Quiz: Who's Sticking Close to Chang Long?
While alive, who ever thought about how much ti they had left? What should be done that had not been accomplished? What had been started but remained unfinished? They said life was short. One mont, soone full of life was moving, and the next, they beca silent corpses, unable to converse or fulfill their desires anymore.
Who knew this better than two young n who once lived, achieving fa that people of their era spoke of? But how many knew their greatest desires were unfulfilled as their spirits unwillingly left their bodies?
Life offered us only one chance. If you die, there was no second attempt. These two ghosts sat resignedly, unable to reincarnate, until one day, they encountered an adventurer who beca their master and friend, leading them to a strange land. In this place, the dead could be revived, feeling the flow of blood and breath in their solid body again. They experienced sensations like the warmth, cold and pain, the scent of damp earth at dawn, the salty sea air, the enticing aroma of food that made their mouths water, longing to savor the delicacies until their stomachs could hold no more...
"Aren't you eating already?"
The dream bubble popped when a voice interrupted the eloquent speech the young man had crafted from the depths of his heart, feeling grateful for being alive again.
"Why did you interrupt !"
Davy-chan scolded Chang Long. In the past, no one dared interrupt him while he was speaking. But this child he was scolding was an exception in all cases. Why? Because she was his master, the heir to the title of Pirate King, a mischievous kid who could not be left out of sight, a constant troublemaker, and much more.
"Why are you giving a speech anyway, Davy-chan?"
Hisa-chan asked, observing Davy-chan who had gathered Chang Long's friends to listen to him. The forr pirate king wanted to make a speech about being alive again after visiting the Land of the Dead.
"You don't understand anything, Hisa-chan. Giving a speech is—hey, listen to !"
Davy-chan began to explain, but no one was interested anymore. They all turned their attention to the delicious food Chang Long had conjured from the Cone of Abundance.
"Enough, Davy-chan. If you keep talking, we're not waiting,"
Chang Long said to Davy-chan for the last ti, before turning to eat with the others.
"Wait! You don't have to let give a speech, but let host the opening!"
Davy-chan quickly sat between Siegfried and Chang Long, raising a bottle of honey liquor high and loudly declaring,
"To life!"
"To life!"
Everyone echoed with a chuckle before digging into their al with gusto.
After the celebratory al, Chang Long and her friends gathered to discuss their next mission, while Davy-chan, Hisa-chan, and Kitsune played by the beach. The two young n lay on their backs, gazing at the sky, reminiscing about their once-living days.
"Davy-chan, what was it like when you were alive?"
Hisa-chan asked the forr pirate king, lying nearby on the beach.
"? Back then, there was never a mont's rest. Once you gain power and fa, your life is never peaceful again. As the Pirate King, people constantly approached —those wanting treasure, those challenging for my title, and even assassins. Finding soone truly loyal wasn't easy,"
Davy-chan replied. Despite achieving so of his desires, his life had never got happier and remained fraught with paranoia.
"And you, Hisa-chan? Your life must have been better, being the top samurai and all,"
Davy-chan asked the young samurai.
"Hehehe, it's not much different, Davy-chan. Even though I traveled everywhere, people constantly challenged . Not that I minded the challenges—I loved them—but there were many who tried to backstab when I wasn't looking, just to be known as the one who defeated , the number one samurai,"
Hisa-chan replied, reminiscing about the past.
"Your lives sound so sad. I've never experienced anything like that because my master has always been with . Whenever I see her kind smile, I'm happy. There's no need to seek fa and invite trouble,"
Kitsune said, his face showing pure happiness.
"Of course, little dog. Your whole life revolves around that girl. Being ambitious was never in your lapdog mind, unlike us!"
Davy-chan teased, feeling a bit annoyed despite agreeing with Kitsune. Ever since eting Chang Long, the darkness that had built up in his heart for centuries seed to fade away.
"L... Lapdog!"
Kitsune exclaid loudly. Just because he was always close to Chang Long, why did he have to be called a lapdog?
"Yes, you're the very definition of a lapdog,"
Davy-chan taunted, trying to suppress his laughter.
"No, I'm not! I just like being with my master the most!"
Kitsune argued loudly, his face red with anger. He was not a child to be called a lapdog. He simply enjoyed being with Chang Long. No! not just enjoyed—he loved it, very much so.
"Davy-chan, stop teasing Kitsune. Look, his face is all red,"
Hisa-chan said, laughing as he watched the young fox pouting like a three-year-old.
"I'm not teasing. I'm just stating the truth. Think about it, among us, who sticks to her like this little dog?"
Davy-chan sat up, observing seriously for the first ti after teasing Kitsune for a while.
"Why don't we test who among us sticks to Chang Long the most?"
Hisa-chan suggested.
"In that case, we need to bring out that arrogant kirin too,"
Davy-chan said, getting up to ask Chang Long to release Hulu. Kitsune glared at Davy-chan angrily before turning to Hisa-chan.
"How are we going to test that, Hisa-chan?"
"Not difficult. Let draft the test first,"
Hisa-chan replied. He took so ti to create the test to determine who among them was most attached to Chang Long.
Once Hisa-chan had prepared the test, he, Davy-chan, Kitsune, and Hulu gathered in a circle, much to the confusion of Chang Long and her friends. However, they were too engrossed in their eting about finding the twelve living people and Kearick to pay much attention. Hisa-chan distributed blank papers and pencils, got from Kimhant, to everyone and placed the questionnaire in the center.
"There are ten questions, no multiple-choice. Answer based on your true feelings. Only genuine feelings count. Alright, let's start,"
Hisa-chan explained, and everyone listened attentively. As soon as he finished, they all peered at the first question.
Davy-chan seed the most frustrated with the questions. He wrote, erased, and rewrote his answers, occasionally huffing in annoyance, which irritated Hulu next to him. Kitsune looked at him in confusion, while Hisa-chan chuckled. After so ti, everyone appeared ready to submit their answers to Hisa-chan for review.
"Wait, why are you the one checking? You'll just be biased!"
Davy-chan complained. Hisa-chan pondered for a mont, realizing Davy-chan had a point, so he decided to bring in an outsider to help grade their answers.
Kimhant followed Hisa-chan, puzzled. The young man had been asked to help review answers and make a final decision on sothing, even though others like Siegfried, Draco, or even Chang Long herself were around. Hisa-chan explained that the others were in a eting and he did not want to disturb them. Since Kimhant seed to be the most unoccupied among them, he was the best choice to help.
"Whose paper is this with all the erasures?"
Kimhant asked as he gathered the answer sheets from Chang Long's companions.
"Mine!"
Davy-chan responded gruffly, causing Kimhant to jump in surprise.
"Uh... okay, I'll read everyone's answers then."
Question 1: What is the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning?
Davy-chan: Beautiful won. Seeing sothing beautiful first thing in the morning makes the whole day refreshing.
Hisa-chan: Sword practice, followed by a bath.
Kitsune: My master, of course. But it doesn't matter if it's morning, noon, or night; I always think of my master.
Hulu: (\\/)(\\/)(\\/)(\\/)(\\/)

