It’s easy to say, but Bai Ruozhu really didn’t want to wade into this ss anymore; she had already had too many dealings with the Barbarian Tribe.
"I am from Danliang, my parents and friends are all there. It’s really not suitable for to be the queen of the Barbarian Tribe, even temporarily. After all, the Barbarian Tribe once killed many Danliang rchants. I don’t want to bring trouble to my relatives and friends," Bai Ruozhu refused.
"This..." Sangrong saw Bai Ruozhu’s resolute attitude and didn’t know how to persuade her.
"Priest, Lord Sangji is back!" A guard ran over, saying excitedly.
"What? Is Sangji okay?" Sangrong, who appeared calm, also got excited, and his voice trembled slightly. He even forgot to greet Bai Ruozhu and walked straight out of the tent.
When he reached the tent entrance, he realized and turned back to salute Bai Ruozhu, saying, "Pardon , pardon , Bai madam, don’t mind . Sangji is the king’s younger brother and my nephew. We haven’t seen each other for several years."
"You go on ahead to see him; don’t worry about ," Bai Ruozhu said with a smile, following to join in the excitent.
The Barbarian Tribe seed particularly joyful because of Lord Sangji’s return. Bai Ruozhu noticed that Sangji looked about forty years old and bore so resemblance to Sangta. As for whether he looked like the late king, it was hard to tell, as the old king had been deford by the Zong Gu.
"Sangji, you finally returned! How is your health?" Sangrong walked over briskly and patted Sangji’s shoulder.
Sangji seed a bit weak, and his body swayed slightly with Sangrong’s pat. Sangrong realized and said sowhat apologetically, "I was too excited."
"What are you saying, Uncle? It’s my body that’s too frail," Sangji said with a slightly embarrassed smile, like a shy young man.
"Is your health still not good?" Sangrong asked worriedly.
Sangji smiled, "I’ve already lived these extra years with no regrets. My body is better now, but it was fundantally weak. The Divine Doctor who treated said I could live for a few more years if I took care of myself."
He spoke lightly, but everyone heard that he probably wouldn’t have many years left, so he returned to see his family and tribe.
Suddenly, everyone was silent, and the atmosphere was very oppressive.
Yet Sangji smiled, "Birth, aging, illness, and death are the most natural things. Being able to live a few more years is already a blessing from heaven, nothing to grieve over."
Bai Ruozhu silently nodded upon hearing this. Sangji seed to have a congenital weakness, and having such a generous attitude was comndable.
Sangrong pulled Sangji aside to inquire further, while Bai Ruozhu also asked a few people around, learning that Sangji was weak from birth. Nonetheless, he was very kind, often helping his tribespeople and never discriminating against the common folk, treating even the poorest slaves with courtesy.
One year, the Barbarian Tribe experienced the worst drought, and it was Sangji who ca up with a way to find water, saving a large number of tribespeople. He insisted on distributing the water to all the people rather than letting the aristocrats enjoy it alone, earning a high standing among the Barbarian Tribe’s citizens.
Unfortunately, Lord Sangji’s health was poor. Eight years ago, he got increasingly worse. The king sought many doctors but to no avail. Sangji later requested to take so people to search for dicine, saying that if he could find a Divine Doctor to cure him, he would return to the tribe.
Eight years had passed, and many thought Sangji had died outside, but unexpectedly, he returned alive.
"Bai madam, your dical skills are outstanding. Could you take a look at Lord Sangji? Perhaps there is still hope for him!" Soone nearby said, looking at Bai Ruozhu with bright eyes.
Others also turned to Bai Ruozhu, urging, "Bai madam, please take a look at Lord Sangji."
Bai Ruozhu nodded and walked over to Sangji, suggesting, "Let first check your pulse."
Sangji showed a surprised expression, not knowing who Bai Ruozhu was.
Sangrong simply introduced her, while Bai Ruozhu directly took his wrist to examine him.
Upon examining, Bai Ruozhu discovered that Sangji had a damaged heart ridian—a severe congenital heart condition. Surviving to this age was already a miracle.
Besides, he was overly worried. Though he seed calm on the surface, privately, he was severely anxious, making his physical condition very poor.
It was difficult for Bai Ruozhu to openly discuss Sangji’s limited chances, so she said, "This illness requires nurturing. Once the body is conditioned, there won’t be any problem, and he mustn’t be subjected to major stress."
She pointed to the heart, saying, "The ailnt lies in the heart."
Sangji showed a look of surprise, saying, "You have keen insight, Bai madam. That is indeed the case."
"Sangji is also tired. I’ll take you to rest and catch up with everyone later," Sangrong suggested.
Sangji smiled at everyone, saying, "Yes, I’ve missed out on many things during these years of absence. I should humbly learn from all of you later."
Bai Ruozhu observed from the side, thinking that this Lord Sangji wasn’t like the Barbarian Tribesn; his courtesy in speech made him resemble Zhongyuan scholars.
Additionally, she felt Sangji’s attitude towards her was indifferent, possibly because she was an outsider or perhaps he adhered to rules emphasizing the differences between n and won.
Soon, Bai Ruozhu and her group noticed Sangji’s good relations within the Barbarian Tribe. Despite being back for only half a day, the area outside the tent was piled with items—the tribe’s people secretly sent gifts, including freshly dug Cistanche.
"Ruozhu, the Barbarian King’s brother has returned; in Danliang, he’d be a prince, greatly loved by the people. He could act as Regent King, so you wouldn’t have to be the queen and worry too much," Jiang Yichun suggested to Bai Ruozhu.
Bai Ruozhu’s eyes lit up; indeed, the heavens were helping her, solving her dilemma with the Barbarian Tribe by having their own trusted person return.
Although Sangji was greatly loved by the Barbarian people, given his poor health and lack of progeny, even if he had any private ambitions, it would hardly affect Sangta’s return as king.
Of course, the most urgent matter was to find Sangta.
"That’s right, Ruozhu; Xiaojiang’s suggestion is good. You should speak to the king, so we can return to Beiyu City sooner," Yao Yuxuan chid in, missing the Empress Dowager.
Bai Ruozhu recalled her earlier promise to Yuxuan. Initially, she intended to speak privately with Jiang Yichun to have Jiang spontaneously recognize Yuxuan as a godfather. However, Jiang Yichun kept his distance and sowhat avoided her, leaving her no chance to bring it up.
Thinking of this, Bai Ruozhu said, "Mr. Yao is right. I will see the king shortly."
She turned to Jiang Yichun, proposing, "Achun, Mr. Yao has helped us so much. Why not recognize him as your godfather; we can also show our filial respect to him in the future."
Jiang Yichun was montarily stunned, but seeing Bai Ruozhu’s earnest expression, he guessed it was what Bai had previously arranged with Yao Yuxuan and imdiately nodded, "Alright, accepting my godfather, Yichun bows."
