Fo Lanying’s expression was a bit awkward, "I also heard it from him. I know very little about my mother."
Her eyes dimd a bit, perhaps thinking about her mother’s selfishness, only caring about her brother whom she had never t. She only thought about her son’s hatred, but never cared about her. When they t in the clan before, her mother didn’t notice her changes and never asked a word.
Thinking of this, Fo Lanying’s breathing beca slightly rapid, seemingly angered, but soon Bai Ruozhu noticed sothing was wrong.
At this mont, Fo Lanying was already clutching her head in pain, rolling on the ground, twisting her body in agony, letting out beast-like howls from her mouth.
Si Yihuan was so frightened that his face turned pale and worriedly asked, "What’s wrong with her? Was she poisoned by soone before?"
Bai Ruozhu hurried to take Si Yihuan’s pulse, but at this mont Si Yihuan’s strength was too great, and with one strong move pushed her away.
"It’s the aftereffect of the Forbidden Technique." Feng Cheng’s voice sounded quietly, "She barely passed the Enlightennt Tablet, but the cost was too great. Every now and then she will endure unbearable pain, and she can’t live long."
"What?" Bai Ruozhu recalled the changes in Fo Lanying and rembered her saying she had beco this inhuman, ghostly appearance.
At the ti, too much was happening around, Bai Ruozhu didn’t have the chance to question further, and she didn’t even consider Fo Lanying as her close friend to pay intentional attention.
However, when Fo Lanying risked her life to cover for Si Yihuan, at that mont, the Bai Family owed her a debt of gratitude, and Bai Ruozhu considered her as one of their own.
"Is there a way to redy it?" Bai Ruozhu asked.
Feng Cheng shook his head, "The rules of this world are fair. If you want to obtain sothing unattainable, you must pay the corresponding price, which is why so magic techniques are classified as forbidden. At most, she can live another decade or so, provided she doesn’t die from the headaches during that ti."
Si Yihuan covered his mouth, "How can this be? Does she have to endure such pain all the ti?"
Feng Cheng nodded helplessly, "It was the path she chose herself back then."
"No wonder she later went to live in the mountains by herself..." Bai Ruozhu murmured, sowhat lost.
She could imagine Fo Lanying’s feelings. Fo Lanying was stubborn and strong-willed, so she didn’t want her painful side to be seen by the clan, nor did she want others to show her the pity reserved for the weak.
Perhaps she didn’t want anyone worrying about her either.
Fo Lanying rolled on the ground in pain for half an hour. Several tis Bai Ruozhu wanted to knock her unconscious because she truly couldn’t bear it. But Feng Cheng said no. If she couldn’t endure this wave of pain while conscious, she would have to go through it all over again when she woke up.
Fortunately, after two hours, Fo Lanying’s howls gradually subsided, and soon she fell into a deep sleep.
Bai Ruozhu noticed that the bandages on her feet had co undone, and the wound was bleeding again. She helped her re-disinfect and apply dicine.
The wound from the trap was quite deep. Bai Ruozhu had no choice but to stitch it up. By the ti she finished everything, it was almost midnight.
"You all rest. I’ll keep watch." Feng Cheng said, "I’ll leave tomorrow morning."
Jiang Yichun looked at Feng Cheng, his voice dull, "Thank you this ti."
"It’s expected." Feng Cheng smiled warmly, and Bai Ruozhu noticed his face had beco much more cheerful.
Bai Zepei also nodded to Feng Cheng, and with Si Yihuan leaned against a tree and closed their eyes to rest.
Bai Ruozhu thought for a mont and said to Jiang Yichun, "You sleep first, I’ll talk to him."
"Okay." Jiang Yichun’s voice was flat, seemingly not angry this ti.
Feng Cheng, seeing her approach, had a look of surprise flash across his face. Seeing this in Bai Ruozhu’s eyes, she felt a sudden pang of guilt as if she owed him too much.
"You also used Forbidden Techniques, do you have aftereffects?" Bai Ruozhu asked.
Feng Cheng knew she was concerned about him, and his smile grew wider.
"There are different levels of Forbidden Techniques. Mine wasn’t too bad, just a decline in strength and severe internal injuries. I went back there to find dicine, and it’s okay now. As for the loss of strength, it doesn’t matter; I can slowly train it back." He said in a relaxed tone.
Bai Ruozhu felt reassured, "Then tomorrow you should hurry back to the Jiuli Clan. Once we finish these things, we’ll visit you at Jiuli."
"Alright." Feng Cheng smiled again, "It’s a promise then."
"Mhm, it’s a deal, but you must take good care of yourself." Bai Ruozhu’s nose felt a bit sour.
"Got it."
When Bai Ruozhu returned, Jiang Yichun was still awake, his obsidian-like eyes staring at the stars in the sky.
"I once thought of entrusting you to soone else." His voice ca softly.
Bai Ruozhu sat down beside him, feeling a bit annoyed, "How could you bear to do that."
"I was afraid I’d die, and no one would take care of you and the child." His voice lowered even further.
Bai Ruozhu glared at him, "I don’t want to talk about it, let’s sleep."
Feeling a bit stifled, she turned her back to him, leaned against the tree, and closed her eyes.
In the dark of night, a large hand reached over and wrapped around her small hand; he said nothing, but his palm was extrely warm.
Bai Ruozhu’s heart softened, not wanting to be angry anymore. Every minute and second they had together was extrely precious, and she didn’t want to waste any ti.
Settling into tranquility, the two of them fell into a deep sleep, Feng Cheng slowly walked over, seeing the two clasped hands, and felt a pang of emotion.
They were the couple, they were the ones who loved each other, it was ti for him to leave.
The next morning, when Bai Ruozhu woke up, she found a few words carved into the ground not far away with a sword.
I don’t like farewells, so I left first.
Bai Ruozhu quickly looked around, but Feng Cheng’s figure was long gone, though he must have left not long ago, seeing they were about to wake up and then departing.
Jiang Yichun held her shoulder, "Let’s continue our journey. We still need to et up with my father and them."
"Alright." Bai Ruozhu nodded in agreent.
At this ti, Fo Lanying also woke up. She looked pale and didn’t seem very spirited. Si Yihuan went over to help her up and asked, "Are you okay? Can you walk?"
Fo Lanying’s body swayed, and Bai Ruozhu thought for a mont, called Xiaohei, and had Xiaohei carry her for the journey.
Xiaohei was extrely reluctant, but eting her master’s pleading gaze, it had no choice but to go over and lift Fo Lanying.
"I really am receiving quite the treatnt. I’ve heard the Barbarian Clan’s Beast Taming Technique is amazing, but their beast pets never let anyone other than their masters touch them. Your leopard actually carries ; that’s truly surprising." Fo Lanying’s voice was a bit weak, but she could still make jokes, indicating her condition wasn’t too serious.
Bai Ruozhu smiled at her, "When your leg heals and you can walk, you won’t have this treatnt anymore. My little Xiaohei is quite unwilling."
Fo Lanying giggled, "Then I must cherish the ti I have now."
These words sounded a bit double-edged, Bai Ruozhu glanced at her but didn’t point it out.
