The events were quite straightforward. The bespectacled man and Wei Xun were classmates from the sa school. After the apocalypse descended, they beca professionals, erging from the school and saving many people along the way, ultimately hiding out in an air raid bunker.
The bespectacled man held firmly to justice. Even though they encountered danger several tis, he would co out to search for food and provide for the ordinary people in the bunker. However, Wei Xun gradually lost patience and threatened to abandon so of the old, weak, sick, and disabled, as these people were of no help at all. This was the root of their disagreent.
Air raid bunker?
Chen Feng was not interested in the relationship between Wei Xun and the bespectacled man; instead, his attention was drawn to the bunker. He asked, "Is the bunker nearby? Take to see it."
As a structure designed to guard against disasters, an air raid bunker could indeed be considered a fortress.
Unconditional obedience.
Wei Xun nodded without any rebuttal. Chen Feng’s power far exceeded his, so he positioned himself correctly from the outset.
Taking one last look at the corpse on the ground, a trace of guilt flashed in Wei Xun’s eyes, but it was quickly replaced by resolve. He didn’t regret his decision; if he continued living his previous life, he would undoubtedly die one day?
Just stay alive.
He comforted himself, thinking it was just resistance against fate.
The two walked a short distance when suddenly a pitch-black crack appeared next to the bespectacled man. In the next second, a dozen ghastly pale arms wrapped around the corpse, dragging it into the crack.
Bronze Level.
For a heretic skilled in devouring corpses, this was considered a supplent.
The arms of the Awakened are stronger than those of an ordinary person. Chen Feng wanted to see what would happen when the arms on the Inferior Demon were completely replaced by those of professionals.
Even if one was at the Silver Level, they would have to pay a significant price to break free from a dozen professional arms wrapped around them.
They didn’t encounter any trouble along the way.
Soon, the two arrived near the air raid bunker.
The air raid bunker was dug to reduce damage from enemy air raids. Although the entrance was narrow, inside, it was a whole other world, large enough to accommodate over a thousand people.
However, now, it seed so uninvited guests surrounded the bunker.
Insects.
Chen Feng stopped and looked at the dozens of insects wandering around the entrance.
Corpse Spot Beetle.
A type of beetle that loves to devour carrion, they are as big as calves, with sharp pincers on their mouths, and their bodies are densely covered with corpse spots the size of fists.
That’s where they got their na.
Beside them were scattered internal organs, colorful and tangled, making it impossible to tell if they were intestines or kidneys. The entrance to the bunker was also piled with so remnants of corpses, both male and female, and even a few children’s bodies. If guessed correctly, these Corpse Spot Beetles were preparing to make this bunker their nest!
At this point, these beetles were working together, using pincers to cut up corpses while another group transported these remnants into the bunker. Behind them were seven or eight beetles the size of a human head, occasionally picking up a piece of intestine or internal organ to chew, like children sneaking snacks behind adults during New Year’s celebrations.
Except...
The world has changed drastically.
Humans have beco the food inside snack boxes, while beetles that used to be squashed with a single step have turned into giant monsters that can clamp an adult in half with just a light pinch.
"What’s going on here?" Chen Feng asked, pointing at the mass of insects, sowhat puzzled.
Wei Xun, on the other hand, was already accustod to it, but still said respectfully, "The bunker surroundings are damp, always attracting so insects or other monsters. Several tis when we ca back with food, we encountered such trouble. In those situations, we had to drag our tired bodies into battle, only able to enter the bunker after killing all the monsters."
Tilting his head, Chen Feng asked Wei Xun, "Can you kill them?"
Wei Xun thought for a mont, knowing Chen Feng wanted to gauge his strength. Without much thought, he nodded, accepting the battle.
An opportunity to showcase.
He wanted to prove his worth!
Corpse Spot Beetles had no rank, they just looked ferocious. Constantly consuming rotting flesh, their bodies exuded a cold, rotten scent that was sowhat unpleasant.
If an ordinary person stood next to them, they would experience nausea and vomiting.
Having survived the apocalypse for so ti, Wei Xun had fought many battles. Now, with a roar, his body was covered with scales, his pupils turned into slits, and a tail sprouted from his back, transforming into a Giant Lizard form in an instant.
"Bang!"
There was no psychological burden in killing insects. Wei Xun charged into the middle of the insect swarm, starting a massacre. He punched through a beetle’s skull and stomped another larva to death. Within a minute, he was covered in a large amount of foul-slling blood.
At this mont, the sight of their companions’ blood stirred the viciousness of the Corpse Spot Beetles. These insects, fearless of death, charged at Wei Xun with their insect limbs.
Chen Feng stood aside without any intention of intervening, taking the opportunity to assess Wei Xun’s strength.
The Corpse Spot Beetles surrounded Wei Xun. One beetle seized the mont and clamped onto his waist with its pincers. The pain in his waist made Wei Xun go berserk. He roared, grabbed the beetle’s pincers with both hands, and with a "crack," tore it in half, spilling its dark green blood on the ground.
Slaughter.
More than half of the Corpse Spot Beetles were dead or injured by now. Their morale finally broke; so beetles dared not fight anymore and began to flee toward the distance.
Giant Lizard Warrior.
In front of Chen Feng, Wei Xun was as insignificant as an ant. Yet, in front of the beetle swarm, he reclaid his ferocity, killing large swathes of insects by hand in the most brutal ways.
"Bravery you have, but you lack agility."
Chen Feng muttered to himself, giving an evaluation. Wei Xun was like a warrior, his combat style sowhat simplistic, relying on hard scales and poisonous claws to give his enemies a tough ti.
Seeing Chen Feng’s expressionless face, Wei Xun felt sowhat disappointed. He wasn’t sure if he had proved his worth in Chen Feng’s eyes. Following this, Wei Xun moved the corpses at the entrance away and perford so rudintary cleanup.
Though the bloody sll was intense, it was much cleaner than before.
"Knock, knock..."
Once everything was done, Wei Xun knocked on the iron door inside the entrance.
"Open the door, I’m back..."
