Bai Ruozhu didn’t know the situation in the army, Jiang Yichun was afraid she might worry, so he didn’t ntion it in his letter.
In Linchuan City, the plague treatnt was very effective. Bai Ruozhu arranged for several doctors to continue monitoring it and instructed Ding Ji on what needed special attention, then took most of the doctors back to Beiyu City.
When leaving, the townspeople of Linchuan lined the streets to see them off, which made Bai Ruozhu feel sentintal. When they arrived, the streets were empty with many shops closed, and the city was eerily quiet. Now as they were leaving, it was bustling like Beiyu City, with townsfolk warmly bidding them farewell just like in Beiyu.
The journey back was smooth, but traveling with Lanlan brought so inconvenience; during the day Bai Ruozhu and Jiao Ling had to watch her closely and at night, they would soak Lanlan in dicine liquid to suppress the poisonous insect.
Jiao Ling secretly cried several tis, feeling that a girl of her daughter’s age should be wearing pretty dresses and playing outside, not soaking in dicine liquid all day.
Seeing her aunt wiping away tears, Bai Ruozhu felt anxious but knew she had to control the Phoenix Poisonous Insect for Lanlan’s sake.
Fortunately, the journey was short, and they returned to Beiyu City in three days, where everyone was eagerly anticipating their arrival.

Bai Ruozhu’s horse carriage was at the front, not far from theirs, and she naturally overheard their conversation, which made her smile.
The procession then headed to the Guest Palace, where the Pri Minister and the Virtuous King t them on behalf of the emperor and awarded them individually, making everyone very happy.
When Bai Ruozhu exited the Guest Palace, her family was waiting at the palace gate. Lin Ping’er, having recently completed her confinent after childbirth, rushed forward to inspect Bai Ruozhu, “Ruozhu, look at you, you’ve gotten thinner!”
Bai Ruozhu smiled coyly, “Where am I thinner? I’ve lost weight where needed and gained it where needed; I’m doing well.”
Won of that era didn’t speak so directly, and Lin Ping’er’s face reddened slightly as she gave her a playful glare, “You girl, already a mother of three, and yet still so careless with your words.”
“Mom, hug !” Little Dengdeng leaped into Bai Ruozhu’s arms, “Mom, everyone says you’re amazing, saving so many people. You’re the heroine in everyone’s hearts. Dengdeng really admires you!”
Bai Ruozhu laughed out loud and kissed her son’s cheek, saying, “I don’t care about others admiring , but Dengdeng’s admiration is enough to make feel wonderful.”
Little Dengdeng’s eyes curved like crescents in laughter, “Then I will admire you every day!”
Everyone was amused by Little Dengdeng’s innocent words, and then they noticed Bai Ruolan had returned. Bai Yihong wanted to express his concern but saw Jiao Ling holding Bai Ruolan’s hand tightly, which puzzled him. However, with many people around, he decided to inquire at ho instead.
Prompted by Bai Yihong, everyone boarded the horse carriage and headed straight to Bai Residence.
Inside the Main Hall, Bai Ruozhu took the initiative to tell her family about Lanlan’s situation and asked them to keep it confidential, especially not letting the news spread out, as that would be troubling with Gufeng involved.
She also briefly spoke about the Gufeng situation, leaving Bai Yihong and Lin Ping’er with deep regret, both having a very low impression of the great elder.
“I think we should avoid going back to Jiuli, that great elder is still there; who knows what could happen,” Bai Yihong said angrily.
Jiao Ling beca anxious, “Little brother, the great elder is no longer involved in clan affairs, we don’t have to fear him. You can’t avoid seeing mom because of him!”
Bai Yihong showed a repentant expression, “Sister, you’re right, we still need to go back and see mom.”
Jiao Ling had just let out a breath of relief when Elder Su’s voice ca from outside, “Nonsense, the great elder is not that kind of person!”
He then walked in angrily, clearly having heard the conversation.
“It’s just an illusory realm, who can say if it’s real or not? How do you think the great elder did anything wrong?” Elder Su asked sternly.
Then he turned to Zu i and asked, “Did you see it too?”
“I just revisited the trial events of that year, things that really happened to . But I’ve never seen the great elder et with Wei Yu, and I didn’t see it in the illusory realm either,” Zu i answered seriously.
Elder Su glared at Bai Ruozhu, “How can you be sure what you saw was real and not an illusion intended by Wei Yu?”
Bai Ruozhu, annoyed by his questioning, replied directly, “The illusory realm ca from my poisonous insect; it’s only because Fen Gu released an illusory realm that we were all engulfed. If Wei Yu could control the illusory realm, he wouldn’t need to be so complicated; he could simply kill us in the illusory realm, injuring our spirits, and then co out to kill us easily. Why go to such great lengths to slander a great elder who is no longer overseeing Jiuli?”
“Because of my poisonous insect, I couldn’t be detected by anyone in the illusory realm, but I also couldn’t touch anything or change any events. So, I followed Wei Yu, witnessing what happened to him. This illusory realm repeats events from each person’s mory. I recall that year Fen Jiu took the first trial, and Elder Su stood behind the great elder. Elder Su stood there, stunned. During the trial, everyone was eager to rush in; who would have noticed the conversation between him and the great elder? Even Wei Yu was rushing forward, how could he be so aware?
But Bai Ruozhu had glanced back and, coupled with her keen hearing, overheard Elder Su’s words, and now revealed them.
“Even so, I don’t believe the great elder would suddenly attack Wei Yu,” Elder Su said angrily, “Besides, with the great elder’s strength back then, if he truly struck, Wei Yu wouldn’t have survived.”
“Which is why he was indeed about to die, allowing the one who seized his body to gain the advantage. That person claid to have a grudge against Wei Aofeng. I don’t understand Jiuli’s old matters, how could I describe these events if I hadn’t seen the past?” Bai Ruozhu retorted.
