Now reading: Chapter 644 - 644 602 from Above The Sky, a Fantasy novel by Gloomy Sky Hidden God.

644: 602 644: 602 [No…]

Gazing at the Duke of Solin, Adalbert stepped back a few tis, his complexion pale from the mont he’d beco the Deceased Monarch, but now it unnaturally took on a hint of blood: [How is this possible…

How can there be such a large…

How can there be such a large barrier…

such a massive Cage?!]

[It’s impossible, the amount of material needed would be…]

His voice trailed off, and Adalbert hung his head.

His eyes were vacant.

He couldn’t imagine.

Even as a Genius Alchemist, the one who provided the theoretical basis for the Deceased Monarch and the Dead River Armant, Adalbert could not grasp the concept of a starry sky, having never seen the stars.

To understand the cosmos.

It was an impossible feat—on a planet devoid of stars, it was impossible for anyone to comprehend what the universe was, what a space-ti larger than a planet was!

And in Ian’s heart, there was also a tumult: [What…

the gravitational limit of Terra Sun?!]

[Does that an this barrier spreads across a distance of even more than 4.5 light-years?!]

At first, upon hearing Star Prison Tianyu, Ian had already thought that this absurd thing was likely not expanded from the illumination of a star or a planetary ring, but a barrier that started at least from the Oort Cloud (a group of asteroid dust outside the Solar System).

If that’s the case, its radius might exceed one light year.

This was already outrageous… but according to the Duke of Solin, the barrier might be even more outrageous!

[Doesn’t this an that in so densely packed starfields, so barriers are rged together?]

[Lift up your head!]

And the Duke of Solin, who understood what the universe was, now, the disciple of Inega II chided: [So you shrink back now?]

[Since you can’t imagine it, I will show you!]

The Dead River Armant spread out his arms, and the vast Terra rapidly shrank, along with its sun and the other eleven planets, until the entire Terra Solar System was embraced in his arms.

Then it was covered by a dark Cage with cracks.

This layer of dark Cage was an uneven sphere, which kept on changing.

As Ian had guessed, this barrier Cage was centered around the Terra Sun, extending to its gravitational limit.

Not only the outermost planets, but even the Oort Cloud was within it, extending even into an emptiness where there was nothing, every bit of it enveloped by the cage.

But there was a crack in it.

A crack that allowed the passage of light.

[Have you ever thought, Adalbert, why the previous era’s civilization perished?

What do you think was the cause?]

The Duke of Solin’s voice echoed throughout the miniature garden: [The force that could shatter the moon’s gaze, rendering it like a stepped-on biscuit, if it hit Terra, do you think our planet below could withstand it?]

[The Calamity of Heavenly Fall shook Terra, the oceans evaporated, and of the five continents, now only two remain.

Do you think if such a disaster struck again, the civilization on this planet could continue to exist?]

[Haha, the answer to these questions, I actually know none of them—but there is one thing I do know!]

[Because of Star Prison Tianyu, Above the Sky, aside from our Terra’s internal sun and the eleven planets, there are not many stars left!]

[When all the stars have vanished, when the cracks on the Star Prison Tianyu are completely repaired, our last chance will be utterly spent.]

[After that, only the prison will endure forever…

That’s the future we’re destined to face.]

The Duke of Solin’s voice had gone from an angry interrogation at the beginning to weariness at the end, not taking much ti.

At last, he sighed deeply, then retracted his hands, crushing the entire Terra’s Starfield model into silver dust that returned to the orbs of light that revolved around him: [The truth is, we have already lost.]

[After Yinaiga’s death, no one else could understand this point.

Even the teacher has despaired, he can no longer be any quicker, but we cannot head Above the Sky until the prison is completely sealed off.]

[Do you understand, Adalbert?]

Looking up, into the pitch black sky of the Subspace Labyrinth, the Duke of Solin murmured softly to himself, his tone full of boundless lancholy: [It doesn’t matter if you don’t understand; I’ve long grown accustod to this fact.]

[So I can only attempt his last plan, to leave sothing behind for our civilization.]

Adalbert wanted to say sothing—he really had a hard ti understanding, whether it was the vastness and insignificance of a planet, or the imnseness and emptiness of a Starfield—he couldn’t comprehend.

How could his own world, with the sun so huge compared to the great Heavenly Father’s gaze, be nothing more than a tiny marble.

He couldn’t imagine why a prison larger than the sun, even the kingdom of the sun, sealed off the entire Starfield…

nor could he comprehend why the barrier had a massive crack large enough to swallow hundreds and thousands of suns abreast.

He couldn’t understand, couldn’t fathom the thing itself, the reasons behind it, and what’s more, he couldn’t grasp the most ordinary of facts.

—Yet even so.

He thought to himself and murmured quietly: [Even so, isn’t it vast enough?]

[We haven’t even finished exploring the New Continent…

Why obsess over the distant future, over matters outside of Terra thousands of years from now?]
