Chapter 442: Racial Benefits

Leo once again looked back at the nervous cluster of Gnos, who had received their clothing and basic necessities from the Elves. That was what Lily and Miho had gone to buy earlier.

Though, it was more accurate to say he was looking down at them.

"3 feet..." he muttered, then looked back at Torbin, who was apparently a Peak 1-star. An individual almost 10 tis stronger, according to what his status said.

"No way. I’m confident I can beat him even when I was a normal human... well, let’s say a mid-1-star human who is supposedly 5 tis stronger," Leo said, not at all convinced that Torbin, as a Peak 1-star, was equal to him when he himself had been Peak 1-star.

Shaking his head, Leo saw that the distribution would still take so ti, so he promptly returned to the Academy through the teleportation array and headed straight toward the library to look for answers.

After searching through the appropriate sections, he finally found the book he needed.

[Racial Traits of Bipedal Creatures and All You Need To Know About Them]

That was the title of the book, but...

"What in the world...?" he muttered, staring at the pile of books in front of him and the countless more lining the shelves.

"Part 1 to Part 789... and what does that last part say?"

[The latest part will arrive within a month after the study on new variants of the Humanoid Beetles is completed]

"God damn!" Leo exclaid.

Thankfully, there was no one around his area on the fifth floor of the library, or else he might have gotten so strange glances.

But what truly shocked Leo was that each part--or rather, each complete encyclopedia in itself--was at least 6 inches thick.

Leo imdiately realised he had stumbled upon the Species Records, where all species in the world were docunted, but this particular section was dedicated solely to traits. Slowly, almost robotically, he turned his head and leaned toward another side of the library.

And then he saw it.

[Biological Structure Of All Found And Researchable/Dissectable Insect Beings]

There were more than 2000 parts and an entire section of the library dedicated to it, with over 5000 books because it even included diagrams. Leo curiously pulled out a specific volu--Part 1469--and opened a random page.

As if struck by a flashbang, he froze. His eyes were glued to the page almost instantly. It described a humanoid wasp-type creature. She was a female creature who looked more beautiful than many girls in the academy.

After that, the next section detailed her entire biological structure alongside an intricate diagram.

He turned another page and found a massive Dragonfly beast, more like a dragon itself, displayed with detailed diagrams and dissected body parts.

*pic*

Leo ceremoniously closed the book and swiped it away. The book automatically floated back to its original place, though not before a refresh magic was cast over it, making it appear untouched once more.

Everything here was automatic. If Leo struggled to find any book, he only needed to type the general idea into the tab beside the study table, and the library would mark the waypoints toward the book’s location.

Leo also noticed another ssage written across the library walls.

[Teleportation devices under construction. After installation, you will be directly transported to your target books instantly.]

Leo sighed in relief after reading that, or else he would have needed to walk kilotres just to reach his destination in later days when he looked for more specific books. The fifth floor alone was more than 10 kilotres wide. And the entire library existed within a space pocket, making it nearly invulnerable to damage.

Sotis Leo even used his stealth to blend into the shadows and increase his movent speed while travelling through the library.

At one point, Leo also realised the library was connected across all academies and even the Imperial Palace itself. Which ant the exact place he was standing in could also be accessed by students from other academies. There was always a chance he might stumble upon them, though it was rare since most students didn’t bother coming here to study. To them, it was a waste of ti when they could simply train instead.

But only Leo realised just how marvellous and dangerous this library truly was.

He could literally find the weaknesses of the beasts he needed to hunt here--their capabilities, traits, powers, and everything else--then prepare beforehand to strike. Though it was undeniably ti-consuming because every topic had entirely different books dedicated to it.

Still, Leo quickly got himself back on track and specifically searched for Gnos. Soon, the waypoints for the books appeared before his eyes, and he followed them.

[Racial Traits] - Gnos.

[Innate Earth Affinity] — Gnos naturally possess weak compatibility with the earth elent, granting them better harmony with soil, stone, tals, and underground environnts.

[Naturally Industrious] — Gnos are diligent, thodical, and highly productive by nature, rarely wasting resources, ti, or effort in their work.

[Sharp Analytical Minds] — Gnos possess naturally curious and practical minds, giving them strong problem-solving abilities and exceptional talent for learning technical or structured disciplines.

But this still didn’t give Leo the answer he was looking for.

He continued searching, flipping through more books, yet still couldn’t find it.

Why would a Peak 1-star Gno be weaker than a Peak 1-star Human?

That was the question keeping him buried in the books.

Hours passed. At so point, Lily even ssaged him, asking where he was since she had already finished assigning hos to the Gnos and fed them as well. Most of them had now been given ti to rest until Leo arrived to assign proper work.

Leo: I will be back within a few hours.

Leo replied before burying himself back into the books.

Back in the territory, Lily pouted at the bland ssage. She could tell Leo was deeply focused on sothing and didn’t want to be disturbed, but she still didn’t like the way he responded to her. He didn’t even tell her exactly what he was doing!

"Looks like I need to do sothing special for him tonight, ehe." She giggled softly before heading off to prepare dinner.

Back in the library, Leo had already gone through 8 to 9 books, and the general conclusion he reached was that the physical constitution of humans was simply superior to that of Gnos.

It was as if a sa-age, sa-strength Gno and Human were placed side by side, yet it would still feel like comparing an early teenager to a fully grown adult because of the difference in their physical structures.

It was essentially a negative-factor trait.