Kitsune quickly denied the accusation and looked to Hulu for support. Hulu nodded, confirming that Kitsune's translation was accurate. Davy-chan's eyes widened with skepticism, but he said nothing further. Hisa-chan laughed and gave Kitsune a thumbs-up for his impressive skill.
Question 2: After breakfast, what do you want to do the most?
Davy-chan: After eating, I need to rinse my mouth with so alcohol. The stronger, the better
Hisa-chan: Continue practicing my sword techniques.
Kitsune: Go for a walk with my master.
Hulu: (translated) More gems, please. She always gives just one or two (elental gems), and it's never enough!

Question 5: If Chang Long had to choose one of us to go on a mission with her, who would it be?
Davy-chan: It should be . I'm high level, knowledgeable, have leadership qualities, and can warn her of dangers!
Hisa-chan: Whoever Chang Long decides.
Kitsune: Whoever my master thinks is useful. It doesn't have to be .
Hulu: She has three others to choose from; she probably won't pick .

Hisa-chan: I'd leave it there. It could belong to soone else, and I don't want trouble if they co looking for it.
Kitsune: A large bottle of black rose tea. I'd bring it to my master so she could enjoy it when Davy-chan or Hisa-chan possess her body, easing her pain.
Hulu: A mountain of elental gems. I'd keep it all to myself and not share with anyone!
Question 8: If you got lost in the forest and couldn't find your way out, who would you think to ask for help from first?
Davy-chan: A hunter. Hopefully, one would pass by and guide out.
Hisa-chan: Self-reliance. I'd take a rest and then start looking for a way out again.
Kitsune: My master, of course. I would communicate with her telepathically. I know she would never abandon .
Hulu: ……
"Hulu doesn't have an answer for this one!"
Davy-chan asked, surprised.
"Really, you didn't answer this one, Hulu?"
Hisa-chan inquired, but Hulu just turned his head away haughtily.
"It's because he's so arrogant. That's why no one is there to help him when he's in trouble,"
Davy-chan said sternly. Hulu seed startled by his words but did not show any other reaction.
"I believe that even if Hulu didn't ask for help, our master would still co to aid,"
Kitsune said cheerfully. Hisa-chan smiled in agreent, Davy-chan made a noise indicating "sothing like that", and Hulu remained silent as usual.
"Alright, I'll read the next question,"
Kimhant said when no one added anything further.
Question 9: If you had to be separated from Chang Long for a whole day, how would you feel?
Davy-chan: It'd be good. Seeing her face all day is boring (but the erased part says, Of course, I'd worry if she's gone the whole day).
Hisa-chan: Worried, but Chang Long isn't a child anymore. She can take care of herself.
Kitsune: I'd be worried and restless the whole day, thinking about her!
Hulu: I'd probably be starving…
Question 10: If the Goddess Veritas granted you one wish, what would it be?
Davy-chan: I'd wish for my heir to beco the pirate king, of course!
Hisa-chan: I'd wish to travel freely with Chang Long and everyone forever.
Kitsune: Obviously, I'd wish to stay with my master forever, even if I have to beco a spirit like Davy-chan or Hisa-chan.
Hulu: Unlimited elental gems for life!
After reviewing everyone's answers, Kimhant ranked them as expected by Hisa-chan. However, Davy-chan was stunned, not expecting to be in this position. He did not think he should be labeled as soone who clings to Chang Long.
"First place is the boss. I thought so. Second place is Davy-chan. I expected this too. Even though you act like you don't care, you worry about our master a lot. Third is Hisa-chan. You seem like an older brother to our master. Fourth is Hulu, who seems to only care about our master when food is involved…"
"Hmph! See, little dog, even without answering these silly questions, everyone can see how much you cling to our master,"
Davy-chan said with a scowl, addressing Kitsune.
"I admit it. Unlike you, who worries about our master but doesn't show it. If not for answering these questions, you might not have realized it yourself,"
Kitsune retorted, making Davy-chan grit his teeth.
"What did you say, little dog? You dare to talk back to ?"
Davy-chan shouted. Kitsune laughed and quickly ran to Chang Long. Hisa-chan patted the shoulder of the forr pirate king, comforting the father who was protective of his daughter but did not admit it while laughing lightly. Kimhant and Hulu returned to the group of Chang Long and the others, who seed to have finished their discussion. One was scared of being scolded, while the other was ready to beg for so elental gems.
