In the endless brilliance, the Retrospective Vision was activated.

With the permission of the Twin Pontiffs and under the watchful eyes of the Huai Guang Swarm, Ian saw the ’source’ of the ’Embrace Light’.

The source of everything was still the Calamity of Heavenly Fall.

Located in the center of the continent, the top-secret Biological Laboratory lost control due to the Calamity of Heavenly Fall. Storage capsules containing nurous experintal super-bio embryos and Apocalypse Level biological weapons were destroyed, releasing a multitude of world-ending crises into the outside world, subsequently leading to the aftermath of the Calamity of Heavenly Fall that devastated Terra civilization.

Cities overturned, and tens of millions of people perished. Survivors were displaced, with only a few in the sanctuary having a stable base, while the remaining humans could only struggle for survival in the city ruins turned into rubble.

So even... were forced to wander the wilderness, facing the aftershock of the Calamity of Heavenly Fall.

At that ti, Terra was plagued by frequent natural disasters.

At tis it was scalding torrential rain that could boil human bones, sotis icy and viscous acid rain, sotis massive hailstones as large as a human head, and sotis thousands of lightning bolts striking down like rain...

Crude camps were aningless; only the shelter of mountains and the relatively sturdy ruins could allow survival, and those who could live were only the strongest adults...

And the protected children.

A group of children was sheltered under the isolation do of the forr Biological Laboratory. They were confused and uneasy, unable to stop crying... Most of them had lost their parents, friends, hos, and childhood peace. They were carried by adults through layers of firelines and peril, with everyone doing their utmost to bring them into this dim underground do.

Then, there was continuous waiting.

"Stay here obediently, don’t run around."

"The disaster outside is still ongoing. We will choose a few people to lead the search for supplies. Once we find so good food, everyone can have a feast!"

"Never go beyond the do area. This place should be the Federation’s secret laboratory... We’re not sure if it’s safe here."

"Damn it, the Federal Governnt was indeed secretly researching alien technology. Now, God knows what monsters will appear!"

The voices of the adults were buzzing and noisy, never unloading any dangerous pressure onto the children.

All the survivors united without any selfishness in their full-scale actions. They sacrificed everything, placing all the children in the safest area, ensuring a secure supply of food and water.

Even during the tis when diseases were rampant, they did not hesitate to prioritize the distribution of dicines to the Exploration Team and children, with no one competing.

It sounds incredible, but at that ti the prior era civilization managed to achieve this—at critical monts, any Terra Federation citizen would cooperate with utmost effort without suspicion or infighting.

They held a noble belief within their hearts that was more important than survival, a pride in being ’Terra People’.

Yet, no matter how noble the belief, it couldn’t solve the shortage of supplies or overco those perilous mutated creatures.

The number of people in the small sanctuary decreased, with more falling ill, among which were diseases unprecedented, not docunted in any information database, and untreatable by dicines, ’new maladies’.

By then, the people in the sanctuary had realized that the underground zone they had stumbled upon was actually the Federation’s secret Biological Laboratory—houses of various Alien Forms, viruses, and biological weapons.

The risk was comparable to building a house on a volcano crater.

They imdiately mobilized the last of their strength, prioritizing the evacuation of won and children, preparing to seek refuge at a nearby dium-sized sanctuary.

In this early era of Heavenly Fall, that other place would definitely accept them, and the reason they hadn’t gone before was that they didn’t want to burden other equally struggling survivors.

But it was at this mont that the real crisis appeared.

This was a monster created by the Federation era laboratory, a type of Alien Form that would parasitize within biological bodies and draw from their genes to enhance itself.

Originally, it wasn’t considered powerful because there wasn’t much in Terra that could provide it with strong targets even the Terra People themselves were balanced, not strong, and the mature form capable of being killed by guns and artillery.

However, after the Calamity of Heavenly Fall, with the ecological changes and the massive leakage and diffusion of Sparks, a large number of Magical Beasts appeared in this land, also giving the Alien Form parasitic-enhancing opportunities.

By parasitizing Magical Beasts, the Alien Form that acquired extraordinary power had exceeded the scope that ordinary guns and artillery could oppose.

They easily killed most of the Guard Squad escorting the won and children, with only a handful left inside the sanctuary and a few sick children surviving.

Among the sick children was a pair of mysterious twins.

Were they brother and sister, or brother and brother? No one knew, as their parents had died long ago in Heavenfall, and they were brought along by others fleeing, while these two children were the most peculiar among all the children in the sanctuary. They never spoke, played, or cried, only occasionally exchanging glances, seemingly able to communicate without words.

This peculiarity was noticed, but there was no ti to investigate. Most people believed this was a tendency towards autism due to extre grief, and lacking the ti to correct it reluctantly let it be.

The disease the children suffered from was peculiar, affecting those who were usually quick-witted and ntally resilient, manifesting as fevered brains, unusual nerve sensitivity throughout the body, accompanied by severe neuralgia.
