By the end of the second week the two had grown quite a lot thanks to the various fruits and treasures they had consud from exploring around a dozen different valleys. They were in fact approaching the centre of the plateau and they had discovered that the valleys tended to get bigger and bigger the further in they went. Now that’s not to say that all of them increased in size but as a general trend they did.
Currently they were just exiting a particularly nasty valley which seed to be dominated by mud mana, they didn’t actually know if that was an actual mana type but based on the fact that the entire valley was just a muddy bog they were inclined to believe it. "I swear that is the last ti I trust your gut on which valley we enter! Their wasn’t even anything worthwhile in there!" Luna complained to her companion.
It was indeed understandable why she was in such a foul mood. For she was covered head to toe in filth, they had been making their way through the valley for almost 2 full days and she was thourghly done with it. Plus she desperately wanted a bath!
"I’m sorry okay, I thought I slt sothing good down there. How was I to know that their was nothing actually good down there." Violet for her part did not look any better than her beastkin companion. Her scales were thick with mud and muck to the point that one would be forgiven for thinking that her natural colour was brown not purple.
Letting out a huff of annoyance and conveniently forgetting that she too was just as eager to enter the mud valley at first Luna magnanimously opted to forgive Violet, for a price.
"I’ll forgive you if you can find us a stream or sowhere to wash off." She paused for a mont then smirked as she continued. "Plus you are cooking tonight!"
The dragons shoulders slumped in defeat as she begrudgingly accepted those terms. It wasn’t that she didn’t enjoy cooking, it’s more that in order to actually cook she was forced to take on her humanoid form. Whilst she had nothing against that form, in fact she had grown to quite like it as it allowed her to fit into smaller places and she could actually give propper hugs! Sothing she had grown quite fond of.
No what she didn’t like about having to take that form is that it ant getting dressed! And perhaps more importantly it ant that Luna would pester her to try out different outfits from her collection. And it was quite the collection!
Her mother was apparently quite the fashionista as she had hundreds of different outfits, all of which sohow fit Violet perfectly. She still wasn’t quite sure how that happened but presud magic to be the cause as the shirt and pants that Luna had appropriated for herself also fit her perfectly.
So resigned to her fate of being forced to play dress up for her friend, Violet set off in search of a place to wash off.
It only took them around half an hour to find an appropriate stream, and they even stumbled across a natural pool along the side of said stream. Quickly killing the overly large duck like beast that was actually level 31 the duo made their way into the stream to wash off. Luna didn’t even bother getting undressed till she had scrubbed out so of the ss from her armour.
After relaxing for a while Violet did transform back into her human form to ease cleaning herself, really having hands was great! She doubted she would ever get over how convent they were! Saddly though they had to exit the water which ant that Violet was subjected to a thankfully brief show and display till Luna selected her outfit for the night.
Given that the sun was now making its way towards the horizon the two quickly retreated to a clearing they had spotted on their way to the river to set up camp for the night.
They had drastically upgraded their camping set up over these weeks. They now had a selection of furs and blankets courtesy of their hunts and discovered in the literal piles of miscellaneous items stored within her ring. She still had hardly dug through a quarter of the hoard of stuff and was sure that their would be so treasures hidden away but was in no rush to find them all just yet.
Once the basics of the camp were set Violet decided to cook the overgrown duck and set to work prepping the kill. One more benefit of their explorations, especially through the nature attuned valleys was an abundance of edible plant life. This helped them vary their diet away from purely at, surprisingly Violet actually quite enjoyed so of the plants quite a lot and decided to cook so in with the duck.
So ti later the al was ready and the two dug in. "Mhmm this is really good! You’ve really gotten good at cooking recently! Might have to make you the permanent cook between us!"
Violet froze at those words a shiver running down her spine as she realised that would an having to dress up more! She knew she should have pretended to suck at cooking! Curse her desire for tasty food!
Seeing the look of horror on her companions face at that Luna couldn’t help but laugh out loud in amusent. "Hey it’s not funny! If I beco the cook then you will make dress up all the ti! I still don’t like having to wear things, it just feels weird!"
Realising the source of her companions horror stricken face only caused Luna to laugh even harder. She just couldn’t help it, seeing her beco so flustered when trying on different outfits was just so cute that she couldn’t help herself but make her try on as many different outfits as she could get away with.
She did also have a secondary reason for wanting her dressed though one which she refused to say out loud for fear of how Violet would take it. That was that whenever she saw Violet in her humanoid form without clothing she started to get a weird feeling in her gut. She would flush constantly and struggled to look away but knew that she shouldn’t stare. It was all very confusing for the girl but she thought she might know why.
She was not all too knowledgeable about such matters but she had heard a few stories growing up and heard how her parents had talked about each other when they were younger. And she was beginning to think that she too was experiencing sothing similar. Her feelings around her troubleso dragon were quite the ss.
On one had she trusted her completely, she was her best and only friend and would do anything for her. She knew that Violet felt the sa way about her in that regard. But what about feelings beyond that? Was it possible for them to be more than just companions? Was it right for Luna to be so emotionally dependent on her when she knew logicallly that Violet was so young. Sure dragons aged differently and she was already a ’adolescent’ but would she be taking advantage for her affection if she tried to turn their relationship into sothing... more?
These thought had been plaguing Luna for a little while now, ever since she first saw her humanoid form really. Before then it was easy to not think of Violet in that way, it was easy to just think of her as her trusted companion. But since then, since then it beca harder to not view her in a slightly different light. Not just as a regular companion because of a skill, but as a true companion, one she could truly love with all of her being.
Unbeknownst to Luna, Violet too was thinking about her companion, and whilst Luna had a fra of reference for what she was feeling Violet had no such knowledge. From her side she only knew that whilst she fully trusted and cared for her companion she had begun to have strange emotions regarding her. When she watch her be hurt in battle she not only felt the echo of her pain from the bond but she felt sothing within her hurt alongside.
When she looking at her and saw her smiling at her Violet’s stomachs would feel weird. In her humanoid form she found that she would feel blood rush to her face after seemingly innocuous gestures and words from her. Violet was truly perplexed about the whole situation. But regardless of anything else she know one simple thing, she cared for Luna, more than anything else and would do anything to keep her happy.
After all, isn’t that what it ans to be a companion? Well at least as far as Violet knew it was and she was determined to live up to that!
