In the core area of the Municipal Center, the "Heaven-Reaching Tower" stands tall and firm.
This structure is composed of three independent towers, each over a thousand ters high, spaced a hundred ters apart. Each floor is connected by corridors, together forming this colossal building.
As night falls, the city’s neon lights outline the Heaven-Reaching Tower even more strikingly. The towering structure’s surface reflects the flickering lights, like a galaxy ford by innurable stars.
Between the glass curtain walls, holograms continuously scroll, forming three sets of patterns on the three towers.
The double helix, symbolizing humanity’s supre mystery.
The bust of a robot with eyes glowing red.
A white dragon, opening its wings and furiously breathing.
The three patterns float at the city’s highest point, proclaiming humanity’s supre power and status.
This Heaven-Reaching Tower is the location of the branches of Hegemony Company, Iron Blood Alliance, and Black Domain Group in New Moon City.
The three giant corporations each occupy a tower, distantly separated yet closely connected, much like their relationships in this world.
They are hostile opponents, having forged countless blood feuds over a century, their hands stained with each other’s blood.
But one thing won’t change.
They are the rulers of the world, the supre human elite.
They may fight among themselves, causing rivers of blood.
But they will not allow any outsider to challenge the status of the human elite.
The masses can only look up at them, much like facing sacred beings not to be desecrated. Any act of defying authority will be t with thunderous strikes.
The three towers of Heaven-Reaching Tower each have 200 floors.
On the 199th floor of the Hesu Company Tower, in an office second to none, Zhao Yiming gazes at the night view of New Moon City.
The huge floor-to-ceiling windows reflect the myriad city lights, and neon-decorated streets stretch like a star river. In the distance, bridges, traffic, and various scenes of the bustling city shine brightly between the skyscrapers.
Zhao Yiming, dressed in an elegant suit with a double helix emblem, holds a glass of red wine. The dark red liquid, against the backdrop of lights, exudes a seductive glow.
The office sound system is clearly broadcasting voices, and if you listen carefully, you’ll find it’s the conversation between Su Mo and Master Wen and others in the top-floor private room of the White Diamond Hotel.
"Master Wen, the younger generation thanks you for your high regard. But as you said before, if one doesn’t understand gratitude and reciprocation, then I shouldn’t even be a rcenary, let alone a person."
"Young man, just don’t regret it."
Hearing Su Mo’s firm refusal of Master Wen, Zhao Yiming bursts into delighted laughter, musing to himself, "Old Wen, you’ve really aged, lost your usefulness, and even lost the discernnt you once had."
"If he backs down just because of a few words from you, without the courage to fight the entire world, how can he beco the King of rcenaries?"
At this point, Zhao Yiming shifts his focus, swirling the wine in his glass, continuing slowly, "But, young man, you should still heed the words of your elders."
"You are still very weak, just a fledgling, too weak to withstand any storm. If you rashly step outside the greenhouse, your feathers will get wet."
He raises his glass in a toast towards the distant silhouette of the Edge Mansion, the endless city lights illuminating the sinister smile in his eyes.
"You need an umbrella, one that suits you."
...
The eting at the White Diamond Hotel ends unpleasantly, and related news quickly spreads far and wide.
The result naturally surprises everyone.
No one expected Su Mo’s attitude to be so resolute, even disregarding the face of Master Wen, a giant in the industry, determined to stick to his path.
In an instant, many previous interdiaries who had worked closely started calling, with many explicitly stating their intention to sever ties with Edge.
At this mont, Su Mo is answering a call from Dress.
In the earpiece, Dress’s helpless laughter can be heard: "Old Su, this might be our last phone call."
"Previously, when you embarrassed at the building’s entrance, I didn’t take it to heart. A cherished companion should indeed be well protected, I understand."
"If you can get through this ordeal, you’ll be like a phoenix reborn, and even Old D will have to be your sidekick."
"But why did you offend Master Wen’s face? I really can’t figure it out."
"If you are seeking death, I really have no choice but to stay far away. I don’t want to get splattered with blood."
"Ah, thinking back to when we first t, how happy we were, both with bright futures, how did it co to this point..."
"Old Su, don’t bla for being heartless. In this bustling world, everyone is driven by profit. I still need to make a living as a rcenary, so I’ll have to say goodbye."
"Alright, no more words, that’s it. Let’s delete each other and not contact again."
Dress finishes speaking and abruptly hangs up the phone.
Su Mo puts down the phone, picks up the list in his hand, and silently crosses out Dress’s na.
At that mont, a text ssage arrives.
Audiana: [Are you free? Invite up for a drink]
Su Mo looks out the window to see Audiana standing at the entrance of the Edge Mansion.
She ca alone, without any bodyguards.
Su Mo hesitates for a mont and calls the front gate guard, "Let Lady Countess in and bring her to the bar on the 80th floor, private room Zero."
Su Mo sets up drinks and snacks in room Zero for the reception, and Audiana enters as well.
