The four monks had been instructed; they dared not think otherwise and desperately continued chanting. Unexpectedly, the Emperor shoved the Second Prince aside; the sheer force was terrifying. When the Second Prince fell, he hit a table, causing the teapot and cups on the table to crash to the ground and break.
Lord Da Gu rushed in with his n, hurriedly supporting the Second Prince, who, having fallen heavily, coughed up blood.
"Quick, restrain the Emperor and send soone to fetch Lord Bai," the Second Prince managed to say.
Lord Da Gu’s face paled further, not daring to hesitate, promptly giving orders.
Soon after, the Emperor triggered a secret chanism, opening the treasure cabinet, and darted inside.
"Your Majesty!" Lord Da Gu abandoned the Second Prince and ran over, yet it was too late, the secret passage entrance closed; he slamd into the wall.
"Quickly find the chanism to reopen the secret passage," the Second Prince said before coughing heavily and expelling more blood.
During the late night at the posthouse, frantic knocking woke Bai Ruozhu, hearing the Emperor’s abnormal behavior and the Second Prince’s injury, she and Jiang Yichun promptly returned to the palace, but by the ti they arrived at the Emperor’s bedchamber, the Secret Passage door remained unopened. Lord Da Gu was sweating profusely, having pressed the sa spot countless tis and attempted myriad thods to press it, yet the entrance refused to reopen.
