Now reading: Chapter 14 - 13: Ambition from Abyss Summoner, a Sci-fi novel by The heart has not yet warmed..

The third day of the apocalypse.

The temperature dropped by 8-10 degrees, light snow, so monsters began to slaughter...

Notebook.

This was Chen Feng’s only possession, a record of text that helped him clarify the changes happening each day. In three days, the temperature around him started to drop. Even in the month of May, unexpectedly, snowflakes began to fall.

The apocalyptic storm caused the seasons to beco chaotic. One mont, the sky was clear and sunny; the next, torrential rain could pour down. It would take about half a year for this bizarre weather to gradually normalize.

The number of pedestrians on the street decreased.

After three days of slaughter, humans understood their surroundings were dire. Countless ferocious monsters pervaded every corner of the city, and to survive, the survivors began to hide.

The previously bustling city had beco a city of deathly silence. Opulent malls were deserted, and expensive jewels and accessories lay scattered on the ground, among them items worth tens of thousands, or even hundreds of thousands.

These things, which were strictly guarded and coveted by countless won just a few days ago, were now discarded like trash.

Three days changed many things. The world’s structure had been reshuffled. In this new world, compared to gold and power of the civilized world, food and strength were the truly desirable things.

"Roar..."

A roar echoed in Chen Feng’s ears. He turned his head and glanced outside with his peripheral vision.

A giant creature appeared before him. It looked like a gorilla, the kind that lives in tropical rainforests. An adult chimpanzee can grow up to two ters, but this one was three ters tall, with muscles like rocks, hands the size of millstones, and sharp fangs exposed, exuding a violent aura.

Bronze Level.

This was a creature that underwent atavistic evolution, like a Hellhound. It mutated during the apocalypse and beca a new life form.

It rampaged down the street with no one able to stop it. A Giant Rock Beetle hiding in a corner attempted to resist, but was smashed into a pulp with one punch. The gorilla squatted down, grabbed the flesh with its hands, and stuffed it into its mouth. Blood and brains dripped down its chin. Clearly, this was a carnivorous animal.

Humans began to hide, and the monsters, lacking food, turned their targets on each other.

Insects and zombies, fierce beasts and Dinsional Creatures, as well as so bizarre creatures...

The entire city beca a hunting ground, with slaughter occurring every minute.

Survival of the fittest.

So insects that preyed on humans one mont might beco the prey of a flying hunter in the next.

This sort of thing was commonplace.

The monster was just passing by. Compared to old buildings like nursing hos, the "food" on the street was its target. In the blink of an eye, it disappeared from Chen Feng’s sight.

............

The Inferior Demon was banished to the Abyss.

During its battle with the Tentacle Monster, it was severely injured. After the battle, Chen Feng had it devour so monster corpses, including even two tentacles.

The Inferior Demon needed so ti to recover, but it wouldn’t take long. Once it fused with the corpses, it would soon appear before him, lively and energetic.

Devour.

The Inferior Demon was originally a mass of decaying flesh. It gained power through corpses, with a chance to fuse traits of the corpse, even so special abilities, during the process of devouring.

The appearance of the Dark Elf saved a lot of trouble. These days, countless cannon fodder died at her hands, including a Bronze Level zombie.

(No need to worry about the corpses downstairs, the streets were littered with scavengers eager for such effortless food.)

The zombies underwent mutation.

Zombies that devoured a large amount of flesh and blood accumulated enough power to mutate. Like insects, zombies ca in many varieties, with tendencies towards strength, agility, casting, and even, for so, the ability to control their kind.

Leader.

These creatures were not highly combat-capable, but they had so simple intelligence. Compared to ordinary zombies, they could even use so tactics to hunt.

............

Recently, sounds of gunfire and cannons were frequently heard.

Ti gave all creatures a chance to adapt. After a few days of acclimation, forces belonging to the military began to fight back, using so professionals and firearms to try to reclaim the city.

This required a process.

In peaceti, people grew accustod to comfort and luxury, so their physical functions had long since degraded. In the military, soldiers’ training was several tis or even ten tis that of ordinary people, greatly increasing the likelihood of professional awakening, with superior physiques, mastery of weapons, and obligation to obey orders.

Soldier.

Like growing tiger cubs, they began to show their teeth and claws.

Chen Feng needed a military identity.

Compared to ordinary Warriors, who needed to climb step by step for so food and guns, professionals, so powerful professionals, could obtain significant military ranks and privileges from the outset.

Most professionals started with the rank of corporal. Through certification of so Secret Technique, they were recognized in all military camps.

And by completing so military-issued tasks, military rank would gradually increase.

The greatest advantage of military forces was reputation.

The world had undergone massive changes. Power and transportation systems lacked maintenance, leading to widespread paralysis, with conditions where crossing hundreds or even thousands of miles a day gone for good. Many ordinary people could never leave the area a few dozen kiloters under their feet in their lifeti.

Reputation also had levels.

If so newly risen churches or gangs had roughly F-level reputation, then the military’s reputation was already B or even A.

Chen Feng understood that one person’s power was limited. If he wanted to live peacefully in this world, a force was an indispensable prerequisite.

Chen Feng needed to prepare an identity for himself first, which would facilitate when he established a force. As long as it wasn’t about large-scale oppression and slaughter, the military wouldn’t impose many constraints.

Force determined the factors for survival, while the brain decided how high one could stand.

In this completely altered world, any choice had the potential to change one’s future life.

Chen Feng had no choice before. As a fledgling Summoner, he had only worms and Skeletons at his disposal and couldn’t gain much recognition. Now, with the Inferior Demon and Dark Elf by his side, he could leverage this to gain more authority...
