Now reading: Chapter 267: Upgrading the Skills from Adventures of the last Wild Dragon, a Fantasy novel by SaddersSpecial.

The afternoon was shifting into evening by the ti that Violet and Luna erged from the ocean and made their way back up the beach. The blue sky changing colour to that of warm orange.

The two of them had explored the coral towers for a little while longer once Luna had fully recovered from absorbing the bulb. They had gotten into a couple more fights but hadn’t found anything that actually interested them personally.

Violet did find a quite interesting rock that radiated healing energies inside one of the towers though, whilst not ideal for either Violet or Luna it would be good for Susan so the the dragon opted to keep it, it was loot from their victory so it was rightfully her after all!

Saddly however, they had not managed to level up again during their short battles. But that did not deter their mood as they both felt nicely refreshed as they made their way back towards the grasslands.

Soon enough the two beasts had arrived in the relatively flat ground, here they both transford back into their humanoid forms and Violet promptly took out their hut, the two girls waisting no ti in entering.

Once inside the two girls made their way over to the sofa upon which they promptly collapsed down into its comfey depths. Letting out sighs of contentnt the two girls snuggled into each other as they enjoyed the quiet mont together.

Only after so ti did Luna break the silence. "Hey so did you also have so skill upgrade tokens to use after our levels ups?"

Violet froze at those words, she quickly checked her status screen before letting out a low groan of annoyance. "Awww I knew I forgot sothing! We should have sorted them out before we went swimming! Oh well, better late than never I suppose, I’m gonna go through mine now!"

Luna chuckled at that. "Haha yeah that does seem about right for you, but yeah I think I’ll join you in that, I do have a couple of skills that I’d like to upgrade myself."

With that sorted the two girls settled down and began to go over their available skills to upgrade, each of them excited to further strengthen their abilities.

Violet first looked over her now quite extensive skill list.

Dragon Heart lvl (Max)

Flight lvl 2

Runic Magic lvl 12

Other than dragon heart, which was a skill that did t seem to have any levels. Violet only had 4 skills at max level, she also almost instantly discounted two of them, those being pounce and tail whip.

Whilst they were so of the earliest skills that she ever gained and had found great use with them in her early days, she rarely found herself using them any more, often relying on other abilities that better suited her current battle style.

That just left void shield and mana reinforcent. She had truly felt that her void shield was truly begining to fall behind, whilst she may be able to block the odd attack with it, more often than not the shield simply shattered whenever it was faced with an above average attack.

That vulnerability was sothing that Violet would be happy to remove.

Mana reinforcent on the other hand was a quite passive skill that she often found herself forgetting about. Still that did not an that the skill was useless by any stretch, it was a silent boost to her every action.

The skill, as the na suggested, reinforced her body and to a lesser extent her mana constructs. This allowed her to put more power into her movents without causing harm to herself, or for her scales to withstand more damage before they broke.

Both skills would be very useful to upgrade and Violet found no reason not to use her two upgrade tokens on them. Plus it didn’t seem like any of her other skills were very close to reaching max level any ti soon.

It was worth noting that so of the skills that she had previously upgraded had already surpassed level 20, which was the normal max level for skills. But once upgraded once they could now grow to be level 40 before they hit their new max level.

With that in mind Violet applied one of her upgrade token to the first skill.

[Upgrade token applied to Void Shield, options listed below:

Enhanced Void Sheild

Segnted Void Shield

Repulsive Void Shield ]

As normal Violet looked over the options, her intelligence provided a solid understanding of what each of the different options entailed.

Enhanced void shield was just the simple and straight forward upgrade choice, it bolstered the defensive properties of the skill whilst keeping the cost at a reasonable level. Past that it actually did very little, this options whilst undoubtedly useful, felt sowhat lacking for Violet leaving her to look over at the next two options eagerly.

Segnted Void shield was interesting, it too held the bolstered defenses of the enhanced version, albeit to a lesser degree than the direct upgrade. However, what this one lacked in quality it made up for in quantity.

She would be able to effectively summon multiple small shields all at once, they could overlap to provide greater defence from a single direction, or be spread out to provide lesser protection over a wider area. An interesting choice to be sure, that only left the last option to look over.

Repulsive Void Sheid was where things took a different turn, this skill was fairly similar to the enhanced option but with a twist. It was able to effectively ’absorb’ a certain amount of damage, then it would be able to redirect the absorbed force back towards the attacker.

This was interesting, and Violet could think of so use for the skill. Still it felt sowhat lacking when compared to the usefulness of the segnted option, with that in mind Violet settled on her choice.

[Skill Void Sheild has been upgraded to - Segnted Void Shield lvl 1]

Happy with her decision Violet swiftly moved on to look at her second skill to upgrade.

[Upgrade Token applied to Mana Reinforcent.

Options listed below:

Enhanced Mana Reinforcent

Void Reinforcnt

Limit Break ]

Like before Violet went through the upgrade options with interest. The first one was just a straight up upgrade as normal.

It would bolster every effect that the skill currently did, making her stronger, faster and her skills just a bit stronger. A solid options all around if a bit boring.

The second option was a more magical upgrade path. It differed from the old skill by focusing its boosts on her mana instead of her body, it would still enhance her body to a certain extent, just not at the level that it would do with the enhanced option.

Instead this option would focus on bolstering her mana, her constructs would be improved fundantally, her bolts and spears would be stronger, sturdier and deal more damage. Overall an interesting option but one that she found slightly less appealing seeing as she already had a few skills that already helped her mana.

Lastly she looked over the third option, Limit Break. Now this was a truly interesting skill, it almost entirely removed the passive boost to her strength, it still provided the smallest of boosts, but similar to what the skill previously did when she first got it.

What changed was that this skill now had an active component that had a truly impressive effect. When activated all of Violet’s stats would increase by around 15%, this would cost a decent chunk of mana, but nothing that Violet couldn’t afford with her impressive mana pool.

As a trade off for this boost however, she could only maintain the skill for a few minutes at most and when the skill ended she would suffer a backlash of sorts where she would in turn be weakened and her stats temporarily reduced. Violet did instinctively understand that both the length of the boost as well as the severity of the backlash would be increased and reduced respectively as she leveled up the skil however.

As she looked over these options she thought on how she would like to grow stronger. Would she prefer more physical might, more magic might or to be able to temporarily fight well above her strength.

She did not have to think long before she ca to her decision.

[Skill Mana Reinforcnt upgraded to - Limit Break lvl 1]

With that Violet was quite happy with her skill upgrades and looked over to see how Luna was doing with her own.
