Capítulo 2387: Chapter 2386: The Water Is Running Dry

The Black Pirate Boss was still channeling his energy to dispel the poison, but there was no trace of panic in his eyes. He said leisurely, “You still have ti, feel free to continue fighting slowly.”

Only then did Bai Ruozhu and the others notice that the Black Pirates’ ship was leaving at full speed, increasing its distance from their own ship.

They really couldn’t afford to gamble with ti like this. Even if they could kill all the Black Pirate Boss’s subordinates, how would they return to their own ship?

Even if they seized the pirate ship, none of them knew how to operate it, let alone find their direction at sea.

Moreover, if they weren’t on the boat, it would just be Yuan Licheng and the others, and if a Sea Monster appeared again, it would be difficult for them to withstand it.

Thinking of this, Jiang Yichun glanced at Bai Ruozhu, asking for her opinion. Bai Ruozhu nodded slightly; they couldn’t afford this ti; they had to retreat.

“Let’s go!” Jiang Yichun said.

The group jumped overboard one by one and swam towards their own ship in the distance. No one noticed the eerie smile on the Black Pirate Boss’s lips as he seed to murmur to himself, “So it was that woman who poisoned us; what a talent, what a pity.”

Soone who heard felt curious and wanted to ask what was a pity, but rembering that their boss didn’t like others speaking out of turn, they swallowed the words back down.

Bai Ruozhu’s group swam for half a day before finally returning to their ship, illustrating how fast the pirate ship really was.

It could be said that even the largest official ship in Danliang couldn’t compare to the Black Pirates’ ship in terms of construction level.

Whether it was the sturdiness of the hull, the speed of the ship, or the weapons equipped onboard, they all fell short.

Not to ntion, on the Black Pirates’ ship, there was a Defensive Array that could be activated at any ti!

No wonder they could roam the seas fearlessly, and no wonder they made people tremble at the sound of their na.

“How did it go?” Fo Lanying approached and asked.

Bai Ruozhu shook her head, her mood sowhat low.

“They were poisoned and fled, but they will probably co back. Their ship is really formidable.”

Fo Lanying pouted, “How did it co to this…”

Bai Ruozhu explained what had just happened to them, and Yuan Licheng showed a look of disbelief, “If the array was incorporated during the shipbuilding, it would require a lot of precious materials and a great deal of effort, possibly doubling the shipbuilding ti.”

“What’s the deal with these Black Pirates?” Jiang Yichun asked Li Jin.

Li Jin quickly stepped forward, “I don’t know either; I only know they are elusive, beca famous on the seas about five or six years ago, and those who go out to sea fear hearing their na the most.”

Bai Ruozhu looked at Old Ding, “Does Old Ding know about them?”

“I’ve heard of them, but before I was locked up by Zheng Xin, I hadn’t heard much. Afterward, I couldn’t get any news from outside either.” Old Ding sighed, “I never imagined Zheng Xin had connections with the Black Pirates. When he detained , he would provoke with words or torture, trying to learn more from , but he never ntioned the Black Pirates.”

Bai Ruozhu said nothing. Fortunately, she hadn’t killed Zheng Xin; now she could only look for him to find out more.

Afterward, they discussed defensive asures and reviewed the casualties before dispersing.

In the kitchen, several kitchen maids were filled with conflict. Finally, the most outspoken kitchen maid picked up a tray and said, “I’ll go and talk to her.”

“We’ll go too,” the other kitchen maids quickly followed her.

When Wa Wei saw a group of kitchen maids coming to her, she was startled, thinking they were here to cause trouble.

With a thud, one kitchen maid knelt on the ground, still holding a tray, spilling so of the sweet soup.

The other kitchen maids quickly knelt down as well.

“You, what are you doing? Get up quickly!” Wa Wei exclaid.

The head kitchen maid looked ashad, “We’re here to apologize. We shouldn’t have spoken to you that way that day. After eting Wang Lu today, we realized we wrongly accused you and Mr. Duannian.”

“Yes, we know we were wrong. Please don’t take it to heart, Miss.”

“We had a prejudice against the rfolk; it won’t happen again.”

All the kitchen maids expressed their apologies. Wa Wei, feeling awkward, could only take the sweet soup, saying, “Please get up; it’s not your fault. I won’t hold it against you, now go back to your work.”

The kitchen maids said no more, stood up, apologized again, and left for the lower deck of the ship cabin.

Entering the room, Duannian looked at her displeased, “They bullied you? Why didn’t you tell ?”

Wa Wei smiled, “What bullying? They were just worried about their missing companion. Didn’t they just apologize?”

“Hmph, only because they were truly wrong, and they’re afraid of punishnt, they’d co to you. You’re always so forgiving.” Duannian huffed.

Wa Wei brought over the sweet soup with a smile, “See, they even brought you sweet soup — the Glutinous Rice Wine Balls you like. Don’t be mad; to err is human, after all.”

Duannian didn’t take the bowl, looking resentful, “They think I’m a monster, right? Only you would forgive them.”

Wa Wei’s heart ached, holding back tears, she said, “They just don’t understand you. If they got to know you, they’d see you’re a good person too.”

She paused and added, “I rember when I first t Sister Ruozhu, I showed her attitude because I didn’t want to leave Luili Island, so I was very hostile to them. Yet Sister Ruozhu wasn’t angry with ; she even taught dical skills. That’s when I realized you don’t have to hold grudges, and if you broaden your heart, life becos easier, doesn’t it?”

Duannian’s face turned livid, “Fine, I’m narrow-minded; I won’t say anything more.”

He was sulking, refusing even to drink the sweet soup.

Wa Wei coaxed him with pleasant words. Seeing him relent, she had no choice but to set the sweet soup aside.

“There are quite a few injured onboard today, and a doctor is needed to help. I’m going to be busy.” Wa Wei said and then left the room.

Soaked in a wooden barrel, Duannian irritably splashed his tail, causing water to spray everywhere, soaking the room floor.

The water level in the barrel was limited; with his splashing, it decreased significantly, leaving him feeling uncomfortable, like the skin on his waist above the water might crack.

Duannian had no choice but to call out for Wa Wei, but she was too far to hear him.

Duannian, feeling frustrated, was quite uneasy away from the sea; it felt confining and uncomfortable.

Just then, footsteps approached outside, and an honest-sounding voice said, “Do you need sothing, Mr. Duannian?”

Although Duannian disliked strangers, he was really uncomfortable today, so he reluctantly said, “Go call Wa Wei to add water for ; there’s too little in the barrel.”
