Song Yi laughed heartily, “Children are a blessing. So many people want sons but can’t have them. There’s no need to rush; you’ll have a daughter sooner or later.”
“Lord Song, you are absolutely right. Just a question, how many children do you have?” Jiang Yichun asked.
“I have two sons, but neither is very capable. I’m not a very good father,” Song Yi said humbly.
“A tiger father never breeds a dog son. You are too modest, Lord Song.”
Song Yi wanted to integrate more realistically into Fusang, so he needed to marry and have children. His wife was a Fusang person, but she had a humble background and was sowhat timid and ek, never questioning his affairs.
These were things that Song Yi would never ntion himself, but Jiang Yichun had arranged for soone to find out.
After chatting for a while, it was ti to eat. To avoid making Song Yi feel too awkward, they didn’t call everyone to eat together; only Jiang Yichun, Mo Beishan, Bai Ruozhu, Tang Feng, and Gao Zhou were present.
Song Yi was a bit emotional when he saw the table full of Zhongyuan dishes, his eyes reddening slightly.
Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun noticed but pretended not to see.
As he tasted the food, Song Yi couldn’t hide his emotions any longer. He deliberately coughed and said, “It’s been so long since I had spicy food, I’m not quite used to it.”

Jiang Yichun handed him so wine, “I didn’t know you didn’t like spicy food, Lord Song. Maybe try so of the non-spicy dishes.”
“Actually, I do like spicy food, but I just don’t eat it often,” Song Yi replied with a smile, hiding his loss of composure.
The al ended with everyone thoroughly enjoying themselves, and Song Yi even got quite drunk. As Jiang Yichun helped him, he said, “Brother, you’re so drunk. Why not stay at the posthouse for the night? There are extra rooms anyway.”
Song Yi mumbled in agreent, and Jiang Yichun staggered, nearly falling to the ground with him.
It was Tang Feng who extended a hand to steady them, helping them stand firm.
Jiang Yichun secretly gave Tang Feng a look, who then helped Song Yi into the room. Tang Feng left, also feeling a bit tipsy.
Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun returned to their room and lay in bed pretending to sleep.
“Do you think he’ll co?” Bai Ruozhu asked.
“He’s definitely pretending to be drunk. Since he’s acting, there’s no way he won’t co,” Jiang Yichun replied.
Bai Ruozhu quickly gestured for silence, knowing her keen hearing didn’t an others couldn’t hear as well. Better to be cautious.
The two lay there for over an hour, until midnight when there was finally so movent from Song Yi’s side.
Song Yi was very cautious, stepping out of the room to relieve himself. It’s normal to urinate a lot after drinking. If discovered, he could easily claim to be getting up to use the toilet.
Then, he staggered unsteadily as if unsure where the room was after relieving himself.
Soon, he quietly pushed open Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun’s room door. Hearing Jiang Yichun’s light snores, he confird they were sound asleep before starting to search the room.
He found almost nothing after searching, but then thought of Jiang Yichun’s clothes. He eagerly searched the clothes rack and indeed found a secret letter in an inner pocket.
The room was dimly lit, so he couldn’t see clearly what it was but sensed its importance.
He quickly left the room, his steps nimble, not at all like a drunken person.
He soon found a concealed spot and lit a match.
“Today’s order to Lord Jiang to go to Fusang Country, find the Imperial Treasury. A hefty reward will be given upon discovery.”
There were few words, but below was a vivid red seal. Having seen such secret letters sealed with the imperial seal before, Song Yi felt it was identical, his heart racing suddenly.
He quickly extinguished the match and returned the secret letter back to Jiang Yichun’s room.
As he left again, Bai Ruozhu gently squeezed Jiang Yichun’s hand. The fish had taken the bait.
Ordinarily, no one dared to forge the emperor’s imperial seal, but Bai Ruozhu was not one to be bound by so many rules. With the dim light of night and Song Yi’s tense nerves, it was impossible he’d spot the flaw.
After that, Song Yi made no more moves. Jiang Yichun signaled Bai Ruozhu to sleep, while he watched through the night.
Song Yi indeed was cautious, visiting Mo Beishan and Tang Feng’s rooms in the second half of the night, but found nothing useful.
Though disappointed, the fewer items he found, the more he trusted the secret letter’s credibility. After all, too much intel might unsettle him, whereas less made it valuable.
Quickly, he wrote sothing upon returning to his room, then took out a small bamboo cage, releasing a little bird resembling a hummingbird.
Outside the posthouse, Qiu Zhi, who was dozing off, was nudged awake by Shanhu’s elbow.
They hurriedly chased after the ssenger bird, catching it not long after.
“You said I didn’t need to accompany you. If I weren’t here, you’d miss it with your napping.” Shanhu complained.
Qiu Zhi scratched his head, embarrassed, “Thanks for your hard work.”
Shanhu gave him a look, “I’ll keep this thing. Don’t let it get killed in your hands.”
“Okay, you’re much more careful than I am,” he replied with a silly smile.
Seeing him like this, Shanhu couldn’t stay mad and laughed.
“Sit here,” she said, leaning against a tree and pointing to a spot beside her.
Qiu Zhi was secretly delighted, scurrying over to sit closely next to her. Shanhu’s face flushed as she shifted slightly away.
“Is this how you usually are?” she asked aloud.
“My, my master says I’m talented, the smartest among this generation of disciples, but I, I don’t go out often,” he said, his voice dropping as he worried Shanhu might think him foolish like his master did.
“What if you get tricked and sold? It’s certainly wise for you to stick with Master Bai, or who knows where you’d be tricked off to by now,” Shanhu said with so exasperation.
Qiu Zhi chuckled foolishly, “I’ll learn more in the future.”
“But I’m not much better than you. Always thinking I’m so clever, with strong spells, not easily hard by ordinary people, yet still getting fooled,” Shanhu said, laughing self-deprecatingly.
Qiu Zhi suddenly wrapped his arm around her shoulders, “Don’t think about that. You have .”
Shanhu was taken aback, “Why are you saying this? We agreed…”
Looking at her lips moving, Qiu Zhi’s mind filled with Bai Ruozhu’s encouragent to pursue his feelings, and he unexpectedly kissed her.
“What are you doing… mm…” Shanhu’s words were drowned by Qiu Zhi’s passionate kiss.
After a long while, when they were almost out of breath, Qiu Zhi finally let her go.
“Shanhu, I like you,” he said boldly.

“Ruozhu said that not being able to marry doesn’t an we can’t be together. I want to be with you!” he said earnestly, holding Shanhu’s shoulders.
