(Two-in-one, two chapters updated together)

...

Dongdong never expected that the man in the suit she provoked at the Black Pearl Restaurant would really call his uncle to settle a personal vendetta.

Even more unexpected was how violent this Sheriff was, threatening to pull a gun and kill when intimidation failed.

Regardless of objective facts or procedural justice, it's not compliant for the Sheriff to arrest her, violating the public security regulations.

Let alone pulling a gun to kill; she and Su Mo did nothing, yet were slandered as having committed threatening acts, which is a serious violation.

But regulations are made by people and executed by people.

Deep in the ng Lake Wetland at night, it was deserted, with only the three of them around and no surveillance equipnt.

If he really killed them, the Sheriff could afterward claim he was conducting a routine inspection, suddenly saw the two reaching for their waists, suspected they were drawing weapons, and shot them in self-defense.

Anyway, dead n tell no tales, and the situation at the scene is all up to him. Whatever he says is what happened.

Moreover, if the dead are just two "dog tag wearers," there would be no public pressure, perhaps even a bunch of Inner City residents cheering, and with a few reports written, it would be over.

Dongdong gritted her teeth tightly, a deep sense of humiliation surged up, but had no outlet to explode, only able to glare at the Sheriff in frustration.

The Sheriff was satisfied with Dongdong's gaze, continuing to aim the gun at Su Mo, his voice full of threat: "You're lucky you don't have a criminal record. If you don't want to die, get lost quickly, don't play hero here."

Dongdong subconsciously glanced at Su Mo, pressing her lips tightly, with the quivering moonlight reflected in her eyes.

The Sheriff suddenly yanked Dongdong over: "Does looking at him work, huh? With a street punk like you, do you expect him to consider you a friend? You're just trash, understand? Utterly worthless trash."

At that mont, Dongdong felt a certain isolated corner of her heart being hit, burning with pain.

She asked herself, what was she expecting?

The Sheriff was right...

Friends?

What friends?

Everyone gathering together is just playing roles, laughing and joking when there's nothing, fleeing separately when sothing happens.

Isn't it because she's been betrayed so many tis that she swore in her heart never to trust anyone, to rely only on herself from now on?

That stick that struck heavily on her back, the bleeding wounds from crawling on the ground, and the places viciously kicked on her face... why does she keep getting emotionally involved?

Why should Su Mo consider her, a ubiquitous border punk, a friend?

Really, isn't it foolish?

Dark childhood mories rushed back, Dongdong's gaze darkened, she pulled the corner of her mouth into a self-deprecating smile, powerless, she stood there with her head dropped.

Dongdong's numbness beca nourishnt for the Sheriff's internal pleasure.

He finished cuffing Dongdong, dragging her towards the patrol car.

At this mont, Su Mo's voice suddenly ca: "Try touching her one more ti?"

The Sheriff froze in place, turning back to glare at Su Mo: "What the hell did you say?!"

"I said, ng Lake Wetland is indeed a nice place." Su Mo crouched down, fiddling with the damp soil with his hand, saying, "The ground here is very soft, very easy to dig a deep pit, bury soone, and not be found for a decade or more."

The Sheriff's face changed: "What do you an by that?"

Su Mo looked up, a strange smile appearing on his face: "What do you think? Look around, it's just the three of us here, no other witnesses, no surveillance."

"You ca alone, I bet you didn't tell your buddies about your whereabouts, right? After all, you weren't here on official business but to settle a personal score, who would be dumb enough to tell anyone about such a thing?"

"I bet you even disabled the patrol car's location system, because ng Lake Wetland isn't a secured patrol area, lingering too long outside work areas with a public vehicle earns punishnt."

"So here we are, no witnesses, no surveillance, no location tracking, no one knowing where you went, no one else in all of New Moon City knowing what happened here."

"You go missing here, and not even God could find you."

The Sheriff widened his eyes in rage, aiming the gun at Su Mo again: "You dare threaten ?!"

"Hiss——" Frenzied Corpse Rigid Bone extends from Su Mo's arms, converging into a massive claw, under the pale moonlight resembling a demon's hand.

The Sheriff's heart sank icy cold.

He never expected the other party to actually be a Blood Code Carrier!

His nephew clearly told him they were just two border punks...

Su Mo stepped forward, grabbing the Sheriff's gun, aiming it at his own forehead.

He calmly said: "Here, I'll stand and let you shoot. You can try it, see if your 9mm New Moon Shield pistol can penetrate the High Tier of Awakening Frenzied Corpse Rigid Bone."

"If you shoot through it, kudos to you; if not, then you're screwed, because you'll be chopped up and buried in the soil. When the Public Security Bureau finally digs you out years later, you'll already be a pile of bones."

The Sheriff glanced around subconsciously, indeed there was no one else, and Su Mo hit the nail on the head about his whereabouts and patrol car location.

Shrouded in pale moonlight, the ng Lake Wetland was like a natural grave.

Fear surfaced slightly in the Sheriff's eyes, yet he stubbornly said: "I'm a Sheriff! Dare kill , you'll be finished!"

Su Mo tilted his head, flicked the black tag hanging on his neck, his expression full of rebelliousness: "Doesn't matter to , I'm a border rogue, no parents, no soft spots."

"Kill you, I'll just escape back to the border, the Public Security Bureau might issue a wanted order, but would they dare cross the Rusty Wall to catch ?"
