"Boss..."
Gradually coming back to her senses, she looked up at ng Chi, who was sitting in the passenger seat, "What’s up?"
ng Chi slightly frowned and said worriedly, "It should be us asking you what’s up. You’ve been acting strange ever since you left the Zheng Family."
A slight surprise, then a pause, and Bi Xia smiled, "It’s nothing, just thinking about the future."
"The future?"
"Yeah," she responded softly, "Where we might end up going in the future."
Hearing Bi Xia’s words, ng Chi laughed and said with absolute certainty, "We might not know where we’ll end up, but we know for sure that you, we, are sticking together."
ng Chi’s words made Bi Xia gradually smile. She looked out the window, watching the passing cars and nearby shops. The light in her starry eyes gradually dimd, turning indifferent.
She was thinking not just about the future.
Just from Elder Zheng’s words, she clearly detected that there were other anings in his words.
"Old Ye might need a very strong backing..."
Pressing her lips together, she let out a light sigh. Bi Xia was quite certain that her grandfather wasn’t deceased or missing, just that they couldn’t find him. However, Elder Zheng was soone who could contact him.
Elder Zheng’s words gave Bi Xia a hypothesis. The reason her grandfather left might not have been because Xia Shi was pregnant before marriage, but because he truly encountered sothing serious and had to leave.
If that’s really the case, then what was the matter? Did her grandfather offend soone? Who exactly did he offend?
A series of questions popped into Bi Xia’s head, causing the furrow between her brows to remain fixed.
"Boss, we’re here."
Bi Xia returned to her senses and looked out at the place that was both familiar and unfamiliar to her. She slightly lowered her gaze, raised her hand to open the car door, and stepped out.
ng Chi observed the people standing at the doorway of the small houses, who were looking at them. The adults and children seed intrigued by their car, pointing and comnting. He glanced at Bi Xia, who was expressionless, and exchanged a look with Ye Xiao. Ye Xiao nodded at ng Chi, who then opened the car door and followed behind Bi Xia.
"Yo, isn’t this the second son’s kid from the Bi Family? I rember he wasn’t like this before. Why does he look more spirited now?"
"Listen to what you’re saying. He’s a high school student now. If he’s not more spirited, how will he get into college?"
"College? Are you joking? I’m telling you, his grandmother would never pay for him to go to college. His mom only earns a bit each month, plus he has a younger brother at ho."
"You guys don’t know, but a few months ago, I saw Bi Xia driving a sports car to pick up his mom and brother. And who would have guessed they caught the old lady and her eldest son’s family bullying his mom and brother? You wouldn’t believe it, but Bi Xia and his family left in the sports car, and Bi Wu’s family left in an ambulance."
Hearing the chatter, ng Chi slightly frowned, feeling that these neighbors were too gossipy, talking so openly about other people’s business. Moreover... he looked ahead at Bi Xia, wondering if the boss grew up in such an environnt?
Pausing for a mont, Bi Xia turned and looked at ng Chi. Seeing his expression, Bi Xia smiled faintly, "Do you find it strange, annoying, unbelievable?"
Before ng Chi could answer, Bi Xia’s starry eyes flashed with a dark light, and she said calmly, "Don’t mind them. They used to only ridicule , but now, ever since they saw co back once in a sports car, and probably saw on TV, they’ve naturally started to flatter while belittling the Bi family."
"I expected this kind of situation," Bi Xia said, with a sarcastic smile, "This is reality."
ng Chi opened his mouth, clearly trying to comprehend the ntality of these people. But then thinking of his own stepmother, who behaves one way in front of people and another behind their backs, he sowhat understood.
Perhaps, this is the so-called hypocrisy and the act of elevating the high while stepping on the low in the adult world.
