Chapter 1856: Chapter 1856: He Finds Her Displeasing
“She’s pregnant, so don’t get too close.” Jiang Yichun said with a stern face, looking disdainfully at Princess Yingtong.
Seeing him, Yingtong shouted excitedly, “Jiang Yichun, you’re intact! That’s great! Otherwise, I wouldn’t know how to explain to Ruozhu!”
Chu Hai, behind her, pulled her gently and whispered, “You’re not fully recovered, take it easy.”
With those words, Yingtong imdiately turned into a soft-spoken wife, no longer manic, standing quietly on the side.
Bai Ruozhu was amazed, thinking that Chu Hai really had so tricks up his sleeve.
Bai Zebo quickly ca over to greet them, “Sister Ruozhu, brother-in-law, it’s so good that you’re all okay!”
“Zebo, how’s your injury? If you have any scars, your parents will scold .” Bai Ruozhu was equally excited for this young cousin, thinking he had faced a big ordeal on his first trip out. She thought he’d be scared witless, but he turned out to be quite heroic.
Bai Zebo scratched his head and laughed, “Sister Ruozhu, it’s just a surface wound; it’s almost healed. Please don’t ntion it to my parents when we return, so they won’t be too worried.”
This child is still filial. Bai Ruozhu nodded, “Alright, I won’t say anything. You’ve weathered the storm this ti and have grown up.”
Bai Zebo grinned. The Western Regions maid behind him supported him and softly reminded, “Young Master Bai, move gently, don’t strain the wound.”
Bai Ruozhu glanced at the maid, a pretty young girl with a gentle voice who seed quite dedicated to Bai Zebo.
The two sides exchanged pleasantries again, rearranged the team, and then continued toward Danliang.
“What, you almost beca the queen of the Barbarian Clan?” Yingtong, sitting in the horse carriage with Bai Ruozhu and Jiao Ling, was so surprised her jaw almost dropped when they talked about recent days.
Bai Ruozhu laughed, “I was afraid of trouble and kept dodging. Luckily, the king’s younger brother returned and took the position. I noticed so aristocrats were hesitant, having selfish motives, not wanting soone from my tribe to sit there.”
“What are you afraid of? As long as the people trust you, that’s enough. The Barbarian Tribe has no fixed abode, and the aristocrats only have a title without much privilege.” Yingtong said regretfully, “It would have been great if you beca the queen of the Barbarian Clan. I heard they have many lost secret techniques that only the king can study, not even the priests can peek.”
She sighed, “Otherwise, how do you think the Barbarian Tribe, with so few people and such harsh living conditions, has been passing down through generations?”
Jiao Ling nodded in agreent, “For a tribe to pass down through generations, they must have a foundation. That big Prince Sangdian of the Barbarian has probably seen those secret techniques, handling Xiaojiang’s blood sacrifice quite effectively.”
“Indeed, but how did you break the thousand-person blood sacrifice? Did you find so expert?” Yingtong looked worshipfully.
Bai Ruozhu rembered she once called Master Hao Feng a teacher, suggesting she was interested in matters of spells.
“The Doctor Saint went to visit a great master, but the master refused to co out of the mountain and finally taught him the thod of breaking the spell.” Bai Ruozhu replied.
Yingtong’s expression beca excited, “I’ll switch to another horse carriage ahead. I must talk to the Doctor Saint and learn from him.”
Bai Ruozhu imdiately thought of Gao Zhou’s impatient face, and her mouth twitched, saying, “He doesn’t know any spells, only learned that one thod to break it, can’t teach you much else.”
Yingtong imdiately deflated, reluctantly saying, “Learning how to break the thousand-person blood sacrifice is still good. Although it’s rare, it’s still useful to prepare.”
She quickly revived, looked mysteriously at Bai Ruozhu, and asked, “I heard the Barbarian Tribe has a Holy Artifact, held by successive kings, said to have the miraculous power to bring the dead back to life. Did you see it before the old king?”
Bai Ruozhu burst into laughter, “If it could bring the dead back to life, the king wouldn’t have died. There’d be no need to pass the throne to the next heir.”
Yingtong pouted, “Indeed, that’s quite exaggerated.”
When the team stopped to rest, Yingtong went directly to find Gao Zhou, while another horse carriage resounded with Gai Yalai’s screams.
“I’ve lost so much blood, can’t I have so replenishnt? Eating this hard dried food, do you want to die? Get lost, get out!”
Gai Yalai shared a carriage with Yingtong’s maid, who could care for Gai Yalai a bit. Since losing so blood from her wrist last ti, this woman had been frail ever since.
Originally, she was afraid of being discovered by Jiang Yichun to not be his real mother. But seeing Jiang Yichun was alright, she always felt strange and looked at Gao Zhou with suspicious eyes full of questions and scrutiny.
She suspected Gao Zhou but didn’t dare say much, otherwise, she’d be the first exposed.
After a few days like this, she cald down, seeing Jiang Yichun still polite to her. She was reassured and started causing trouble again.
“Madam, we are traveling, and these are all we have. Co night, when we find a place to stay, I shall try to make so soup for you, alright?” said the Western Regions maid carefully.
“Tonight? I’m seeing stars already, and you want to wait till night? Can you take responsibility if I faint?” Gai Yalai whined relentlessly.
Yingtong threw down the dried food she held and cursed, “Who does she think she is, daring to scold my maid?”
She said and wanted to confront Gai Yalai, but a black figure was faster than her.
Jiang Yichun lifted the carriage curtain, coldly staring at Gai Yalai, this woman who almost took his and his mother’s lives. Even if his father couldn’t return to his relationship with Gai Yalai, out of respect for the Jiang Family, he could have arranged for her to live comfortably for the rest of her life. But Gai Yalai being sly and malicious, falsely accusing his father of being involved with Jiang Ge’s concubine, now taking advantage of this identity to manipulate him and always trying to trouble his wife ant this old woman couldn’t be kept alive.
“Achun, mother is dizzy. Mother bled so much to save you, she deserves so nourishnt, doesn’t she?” Gai Yalai shrank a little, scared, but still finished her words.
He was just about to scold her when Bai Ruozhu behind him pulled his sleeve, saying, “Alright, your mother is just in a bad mood. Let’s be more tolerant. I’ll have soone make her so dried at soup tonight.”
at here could only be carried as dried at, usually heavily chewed. Gai Yalai wanted soup, so it would take extra effort to make it.
Jiang Yichun suddenly beca nervous; he tugged his hand, whispering, “There’s evil energy.”
He said this and walked away, not quarreling with Gai Yalai anymore. Inside the carriage, Gai Yalai’s eyes brightened, thinking her son was disgusted with that damn Bai Ruozhu!
