"As you can see," Leo began.
"We really aren’t in any need of an alliance to be able to protect our territory. And you should also know that it’s not just we three who are strong enough to fight." He referred to Sylrael and Naelith.
"So... tell sothing that will be beneficial to us both. Because right now, I can only see you benefiting from this."
Tavian nodded.
"That’s natural to think that way, and yes, it would have been the other territory gaining one-sidedly if I weren’t present," Tavian said, completely serious.
Leo raised his brow.
"So? What is in it for us if you are present? Because from where you currently stand, you pose no threat to ." Leo said it plainly—he had already defeated Tavian once, and unlike him, Tavian hadn’t suddenly gained strength. This only pushed Tavian deeper into the corner.
"Tell , what can my talent do?"
Leo thought for a while.
"Arrays? I noticed while fighting that your eyes glow with a different light whenever you exert yourself."
"True, but can my talent only allow to fight?" Tavian questioned.
Leo frowned.
"I don’t understand. Of course, it’s a life talent and will obviously have other uses outside fighting..."
But as Leo spoke, realization dawned on the group; even Kaelion and Lily understood.
"You will build arrays in my territory?" Leo confird.
"Yes, that’s what an Array Master does. If we ally, the first benefit you get is that my territory mbers and I will not attack, and trust , the last thing you want is for to support other students when they attack. And the other benefit is that I will personally build various arrays and formations across your territory lands that will defend, confuse and even attack the intruders." He then added another point.
"Oh, and the fact that Uraan is allowed to attack you because he is ranked lower than you is a major threat. In the competition, his falcon didn’t get enough charge ti for its attack, but with hundreds and even thousands of kilotres of free space around his territory, it has free rein. It might co in a blink and disappear in a blink, only for you to realise half of your territory mbers were defeated."
Tavian continued,
"I can build arrays that will provide omnidirectional sensing of living beings for more than a few kilotres. With this, we will get a few monts to prepare in case of a devastating attack cos"
Leo and the others listened to him intently; his reasoning was indeed plausible.
"And for this, we will help you defend your territory on occasions it is attacked?"
"Yeah, it can be true for you also. Because I am sure we won’t be staying in our territory all the ti. We will get our compulsory yearly mission soon enough. It might even leave the territory unattended for more than a month."
"At that ti, your territory mbers and my territory mbers can cooperate to defend each other."
Leo thought for a while.
"How long does a large-scale array usually take to build? And how much do they cost? As you can see, my territory is very large."
"It depends on the type of array. If an array covers a whole territory as big as yours, it might take around 10 hours of continuous work. And for the cost, don’t worry about my charges—just pay for the materials."
This ti, Kaelion asked,
"Only 10 hours for such a big place? Will you be working with others?" he asked. For a territory as big as Leo’s, it would take a single person more than a day.
"Don’t worry about that. I will be working alone, and my talent helps speed things up."
It was then that Lily addressed the last concern.
"The help you will get in defending your territory—it is possible that we won’t co personally and will send others. And they happen to be... uh, in a sensitive status. What if your territory mbers mistreat them? And I will tell you, I don’t even want any weird looks toward them, because they will be allowed to defend themselves."
"Sensitive status? Slaves, you an?" Tavian confird, and Lily nodded.
"Oh... If you are asking that, then they must be female slaves. Of course, be assured. Even if they happen to be elves, I will strictly tell my territory mbers to treat them like any other human and comrade-in-arms. And for your assurance, I will personally kick out any person who mistreats them. There is no need for any degenerate person in my territory. I belong to a very respectful family, and I want that to reflect in my actions."
Sohow, Tavian arrived at the correct conclusion about the slaves being elves even though he hadn’t been told.
"So? Did your newbie protection period end?" Leo asked.
"No? Only 10 days have passed since I ford my territory, so I can rest easy for 20 more days."
Tavian looked around, noticing all three of them looking at him weirdly.
"What happened?"
"Well... I guess you need to start working in my territory, because 9 days have already passed since the protection period ended."
Tavian was taken aback after realising that Leo’s territory would be attacked within 21 days, and it could even be tomorrow. But then his face brightened.
"Wait, so you will be forming an alliance?" he confird.
"Of course, but on one condition," Leo said.
"Say it, whatever it is."
"You won’t reveal anything about us or my territory to anyone, not even your territory mbers. Since you will be forming arrays all over, you will naturally co across many things that we want to keep secret."
Tavian nodded.
"Of course. I promise I will not say anything to anybody, even my territory mbers."
Leo smiled.
"Great, let’s do it then."
With that, Leo tapped on his phone in the Aurelius Academy App and looked for the alliance option under the territory section. After that, they both completed the necessary process.
