Ashen Pathway.
In the past, Ian had foreseen many paths, from the initial Swarm to the ensuing Spirit Disaster, whether it be further into Star Extinguishnt and Perpetuity, or the ongoing Arcane... each path has its own uniqueness.
The boundless imagination beyond ordinary people, the technology far surpassing the era itself, and the attempts to reach the stars were enough to color them ’gold’ or even dye them ’rainbow’.
However, the Ashen Pathway is different.
This ti, whether it was Ian or the Ashen King, the first thing they saw was a pitch-black.
That pitch-black, composed of endless crimson flas and ash, could engulf all light, and burn away all hope... a profound obscurity.
Then, in this pitch-blackness, a hint of rainbow began to appear.

Even Ian felt a shock at this mont, because in all the pathways he had seen, there had never been this near ’certain death’ level of darkness... rather, it had been a long ti since he had seen a future posing a mortal threat to himself. In today’s Terra Continent, there was no longer the possibility of him being killed without any resistance.
Speaking of which, the self on the Extinction Star Pathway, finally collided with The End, which theoretically should also be a certain death ending, but for so reason, there was no on of darkness.
Is there a difference between the two?

Everything started from Harrison Port.
Without a younger brother, Ian’s experiences in Harrison Port were vastly different from ’now’ in this lifeti. The Ian who explored the Ashen Pathway should be a relatively early Ian, and his mode of action wasn’t normal exploration, but rather akin to a ’multiple rounds of exploring different possibilities’ kind of reborn person.
Leveraging the identity of an appraiser, engaging in jungle adventures multiple tis, choosing to be loyal to Viscount Grant, and becoming a mber of the core circle of Harrison Port as Elder Pude’s successor, Ashen Ian didn’t show much ’curiosity’ towards the outside world because he hadn’t deleted too many mories at that ti.
He had good relationships with several loyal subordinates of Viscount Grant, City Defense Officer Sir Yarm, and Treasurer Lamar. Both took good care of him, a young lad, and Ian also learned about the ’side stories’ behind these two.
Sir Yarm was relatively straightforward. As the right-hand man of Viscount Grant, he held several smuggling lines, amassing a considerable fortune, and he was in charge of storage for various magical dicine ingredients and wealth for the Grant Family.
He wasn’t corrupt; this old man just had a bit of a hoarding issue. Despite having lots of money, he hid it all without using it. In one lifeti, Ian even took all his money as starting capital, but when he returned wealthy to Harrison Port intending to repay Sir Yarm, he hadn’t even realized he had been stolen from.
As for Lamar, things were a bit more severe.
He secretly had connections with the Fiery Fla Land’s special operations team!
It sounded very tense, but in reality, it wasn’t too bad. As a wandering Crimson People refugee from Fiery Fla Land, holding a high position in Harrison Port, Lamar was the best target of defection in the eyes of the Fiery Fla Land’s special operations team. Hence, various plans and threats aid at Lamar were never-ending, but Lamar never had any intention of betraying Viscount Grant, rejecting every ti firmly.
Even after Viscount Grant knew about this, he wanted Lamar to pretend to agree to the other party to lure out those Fiery Fla Land pests, but Lamar also refused.
Although he didn’t tell Viscount Grant the reason, Ashen Ian coincidentally learned from a conversation between Lamar and his sister.
The content of the conversation was quite complex and private.
Klendell’s aning was direct, the Viscount indeed granted them life and showed great kindness, betrayal was absolutely impossible, but if the Viscount abandoned them, she would give the Viscount one last warning to repay the lifesaving grace, then leave Harrison Port.
Lamar also confessed that the reason he didn’t contact Fiery Fla Land was out of fear that if they were abandoned by the Viscount in the future, he might reach out to Fiery Fla Land, doing sothing harmful to Harrison Port—he couldn’t resist temptation, so he decided from the beginning not to associate with temptations.
As they said, but from their tone, Ian could completely tell that these two wouldn’t run away... they would stay in Harrison Port, with Viscount Grant, and even die together with Viscount Grant!
"Lamar and his sister have such a devoted personality? Viscount Grant is so dangerous? If he were even a little bit unfaithful, it wouldn’t require , his life wouldn’t be secure at all..."
Ian was quite hard pressed, Viscount Grant’s harem seed difficult to manage, and he wondered how in this world he could perfectly coordinate... but on second thought, Viscount Grant was pure-hearted and faithful. After having children, he directly transford into a good father, and according to Terra’s ethics, he was truly a top-class noble with integrity.
All this was quite amusing to Ian, but to the Ashen King beside him, it made less sense.
However, he astutely spotted a trace of sothing off.

In Ian’s perspective, he couldn’t really see Ashen Ian himself, but by the relationships around Ashen Ian, it could be deduced, and the Ashen King also vaguely discerned that all of this seed to be related to their strategic actions against the Empire’s Southern Ridges back then.
