Chapter 1785: Chapter 1785: Failed Suicide Attempt
“How did you guess that?” Gao Zhou squinted his eyes as he laughed, “It’s just that wearing a mask in my past life beca a habit, so I’m not afraid of not being able to breathe.”
Bai Ruozhu twitched at the corner of his mouth. Could he be any more shaless?
“Okay, okay, quickly tell what’s going on, don’t interrupt my mask making.” Gao Zhou looked like he was trying to rush him off.
“I heard you saved my Achun. Was it a coincidence, or did you purposely save him? You don’t seem like the kind of person to be free?” Bai Ruozhu stared at Gao Zhou’s face and asked.
Even though he was wearing a human-skin mask, the expression under the mask could vividly be shown to make it more realistic. She needed to see his reaction upon hearing this.
“Just a lift of the hand. Even if it were soone else, I’d save them,” Gao Zhou said seemingly casually, but there was so panic in his eyes.
Bai Ruozhu secretly laughed. This guy must be hiding sothing, afraid that she’ll find out, and it’s sothing related to Achun!
“Oh, then do a good deed all the way. My mother-in-law has a mysterious illness, lots of red spots have ulcerated on her body, and it’s contagious to whoever touches. I can’t cure it, can you take a look?” Bai Ruozhu continued.
Gao Zhou’s beard curled up, and he said sternly, “No, I won’t look! That woman bothers a lot; I don’t want to look!”
“Isn’t it just because she behaved too inadequately in the past? But you are the Divine Doctor; saving one life is better than building a Seven-level Pagoda. Is it worth not saving soone over such a small matter?” Bai Ruozhu said with a smile.
“Not looking, not looking!” Gao Zhou waved his hand, “What’s a Divine Doctor? I choose to see whoever I want to see, not see who I don’t want to see!”
Facing Gao Zhou’s rogue-like attitude, Bai Ruozhu felt utterly helpless. This person is of so age and still acts like this; who knows what he was like when young.
At this mont, footsteps could be heard from outside, “Ruozhu, are you in there?”
It was Jiang Yichun’s voice. Bai Ruozhu was a bit surprised. How did Achun find this place? Could it also be to find the Divine Doctor for his mother’s illness?
Seeing Gao Zhou, his face suddenly turned very unpleasant. He said sternly, “You said you’d help keep my two identities secret, so why bring your husband here?”
Bai Ruozhu smiled bitterly, “I didn’t call him here; I’ll go out and ask. Anyway, if you’re like this, I’ll just say you’re the Divine Doctor, Senior.”
Gao Zhou snorted, sulking and ignoring Bai Ruozhu.
“Achun, how did you find this place?” Bai Ruozhu pushed the door open and asked.
“Lady Le is in trouble; the Emperor has summoned you to the Palace. I couldn’t find you at ho, and I thought you were here learning chanical Technique with Senior Ji.” Jiang Yichun explained.
“What’s wrong with Lady Le?” Bai Ruozhu frowned, feeling that it wasn’t good news.
Jiang Yichun lowered his voice, “Attempted suicide.”
Bai Ruozhu wasn’t too surprised; Lady Le’s mood disorder evidently worsened.
“Who’s inside?” Jiang Yichun glanced behind Bai Ruozhu.
“It’s the Divine Doctor, Senior. I wanted him to take a look at your mother, but…” Bai Ruozhu shook her head.
Jiang Yichun imdiately understood that the Divine Doctor had a poor impression of his mother.
“The senior once saved my life; I should express my gratitude.” Jiang Yichun said as he knocked on the door; inside, Gao Zhou responded irritably, “What now, I don’t want to go to the Palace!”
Bai Ruozhu held back her laugh, “You’ve run into it; if the Emperor finds out, it wouldn’t be good. Why don’t you co along, let’s study mood disorders, and that would benefit the Ancient Tis, right?”
Jiang Yichun frowned, Ancient Tis? What’s that?
Gao Zhou glanced at her sideways, stood up, and said, “Forget it, forget it, under the heaven, all belongs to the king. I better not anger your Emperor.”
After he said this, he flicked his sleeves and walked out. Jiang Yichun hurriedly greeted him, but he felt sothing was off, as if the Divine Doctor seed different from usual.
It took him a while to realize that the Divine Doctor was missing a dicine box.
The three of them boarded the horse carriage together, heading towards the Guest Palace.
Gao Zhou seed displeased, leaning against a corner of the carriage, resting with his eyes closed. Bai Ruozhu signaled to Jiang Yichun to look at Gao Zhou, hoping he would notice anything different.
Jiang Yichun looked but didn’t express anything.
Bai Ruozhu felt bored, so she also closed her eyes to rest.
“What about the people around Lady Le? What about Ling Xue?” Bai Ruozhu suddenly opened her eyes and asked.
“I haven’t had the chance to check yet. It seems Lady Le sent Ling Xue away, and the Emperor wants to severely punish those people.” He emphasized, “Including Ling Xue.”
“So, the Emperor believes now?” Bai Ruozhu raised an eyebrow.
“Yes, otherwise, he wouldn’t be in a hurry to find you.” Jiang Yichun replied.
During their conversation, Gao Zhou didn’t join in, nor did he open his eyes, as if he were asleep.
It wasn’t until they arrived at the Main Gate of the Guest Palace and got off the carriage that Gao Zhou finally opened his eyes.
Jiang Yichun jumped off first, then cautiously helped Bai Ruozhu, and then went to assist Gao Zhou, only to be glared by Gao Zhou, “I’m not old enough that I can’t walk.”
“Yes, please go ahead, Senior.” Jiang Yichun chuckled awkwardly, stepping aside, a bit puzzled when looking at Gao Zhou.
Bai Ruozhu leaned over, tugged on his sleeve, and asked in a whisper, “Looks familiar?”
Jiang Yichun winked at her, helped her into the Palace Gate.
He felt the glare from the Divine Doctor was familiar, so he plans to observe without showing any signs.
The three of them rushed to Lady Le’s Bedchamber, where the Emperor had been waiting for quite a while, with a face so stern it seed like water droplets would fall.
“Your Majesty, I found my wife and the Divine Doctor, Senior, coming together, it took so ti.” Jiang Yichun explained.
Seeing the Divine Doctor also arrived, Tang Yin’s face slightly soothed.
“Lady Le’s bleeding has stopped, but her spirit is poor. Go and diagnose her.” Tang Yin said wearily.
Bai Ruozhu and Gao Zhou entered the inner chamber and imdiately slled a strong scent of blood, which made her feel nauseated. Gao Zhou worriedly looked at her and quickly went to push the window open.
The maid beside hurriedly said, “Sir, the window can’t be opened. Her Highness said she cannot be exposed to the wind; it gives her headaches.”
“Nonsense! The room is not ventilated; the illness gets trapped and can’t disperse. How can your mistress recover? Quickly open all the windows; it’s not cold, how much wind could there be?” Gao Zhou said sternly.
With the window opened, Bai Ruozhu felt much better. She silently nodded to Gao Zhou in gratitude, but he gave an arrogant look and ignored her while walking over to Lady Le’s bedside.
She had no choice but to follow over, noticing Lady Le’s pale face lying on the bed; her once rounded little face had beco sharp, her cheeks sunken in, covered by a blanket, only revealing this small face, making it seem like her whole body had thinned out.
Her left hand was slightly out of the blanket, Bai Ruozhu glanced at it, noticing the slender wrist wrapped in white gauze, with traces of red plum showing through.
“What happened to beco this way.” Beside her, Gao Zhou sighed.
