The next day, when Bai Ruozhu went to check on Duannian’s wound, Duannian was lying on the bed, retaining the appearance of human legs.
He looked sowhat weak, lacking the vigor and pride of galloping across the sea, yet his face was filled with excitent and joy, clearly more fond of his current legs.
"How’s the wound?" Bai Ruozhu asked.
Wa Wei sat by the bedside and lifted the thin blanket covering Duannian’s legs. Duannian had already put on a pair of pants, but the pant legs were rolled up, revealing a section of his strangely colored calf and scars on the inside of his feet.
Bai Ruozhu was astonished to see that his tail fin had turned into feet, so cutting the tail fin left wounds on the inside of each foot?
Seeing Bai Ruozhu, Duannian straightened up a bit and said excitedly, "Bai Ruozhu, did you see? I really have legs when I leave the water!"
"That’s great, congratulations!" Bai Ruozhu said with a smile.
"But it’s strange. I never left the water before, even the day we did the surgery I left the water, but it never changed?" said Duannian, looking puzzled. "So, I thought carefully, it must be the golden light that ran from my wound that was the cause, it must be it."
Bai Ruozhu, afraid he would ask about Jiang Yichun, quickly said, "So you can’t walk now? What did my godfather say after examining you?"
Duannian appeared dejected, and Wa Wei helped explain, "He can’t stand, the dical Saint checked him and said there were no bones in the legs."
Bai Ruozhu silently sighed. Jiang Yichun had turned into a fish tail but couldn’t swim and almost choked in the pond too.
"Don’t rush, take it slow, maybe there will be changes in the future," she encouraged.
Duannian, not worried at all, said with a smile on his face, "I’m not in a hurry. Maybe once the wounds heal, I’ll be able to stand. Plus, I can still continue to practice my skills, my strength hasn’t weakened much."
Seeing his optimism, Bai Ruozhu breathed a sigh of relief, but then thought about the water shortage on the boat and beca worried again.
"By the way, Duannian, you’re often in the sea, do you know if there are any islands nearby, preferably with fresh water?" Bai Ruozhu thought how she could forget such a person. He had lived in the sea for over ten years and must have been to many places.
Duannian thought for a mont and then said, "There should be an island southeast, but I’m not sure about the ti, it might take three to five days, or it could take ten days to arrive."
"Does it have fresh water?" Bai Ruozhu asked excitedly.
Duannian shook his head, "You know I couldn’t go on the island before, so I didn’t go to check. The island is uninhabited, so there might not be fresh water, but there are many coconut trees. At worst, coconut juice can replenish water."
Bai Ruozhu quickly nodded, this was indeed a way, as long as they could replenish water, and coconut juice is nutritious and tastes good.
"But the taste is not very good. Once, when I couldn’t find water, I drank a lot of it, and didn’t want to eat anything for a whole day," Duannian added.
"Huh?" Bai Ruozhu was startled. How could coconut juice not taste good?
Seeing Bai Ruozhu’s confusion, Wa Wei imdiately understood and laughed, "Sister Ruozhu, you don’t know, but many of the coconut trees on the sea have coconut juice that is salty and astringent, not very tasty."
"Oh." Bai Ruozhu felt bewildered. The coconut juice she drank in her previous life on a sea island was always delicious. Could it be a different variety?
Anyway, it’s a plan. Bai Ruozhu quickly discussed it with Old Ding, who wholeheartedly agreed, and soon the direction was clarified, and the boat headed southeast.
After three days of sailing like this, the fresh water on the boat grew scarcer, and no one on the boat could take a bath, with many people emanating a fishy salty sll.
Including Bai Ruozhu.
"If you have a cleanliness issue, don’t force yourself, go wash up. As long as I sll, others won’t think much of it," Jiang Yichun advised her as he saw her looking uncomfortable and constantly scratching herself.
Bai Ruozhu vigorously shook her head, "Don’t shake my resolve, I’ve said fair treatnt for everyone, we’ll face the water shortage together, I can’t just sneak off to bathe by myself. Even if I feel comfortable after washing, how could I bear to see Fo Lanying and others suffer?"
Jiang Yichun smiled wryly, "It’s hard for soone with a cleanliness issue like you to hold on like this. Let’s hope there’s fresh water on the island that Duannian ntioned."
Bai Ruozhu had a Spatial Hot Spring, so bathing wasn’t a problem, but she’d rather stay dirty than break her word and bathe in secret.
On the fifth day, they still hadn’t seen the island. Even Old Ding grew restless and went to Duannian once, fearing the direction was wrongly set.
Duannian, looking disgruntled, said, "I naturally stay in the sea, my sense of direction in the sea is excellent, I won’t be wrong."
"How many tis have you been to that island before?" Old Ding asked.
"I passed by once," Duannian replied.
Old Ding’s heart sank. He had only been there once, and just passed by, which clearly ant he wasn’t familiar with it. If he rembered the wrong direction, what would happen to everyone on board?
So, on the morning of the sixth day, when everyone saw Old Ding, his mouth was covered with cold sores from worry.
Bai Ruozhu didn’t know how to console him. Just then, startled cries ca from the deck, "The Black Pirates are coming, the Black Pirates are coming!"
It was the voice of the sailor on duty in the watchtower. Jiang Yichun quickly told Yuan Licheng, "You go activate the array first."
"All right, have everyone move to the center of the ship as much as possible. The array can’t cover every place," Yuan Licheng said.
Jiang Yichun then told Li Jin, "You go organize people below to take shelter in the middle of the second level, but don’t ntion the reason to avoid soone sending signals to the Black Pirates."
"Yes." Li Jin, trembling, left the room.
He already knew that Jiang Yichun and the others were not ordinary people, but still couldn’t help shivering at the re ntion of the Black Pirates’ na.
Bai Ruozhu strode toward the deck. She had to take a good look at whether all the Black Pirates had detoxified.
She had poisoned their Black Pirate Ship that day without rcy. Although it wasn’t a touch-and-die severe poison, it wasn’t easily cured either.
As she reached the deck, she could already see the black sails of the Black Pirates from afar.
The sailors on the deck were in chaos, utterly disordered compared to their organized defense against the Sea Monster. Thankfully, Mo Beishan and Old Ding were there to command, at least ensuring that the ship didn’t fall behind in navigation.
In a short while, the Black Pirate Ship drew much nearer, and even Old Ding couldn’t help but exclaim, "Their ship is too fast, how can it be this fast?"
"Probably using so kind of black technology." Bai Ruozhu replied casually, leaving Old Ding puzzled, not knowing what "black technology" was.
"Bring the rockets!" Bai Ruozhu shouted. Imdiately, soone brought the pre-prepared rockets.
Due to limited conditions on the boat, they couldn’t make powerful weapons on the spot, so they sent flaming arrows toward the Black Pirate ship that had been prepared in advance.
