Now reading: Chapter 192: The Colosseum (10) from Adventures of the last Wild Dragon, a Fantasy novel by SaddersSpecial.

With both girls having secured their first victory within the tournant they had so ti to rest, not that either of them truly needed that ti. Despite these people supposedly being so of the best and brightest fighters of the city, both girls felt slightly underwheld with their strength.

Sure their opponents were strong, no one that made it to the main event was weak. Yet their is a clear difference between soone strong, and then soone truly powerful.

Both Violet and Luna would fit comfortably within the truly powerful category, so to face off against opponents around their own level was not enough to truly push them to their limits.

Unless of course they chose to make the fights harder themselves. So they both naturally did so, limiting the amount of skills they utilised, only fighting in a certain way. They both implented their own form of restrictions on how they would fight, at least until they encountered soone strong enough to truly push them to their limit.

This was further exemplified during Violet’s next fight. She did not go in using her magic as her primary weapon, no she opted to try out fighting up close whilst in her humanoid form, sothing that she had thus far not experienced.

Now this isn’t to say that she didn’t use any magic, no that would be silly as Violet was primarily a mage. No violet instead opted to only use it in combination with physical violence.

So her opponent was naturally confused when instead of staying back and casting her spells, Violet instead blinked right next to them and proceeded to lash out with her fists.

Granted her opponent took the unexpected situation in stride, quickly adapting to the new situation. He was a classical warrior, wearing a mix of leather and plate mail, he wielded a singular long sword with comndable proficiency.

Yet as the fight went on Violet began to notice so issues with how the man fought. He lacked a certain... viciousness, lacked the desire to kill his opponent, to win regardless of what it may take to do so.

Sure he was a well trained swordsman that had likely killed many beasts, yet Violet got the feeling that this man had never faced any true danger in his life. So when he was faced with a vicious predator that was willing to do nearly anything possible to win, well his refined techniques soon began to fall away.

Violet stuck to a small number of her skills, [Mana Reinforcent, Tail Whip, Void cloak and Blink.] Other than these skills Violet used no other skill.

Mana reinforcent boosted her physical abilities by running mana through her muscles, bones and ligants. Under its effects she moved faster and hit harder than she naturally could. Her Void cloak added so needed defence whilst also allowing her to utilise her claws as weapons while in this form.

Tail whip was ironically her only true physical damaging skill, sure she had pounce but that was predominantly used for quickly closing the distance between her and a foe.

So Violet fought, she stuck close to her foe, never allowing him to make space with his long weapon. Her fists connected with him, the rapid slap of flesh on tal ringing out in the arena. Yet it was the armour that broke first not Violet’s fists, clad in a coating of void mana and bolstered by the enhanced strength of mana running through her veins each blow rocked the man.

When he tried to jump back or circle around her Violet would either blink to a new spot or would lash out with her tail to knock him off ballence.

Eventually he could take no more, his body had been battered and almost broken, yet he refused to concede, so Violet finished him off with a simple void spear, the golden glow enveloped him and his ti within the tournant was no more.

Luna’s next fight was hardly even a true fight. She was matched up against a burly mage, she was a beastkin, so kind of snake based on the fact that her lower half was just a scale covered tail which she used to move around on.

The mage used air mana, she started the fight off with powerful blade of air, invisible to the naked eye and sharp enough to cut bone. Saddly for the mage she was simply unable to even touch Luna.

Luna moved like a ghost, never in the spot the mage thought she should be. She danced across the arena, her movents gracefull and srising, drawing attention to one direction only for her to move in the opposite.

She opted to not use her illusions in this fight, restricting herself to only her movent skills and summoning a blade into her hand, a simple sword for a simple fight.

Naturally if she landed multiple hits she would build up stacks of her Chain Strike skill, so in order to not allow herself to just that particular skill she decided on another simple rule. She must end the fight in a single blow.

So she danced, slowly moving closer and closer to the wind mage. Said mage throw ever more powerful magics at her, from bullets to blades to small whirlwinds that kicked up the sand and turned the arena into a miniature sandstorm.

Saddly for the mage that was not the brightest of ideas. For whilst it did indeed limit visibility for all parties involved, Luna didn’t truly need to see to be able to know where the mage was. That was for a simple reason, the mages own arrogance.

For during the entire fight the mage never once moved, stubbornly remaining in the sa place as when the fight started. Luna wondered why a wind mage would limit herself to not move but quickly gave up that line of thinking as she ducked under another blade aid for her head.

Hidden in the sandstorm Luna slowly circled the mage, steadily getting closer and closer to her foe. The mage sending wide area attacks out to blast away entire chunks of the sandy ground. That only added to the sandstorm howver, every grain of sand kicked up just limited visibility all the more.

Soon Luna found her chance, dashing forward at rapid speed her blade impacted the neck of the mage, only being stopped by the familiar golden glow.

When the mage was teleported out all of the sand instantly dropped to the ground, when the crowd could once more see the fighters they bore witness to Luna standing unhard in the midddle of the arena, a smile on her lips as she gave a small wave. The crowd cheered her na as she made her way back towards her waiting room.
