll recover."

He soothed Gai Yalai with a few more words, finally freeing his arm to go outside to check on Bai Ruozhu. Unfortunately, as he turned around, his wife had already cleaned her mouth and was walking towards him.

He hurriedly stepped forward, "Ruozhu, are you okay?"

Bai Ruozhu shot him a cold glance, "Not dying."

His heart sank; could he not discern the anger and disappointnt in his wife’s words? He was definitely in trouble for having seriously upset her.

Bai Ruozhu ignored him, striding towards Gai Yalai, grabbing her wrist for a pulse check, but soon her brow furrowed tightly. After feeling the pulse, she withdrew her hand, only to place it down once more for another pulse check.
