Then they would be bound by invisible ropes, placed in small open caskets.
Even though the door was open, they could not move an inch.
Then, they’d feel peculiar heat moving around inside their bodies, and they’d be compelled to take strange postures to attack other Evil Spirits.
The number of Evil Spirits near Qianyang Mountain had greatly decreased. So moved away overnight, so went into hiding, and others attached themselves to rocks and trees to avoid the new Evil Spirit. After all, humans could always be eaten another ti, but being captured by that Evil Spirit ant suffering unspeakable indignities.
So, disbelieving in curses, insisted on going out at night to bask in the moonlight, only to disappear.
When seen again a few days later, they beca quiet and reserved, as though they had been mistreated.
What was even stranger was that any Evil Spirit captured by Chen Shi and offered incense in his small temple lost much of their interest in eating humans. Instead, their interest in the fragrance of incense grew.
So Evil Spirits burrowed into ancient trees or rugged rocks, or took up residence in so broken ancient statue, manifesting spirits, protecting passersby in exchange for incense offers.
In less than half a month, the Evil Spirits around Qianyang Mountain had mostly disappeared, and instead, more and more safe havens blessed with spirits appeared.
Refugees from other places ca to Qianyang Mountain and discovered many unclaid spirits. They offered incense, worshiped them as godmothers, and began building houses nearby, forming the beginnings of new villages.
"It seems like Chen Shi has done a great thing."
