Bai Ruozhu quietly concealed her figure and followed the young Ma Tongfang. He soon made a few turns, looked back cautiously, and then entered an alley. Before long, he went through a wooden door.
Bai Ruozhu followed and jumped into the yard, then tried to hide in the space, only to find she couldn’t get in at all!
She hurriedly tried to take out dicine from the space, and luckily she could still retrieve items. She breathed a huge sigh of relief, otherwise her poison skills would have been completely wasted, as she hadn’t kept any poison on her.
She found a concealed place to hide, but the light inside was very dim, and she couldn’t see clearly who was inside, so she had to listen carefully.
"How’s the situation?" a slightly hoarse male voice asked.
"There are warrants everywhere; it doesn’t seem easy to leave." Ma Tongfang replied in a low voice.
"No matter, worse cos to worst, we’ll continue hiding; it’ll give Axiu a chance to recover from his illness." The hoarse male voice sounded again.
The man didn’t know if he was sick or had a spoiled voice; because of the hoarseness, it was hard to judge his age. But from his tone, he didn’t seem like an older person.
Axiu seed to be his wife or lover. If it were an older person, he might address her as "my wife" instead of calling her by na.
"I’m just afraid they’ll find so clues and conduct a thorough search of the city. If that happens, it’ll be difficult for you to escape, especially since she’ll be too sick to move." Ma Tongfang said worriedly.
The man laughed hoarsely, "That’s why you need to act quickly, secure a victory early on. The Yueqiu Tribe’s chief will then restrain himself, and we won’t be in danger."
"Easy for you to say!" Ma Tongfang said displeased, "If it weren’t for family ties, I wouldn’t bother with this ss."
Bai Ruozhu gradually cos to understand that the man inside is likely Fang Qing, and the woman referred to as Axiu is the rfolk Luo Family. This scene is from twenty years ago when they were captured by the Yueqiu Tribe.
But why did Ma Tongfang say they were relatives? Could it be that the Ma Family also has rfolk bloodline?

"Alright, I’m leaving now; I’ll notify you if anything arises, and you should be careful too." Ma Tongfang said, preparing to leave. Bai Ruozhu quickly hid as he cautiously exited the yard and disappeared into the night.
Bai Ruozhu didn’t continue to follow Ma Tongfang; her target was the rfolk.
Just then, coughing sounds ca from inside, followed by so hurried footsteps.
"Axiu, how are you? You shouldn’t try to get up, just rest well. You’ll be okay." Fang Qing’s raspy voice echoed, his tone much softer than when he talked to Ma Tongfang.
"Aqing, I feel like I won’t make it. Don’t care about , just hurry and escape by yourself. Aluo is waiting for you to fetch him; it doesn’t matter without , as long as you’re alive, soone can take care of him." Axiu’s voice was very weak, interspersed with coughing, struggling to breathe before finishing her words.
"No, don’t think about it. Aluo will cry if he can’t see you." Fang Qing softly consoled Axiu. Though his voice was hoarse, it comforted her greatly.
Axiu was either too weak to continue speaking or Fang Qing did sothing, as she quickly fell into silence, slipping into sleep.
Bai Ruozhu dared not move while squatting at the wall root until her legs went numb.
Murmurs ca from Fang Qing inside, but Bai Ruozhu couldn’t make them out due to their softness.
As the night deepened, Bai Ruozhu felt drowsy, and she struggled to keep her head alert. Who is Aluo that Fang Qing and the Luo Family ntioned? Seemingly soone prone to crying, possibly a child. Could it be the Luo Family’s younger sibling?
Suddenly, Bai Ruozhu’s mind conjured an idea; she once had a classmate nad after their parents’ surnas. If Fang Qing and the Luo Family have a child, would they na the child Fang Luo, hence calling him Aluo?
Yet records indicate they didn’t have children. Where did Aluo go? Could he have been accidentally hard in this incident?
Bai Ruozhu resolved to investigate thoroughly, despite her eyelids growing heavier. When she awakened, her surroundings had changed; she had been captured and taken elsewhere?
She instinctively looked back and saw the sowhat dilapidated Xunyang City Gate!
From afar ca the sound of orderly footsteps, and as she looked toward the sound, she saw a large troop of soldiers approaching—and they were organized in formation, heading to attack!
Could it be a battle was starting? Bai Ruozhu took a breath of cold air. Was she captured while asleep and brought here to witness the battle, or had she unknowingly slept through several days, rather than waking up the next day?
Without ti to think more, she hurriedly fled with the surrounding citizens into the city, listening to the approaching footsteps behind her.
This city wall couldn’t withstand much attack at all. Bai Ruozhu found a hidden corner on the side to hide.
At that mont, a commander in foreign clan attire rode over on horseback, with a neatly arranged cavalry troop behind him, each tall and sturdy. This was the Yueqiu Tribe’s cavalry unit.
Their horses were armored, even the horse legs were protected.
Bai Ruozhu watched with surprise; ordinary horses couldn’t bear such armor due to its weight. Could they carry armored riders and still run?
These were clearly not ordinary horses, resembling the Barbarian Clan’s beast pets, specially trained!
Suddenly, a shrill cry rang out, nearly drowned by the sound of hooves and warriors’ battle cries, yet still reached Bai Ruozhu’s ears.
Bai Ruozhu’s heart tightened, and she promptly climbed onto the city tower to find a new place to hide where she could see the entire situation outside the city.
Outside stood the Danliang army, as Bai Ruozhu spotted the young General Ma Tongfang, who at this mont was holding a woman. Her cries were shrill, and she wept as she said, "Ma Tongfang, I was really mistaken about you, you’re so despicable! Return my Aqing, return my Aqing!"
The woman crying was none other than Axiu, whom Bai Ruozhu had seen before entering here, and now looked just like the one Bai Ruozhu had seen in the real world, except her skin was even more sallow.
