Chapter 386: A Better Flying Ride
Leo promptly brought out the system panels that displayed the talent descriptions.
---
Leo’s Talent - Beastiary of Souls, *Primordial Beast Taming*
[Beastiary of Souls] - 5 stars -> 8 stars
[All changes that occurred as the talent ranked up from the initial 5-star rank when Leo awakened with a common soul; one arrow represents 1 change per rank up.]
Effect 1: Can collect the beast essence from the core of a slain beast, rendering the core useless. Later, the stored essence can be used to enhance a similar type of tad beast’s or beast core’s bloodline and strength. The essence contains a random skill of the slain beast, which can be absorbed by the recipient beast.
Effect 2: Can collect the soul essence of beasts that have gained intelligence and use it to enhance the soul of the [talent holder] -> talent holder and beings connected by the talent holder’s soul. With an [extrely rare] -> 50% chance to extract a [talent] -> talent, or guaranteed skill extraction from the soul if talent extraction fails.
[Primordial Beast Taming] - 10 stars
Effect: The bond ford due to this talent is a ’Primordial Bond.’ Even if the beast and tar are not fully bonded, it allows the tar to share senses and strength with their tad beasts. As the bond level increases, the tar can share more strength with their bonded beast and even communicate with them.
Chain Bond - 30% share, Blood Bond - 50% share, Soul Bond - 100% 100% in fusion form
---
Lily’s Talent: [Spirit Caller] - 7 stars -> 9 stars
[When Leo had first checked Lily’s talent, she had a rare soul, which ant her talent was capped at 7-star. By the ti of academy selection, her soul had advanced one rank, raising the talent to 8-star.]
Effect 1: Allows the user to awaken the lingering souls within beast cores and summon their spirit beasts to fight temporarily under their command. These ethereal beasts retain the instincts and abilities of their living forms, though in a weakened state, and [disappear once the core’s essence fades] -> disappear once the user cuts the mana supply to the beast’s spirit form.
However, the user can also form Spirit Contracts, permanently binding a beast’s soul to their own, allowing them to summon it at will and even share 50% of its strength through the soul link (including stats and skills). The number of spirits a summoner can call and control at once depends on their ntal resilience and mana capacity, while the number of contracted spirits depends on their soul strength (sa as the soul rank value).
-> Can permanently resurrect a dead beast into a spirit beast at the cost of a large amount of mana. The resurrected beast does not retain its mories—only basic instincts and personality—and if left uncontracted, becos a wandering spirit beast.
Effect 2: ??? [Dormant]
[Epic Soul – 3/5 contracted Spirits]
[Warning – Summoning spirits from high-level cores may cause severe backlash.]
---
Damn! Leo exclaid internally after reading the updated descriptions.
The more their souls ranked up, the more their talents beca god-tier. Especially Lily’s—there was still that dormant effect, which ant her talent potential reached a full 10 stars, just like his [Primordial Beast Taming].
He also noticed a major improvent in his other talent—he now had a 50% chance to extract a talent from an intelligent beast!
Wait... what if my [Beastiary Of Souls] is also a 10-star?
He imdiately shook his head, a faint breath escaping him. That was going too far. He was already a monster with this much power; he couldn’t even imagine what would happen if both of his talents reached 10 stars.
Still, a tiny hope lingered.
At Super Rare soul rank, a talent could reach a maximum of 8 stars—and that was exactly what his showed. Which ant if it advanced to Epic, there was still a small chance it could beco 9-star... or even 10-star at Legendary soul.
"Lily, try it. Focusing on your talent can channel your mana to completely resurrect that Skyreaver," Katherine said, then turned toward Leo.
"Hold her hand. I know your soul bond has reached the stage where you can share your mana through contact."
Leo nodded.
Is there any need? he wondered, glancing at Lily’s mana pool.
Mana: 260,780 / 303,500
According to them, resurrecting a Low 4-star beast required 240,000 mana units—and Lily had more than enough.
Maybe even higher ranks like them can’t assess a person’s mana pool... Leo concluded.
He had already suspected it when even he couldn’t read the mana of others, but now it was clear. People could only estimate strength through the other four attributes—Vitality, Strength, Agility, and Stamina.
As for why mana couldn’t be sensed—it was directly tied to the soul, and the soul was incredibly difficult to examine unless one was a specialist.
Leo stepped forward and held her hands anyway, just in case she needed support. Her fingers were slightly cold from the cold environnt.
Mana: 260,780 -> 257,890
Lily closed her eyes and began to concentrate as her mana steadily drained. But in the very next mont, Leo replenished it.
Mana: 257,890 -> 278,900
And just like that, the resurrection process began.
The Skyreaver’s spirit body flickered violently, the air around it humming. Its form grew denser, shifting into a darker, storm-laced shade. It expanded to its full size—20 ters in body length, with long, folded wings stretching nearly 100 ters.

At that mont, the spirit’s eyes snapped open, crackling faintly with energy, and it let out a piercing screech.
SKRRRREEEEEEEE!
They had chosen a remote corner of the territory to avoid interruptions, but the mont the beast cried out, Kaelion imdiately rushed toward the source, alert for danger.
Lily slowly opened her eyes, a faint exhale leaving her lips.
"It’s done... I can feel it now. I don’t need mana to keep this spirit bird alive anymore. It can survive on its own."
"Which ans even I can ta it now?"
The group turned at the sudden voice—Kaelion had arrived.
