(5600, second update)_3 After gathering information, Ian returned, shaking his head.
Who could he complain to about his household guards being conscripted?
But there was no longer anything that required Tres and the others to act as a cover, so it was ti to head back to the Imperial Capital.
As for Tres, he must be happily working overti.
Using the Second Prince’s channel to summon a Floating Stone Aircraft, Ian and the Fae soon boarded the saucer-shaped vessel, uncannily reminiscent of a UFO.
It took off in utter silence, like a Phantom rising from the earth.
Ian sat on the aircraft, looking down over the expanse of the Avak Domain.
Unlike the creepy night, the land now bore only withered stems and desolate cold winds.
It once teed with life, with people camping with their families on the flat grasslands; friends strolled along dirt roads, admiring the views of White Cloud Mountain; soone played the harp in the adow, singing ballads to his beloved girl, laughing and praising her enchanting figure.
But all had turned to ashes, the cities in the distance lay in ruins, and the villages of bygone days had beco deadly lands.
For the next ten or even a hundred years, the Avak Domain would not return to its forr state.
The laughter in those streets and fields had gone, never to return.
It was only in this mont that Ian allowed himself a brief ti to indulge in sorrow.
But soon, his heart hardened; he had no ti to grieve.
His determination now was to prevent more places from becoming like the Avak Domain of the present.
Ian’s gaze swept over the entire land before spotting a figure that piqued his interest.
A young Swordsman, along with a small child.
They trudged on, leaving behind their extinct hotown.
“It’s that survivor…I rember, his na seems to be Miles?”
Ian’s eyes focused on the increasingly distant figure that remained clear in his Foresight View, “It seems he survived, and so did the little girl.”
Saying so, his voice carried a trace of relief, “That is good…”
Ian also noticed that the Spirit Energy Radiance around Miles was beginning to fade.
Like himself, in his early years, Miles had overused his newly awakened Spirit Energy and was now sowhat drained.
He needed food soon, but it appeared that Miles and the little girl nad Cynthia didn’t have much in the way of supplies.
Ian fell silent for a mont, then turned and headed toward the storage room of the Floating Stone Aircraft.
But halfway there, his brow furrowed slightly.
“Pale red?” The youth muttered to himself, “Is there danger?”
“Could it be that…”
anwhile, on the ground.
“Brother Miles, are we really going to leave Avak?”
Following a quietly flowing stream, the Swordsman with a Side Sword at his waist walked forward wearily, vigilant of his surroundings – he had clearly been through many life-and-death battles recently, his wounds having only just started to heal.
A girl with light orange hair clung to the Swordsman’s hand; she was quite well-behaved, and although her face still bore tear stains, she did not slow him down as they walked.
Yet, as she saw the farthest hill she had ever visited recede behind her, and as they continued towards even farther places, the girl couldn’t help but look back reluctantly at the direction of Azure City, now out of sight.
“…Of course.”
The young Swordsman fell silent for a mont, then looked back at his hotown with a complex gaze, “Perhaps we will never return.”
“Forever…”
The little girl was sowhat bewildered; the word was too complex for a child.
They couldn’t even grasp the concept of a very long ti, becoming impatient after only a few minutes of inattention, only the Swordsman himself understood the full gravity behind this term.
Maybe they could co back to the ruins of Azure City.
But the ho they knew, indeed, would never return.
Even if they got so supplies from the friendly Containnt Soldiers in the surrounding area, these wouldn’t last long, barely enough to reach the nearest village.
When the ti ca, he would try to find a job, save so money, and go sowhere far from the Western Territory.
Miles’ eyes lit up with a pale red glow, the power of his Spirit Energy that had allowed him to fight his way out of the Avak Domain from Azure City…
This unique Spirit Energy could transfer all attacks within a certain range around him onto himself, greatly enhancing his defensive power and regenerative ability.
It was with this ability that he had managed to protect Cynthia and break out of the encirclent.
The nature of Spirit Energy is the deepest desire of a Spirit Energy User at the mont of awakening, Miles didn’t know this, but he understood that if he had this Spirit Energy back then, perhaps his mother and Aunt Lydia’s family wouldn’t have died.
With a light sigh, the young Swordsman and the girl rested for a while, treating the wounds on his arm and chest that looked as if they had been scratched by a wild beast, then prepared to set off again.
Just then, they heard a sound carried by the wind.
Hum—A box with its own pulley system descended from the sky and landed smoothly on the ground in front of Miles and Cynthia.
“What, what is this?” “A box?”
The Swordsman and the girl were stunned for a good mont before they lifted their heads to look at the sky.
There was nothing there—with their eyesight, they were unable to see the disc-shaped aircraft that had rapidly ascended to a height of twenty thousand ters.
Miles and Cynthia exchanged glances, then the Swordsman motioned for the little girl to hide behind the trees nearby, while he cautiously used his sword to pry open the lock on the box.
Then, he saw half a box of military compressed food, a small portion of ergency dicine, and various miscellaneous tools.
[I hope this helps, the last survivors of Azure City, please strive to survive]
[Instructions for the dicines are placed underneath, and if you have surplus tools, you can sell them]
The neatly written note was placed on top of the compressed food.
At first, Miles was quite surprised and excited, the food may not look like much, but it was actually enough for two people to eat for a long ti, not to ntion the dicines and miscellaneous tools like Firestone, exactly what they desperately needed.
Just as the note said, even if so small gadgets were of no use, they could be traded for money in villages and towns to save up for travel expenses.
However, a sorrowful expression soon appeared on his face.
The last survivors of Azure City…
had he and Cynthia really beco the last ones alive?
“The others… it seems none of them survived.
Cynthia, it’s just us from now on…”
After a mont of silence, Miles was about to call Cynthia over to treat the small cut on her arm with the dicine.
But before he did, he instinctively looked up at the sky again.
“Whoever you are…
thank you.”
The heightened sensitivity that ca with being a Spirit Energy User gave him the feeling that the person who had dropped the supplies was still watching over him.
It was a pair of azure eyes…
And at that mont.
In the distant horizon, a flash of lightning that was dazzling to the extre suddenly rose.
The thunderous roar that surpassed sound itself detonated directly in the hearts of everyone in the area, electric arcs as if solidified at the zenith of heaven and then turned into a deep blue star.
The lightning that accumulated infinite destructive power was like a malicious eye, remotely locking onto the land.
It fell, a massive column of lightning struck the remains of the Avak Central Research Laboratory, the extre heat and light lting and destroying everything.
[Imperial People, don’t think you’ve won!]
The Tianhong King’s laughing voice resounded: [If we can’t have it, neither can you!]
Miles, shocked beyond asure, widened his eyes.
He finally saw where the person who had dropped the rescue box for him was.
But this was not a good thing.
For a lightning bolt, a residual wave that branched out across the sky, struck the disc-shaped aircraft that was rapidly flying above.
