Everyone agreed and imdiately left the academy.
Chen Shi called for Black Pot, wondering, "Feifei wouldn’t talk nonsense. Could it really be Master Fu who did it? What would he want with so many students?"
The Eastern Market was located to the east of the city, amidst the trees outside the city walls. There were no fixed shops, and vendors would set up stalls during the day to sell daily necessities, as well as trinkets that children liked. Consequently, many students would visit after school.
Now that the moon appeared in the daylight, and with rumors of an Evil Spirit lurking outside the city, the Eastern Market had beco much more desolate.
Upon arriving at the market, there were indeed few vendors in the woods.
Gu Qingng said, "Soone was executed there the day before yesterday. It was the county magistrate who was beheaded, much blood shed. Could it be that the magistrate’s resentnt lingered and transford into the Evil Spirit?"
"My father went to see the execution and said the magistrate’s body was burned, so he couldn’t beco an Evil Spirit. My father even brought back so red stead buns for my brother, but I didn’t get to eat any," lanted another female student.
Hu Feifei exclaid excitedly, "Master Fu is just ahead. Qingng, it’s up to you!"
Everyone looked and, indeed, saw Fu Leisheng crouching at a vendor, talking to the stall owner.
The stall was selling geese, with about a dozen large white geese all in cages. The vendor was an old man with white hair and a white beard, dressed in washed-out linen clothes, gentle and easy to talk to.
Everyone hid behind a tree, and Gu Qingng, gathering her courage, approached Fu Leisheng and bowed, speaking softly.
Fu Leisheng stood up, seeming quite angry, and told Gu Qingng to go back to the city.
Gu Qingng started to cry, and Fu Leisheng appeared helpless. He apologized to the vendor and, taking his hand, walked back towards the city, saying, "It’s dangerous outside the city, why do you run out here alone? Be careful, or you might disappear too!"
Everyone waited until Fu Leisheng and Gu Qingng had walked far away before erging from behind the trees. Shen Yusheng’s eyes flickered as he said, "Master Fu took the bait. Let’s follow them!"
They hurriedly ca out from behind the trees, only to see the goose vendor stand up and stretch.
Chen Shi looked at the goose vendor and noticed that when the old man breathed out, his breath was incredibly long, continuing for quite a while!
"How can his internal organs be so resilient?" wondered Chen Shi, astonished. "He’s almost as good as ! His strength is scarcely one or two degrees less than mine!"
Just as he thought this, the goose vendor suddenly leapt up, moving so fast that he was almost a blur, and landed with a thud beside them. With a swoosh, he opened a sack and swept Hu Feifei into it!
Continuing his rapid leaps, he quickly bagged Shen Yusheng and the other three as well.
Chen Shi hesitated for a mont, resisting the urge to act.
"Thud!"
The flea-like old man dropped from the sky, landing in front of Chen Shi and Black Pot, grinned sinisterly, and stuffed them into the sack as well.
Inside the sack, Chen Shi and Black Pot found only darkness and size unguessable. The sack was empty except for the five trembling large white geese.
"It’s indeed this old man causing trouble!"
Chen Shi spoke out, only to hear a goose’s squawk co from his mouth. Looking down, he saw his body covered in white feathers—he had also turned into a large white goose!
He looked over at Black Pot, who was still a dog, sitting there with his tongue out.
"Selling geese, selling geese!"
The goose vendor’s voice called out from outside, "Country’s large white geese, kid’s large white geese, perfect for a big iron pot stew, delicious and life-extending! Does the county magistrate want so geese? Fresh kid’s large white geese!"
A sowhat authoritative voice replied, "These geese are indeed fresh. My wife loves stewed large geese in an iron pot. Please deliver them to the county office."
"Alright!"
