"Xiaxia?"
When Xia Shi returned, she was originally worried about how to get Bi Wu and his gang to leave the restaurant. But as soon as she reached the door, she found the restaurant bustling with life as usual. There was not a single empty table, and Bi Wu and his ragtag group were nowhere to be seen.
Looking at Bi Xia greeting the custors along with a few boys who often ate at the restaurant, Xia Shi noticed the bruised corner of Bi Xia’s lip. No matter how slow she was, Xia Shi could guess what had happened. She had tried to prevent this, but in the end, it had happened anyway.
At that mont, Xia Shi felt a mix of emotions. She was proud of her child’s bravery, yet sad that she still needed her child to protect her.
"Mom, you’re back."
Bi Xia’s voice brought Xia Shi back to reality. ng Chi, Chu Kuang, and the others who were helping out also stopped what they were doing and greeted her warmly, "Hi Auntie ~"
"Hi, hi. How are you all?" Xia Shi smiled warmly, her eyes curving as she looked at ng Chi and the others. "What brings you here?"
Chu Kuang shrugged helplessly and said familiarly, "I heard Auntie’s restaurant was really busy and needed help, so I brought my brothers to lend a hand. All we ask is a late-night snack once the work is done ~"
"Get out of here," ng Chi pushed Chu Kuang aside and adopted a good-boy deanor, saying to Xia Shi, "It’s like this, Auntie. We’re all classmates...cough, classmates of the class leader. That guy Chu Kuang is the class leader of Class B. We’re all pretty close. We already liked the food here, and when we found out it was the class leader’s mom who runs the place, we decided to co and help since it’s so busy."
Chu Kuang couldn’t help but gape at ng Chi’s shaless fabrication. They did like the food here, but did he have to make up such a face-saving lie about why they were helping?
Xia Shi chuckled, shaking her head. These kids really thought they could fool her? They kept sneaking glances at her, afraid she would discover sothing.
Alright, she’d pretend not to know.
Smiling, Xia Shi nodded, "Thank you all so much. Xiaxia’s really not very considerate."
"No, no, no, no!" ng Chi, Chu Kuang, and the others quickly shook their heads frantically. Auntie, did you know your son is giving us that deathly glare from behind you? It’s not that we’re scared, it’s just that His Majesty’s imposing aura is too strong. Not helping out feels like a death sentence!
"Thank you for your hard work then. I’ll take Yuanyuan inside first, and I’ll be right out to help." Xia Shi said, holding Bi Xiaoyuan’s hand.
Seeing the amateurish acting skills of these helpers, Bi Xia couldn’t help but gnash her teeth in frustration. Pig teammates! Her mom might look innocent and easy to bully, but she’s sharp in many ways. When it ca to anything involving her children, she was exceptionally astute...
"Mom, hurry up. Sister Xiao Li is almost overwheld, and many tables have been waiting impatiently." Bi Xia shot a glare at the group, then turned to Xia Shi with a sweet deanor. Without waiting for a response, she pulled Xia Shi towards the kitchen.
Chu Kuang watched the drastic change in Bi Xia’s attitude and couldn’t help but click his tongue and say to ng Chi, "Aiai, now we can see who the real family is. We put in effort too, didn’t we?"
ng Chi glanced at Chu Kuang, "You’re wrong. Apart from you, everyone else is family."

She said, and left the kitchen, leaving Xia Shi standing there, hands on hips, shaking her head in exasperation, "This troubleso kid!"
"Mama..." The Little Bun, who had been silently watching, gently tugged on his mother’s clothes, kindly advising, "Brother said everything’s fine, so it’s definitely fine..."
