Sophia Shaw’s voice was soft, but its impact was dozens of tis heavier than a bomb.

It sent shockwaves through the conference hall, leaving everyone reeling.

"What?"

"Cancel it!"

"The project has been underway for so long. Isn’t canceling it now a death sentence?"

"This is absurd."

"Absolutely absurd!"

The heads of the companies who needed their satellites launched were on the verge of tears.

If the project was canceled, they would have to hire another company for the launch, and the cost would quadruple instantly!

And that wasn’t even counting the satellite transportation fees.

Transporting these little things wasn’t cheap; every kiloter cost tens of thousands. So satellites could only be launched overseas, and the cost for that was unimaginable!

Professor Lane and the panel of experts never expected Sophia Shaw to say such a thing, and they all turned to look at her.

After looking at her, they turned to Levin Sawyer.

’No matter how much Levin Sawyer dotes on Sophia Shaw, he would never allow her to do sothing like this!’

TAP.

TAP.

TAP.

"Seconded."

Levin Sawyer tapped the table to show his stance.

’Ah, Sophia. She lies low, but when she makes a move, it’s a showstopper.’

’This move... It’s brilliant, vicious, and ruthless!’

’It’s just too damn satisfying.’

’Since Joanna Sherman was so greedy for the project lead position, she now ends up with nothing—not even a supporting role!’

"W-What did he say? Seconded?"

The experts nearly fainted.

The company heads clutched their heads, all on the verge of a breakdown.

Joanna Sherman looked at Levin Sawyer in disbelief. "President Sawyer, do you have any idea what you’re doing?"

"Even if you’re trying to win Miss Shaw’s favor, this isn’t the way to do it."

’That insidious, venomous mouth of Joanna Sherman’s!’

Levin Sawyer saw right through her petty scheming.

’On the surface, she’s advising , but in reality, every word is an insinuation that Sophia is cheating with !’

He disliked Vincent Grant and would have been thrilled if Sophia cuckolded him completely.

But he just didn’t want to let Joanna Sherman have her way.

He chuckled languidly and said with a careless air, "If I’m not trying to please Faye, am I supposed to be trying to please you?"

"Lead Aerospace is, after all, the first company in Cathan to independently develop and successfully launch its own rocket. Why in the world should we step aside for you?"

"Because of your half-baked skills that require you to bring in outside help just to build a rocket?"

Levin Sawyer tilted his head, a smirk playing on his lips as he looked at her.

’That look in his eyes was like he was staring at a pig!’

Joanna Sherman’s face turned green, then pale, then sallow.

Her nails dug into her palms so hard they nearly broke the skin.

Her face was twisted in an ugly grimace.

’Is he spewing shit from his mouth?’

’So humiliating!’

"Let’s go."

Sophia Shaw didn’t want to say another word and turned to leave.

"You got it." Levin Sawyer grabbed his jacket from the back of the chair, picking up Sophia Shaw’s bag as well. The two of them headed out together.

"Please wait, you two! Wait!"

With things having reached this point, the representatives were frantic.

They kept blocking their path, trying to persuade them to co back.

But Sophia Shaw’s mind was made up; she wouldn’t stay a mont longer.

Just as they were about to disappear,

Vincent Grant’s voice ca from behind. "Sophia Shaw, have you thought this through? Are you really prepared to pay the price for your impulsiveness?"

"The contract for this project has already been signed. If it’s canceled, the company will have to pay out tens of billions!"

Tens of billions was no small sum.

"That’s hilarious. Do you think Lead Aerospace is short on tens of billions?" Levin Sawyer didn’t even bat an eyelid, his wealthy young master persona on full display.

Sophia Shaw stopped and slowly turned back. "In that case, the project can continue. Lead Aerospace will withdraw."

Everyone: "..."

’Everyone was here to fleece Lead Aerospace.’

’If Lead Aerospace pulls out, what the hell is there left to fleece!’

Levin Sawyer snapped his fingers, his gaze stabbing provocatively at Vincent Grant. "Zenith has such a talented and extraordinary Chief Engineer Sherman. I’m sure she can lead everyone to a glorious future!"

"She loves to snatch things, so we’ll let her have it all—whether it’s a man or the position of project lead!"

The two of them walked out, one after the other.

Their swagger was off the charts.

They left a room full of experts staring at each other in bewildernt.

Their minds were filled with questions:

’What on earth did we do wrong?’

’Where do these people get such nerve?’

’What is wrong with young people these days?’

Joanna Sherman had been thoroughly humiliated by Levin Sawyer, only to then be played like this by Sophia Shaw. She was so furious every organ in her body seed to ache.

Watching Sophia Shaw and Levin Sawyer get into their car and drive away through the window, what she wanted most was to drag Sophia out and tear her to shreds!

’That useless woman actually pulled a stunt like that on !’

She was seething with hatred, but Joanna Sherman still had so sense left.

A mont later, she elegantly patted the handbag hooked on her arm. "Since we can’t reach an agreent on this matter, let’s just leave it at that."

A posture of complete indifference, as if she couldn’t care less.

As Sophia Shaw got into the car, she saw Joanna Sherman striding out, handbag hooked on her arm, with a brisk and confident gait.

Just like when she arrived, her curly hair bounced, and she looked stylish and self-assured.

Levin Sawyer saw her too and sneered, "I’ve really got to admire this woman. She’s about to explode on the inside, but she can still put on an act."

"Who is she even putting on a show for?"

Sophia Shaw only glanced at Joanna Sherman once before lowering her eyes.

’No need to waste too much ti on soone so insignificant.’

But she still answered Levin Sawyer’s question: "She’s putting on a show for Vincent Grant, of course."

To let Vincent Grant see that she’s as aloof as a chrysanthemum—noble, pure, and completely above such squabbles.

’After all, Vincent Grant has always fallen for that act, hasn’t he?’

Now, looking at the two of them, Sophia felt like she was watching strangers, her heart as calm as still water.

"You actually guessed right."

Levin Sawyer waved his phone, where Vincent Grant’s number was displayed on the screen.

Levin Sawyer had long been fed up with that scumbag Vincent Grant.

He answered the call and, after listening for only a mont, said, "This matter is entirely up to my Faye to decide. Wasting your breath on is useless, President Grant."

He deliberately used the phrase "my Faye," not worried at all that it might anger Vincent Grant to death.

’Doesn’t he claim to not care about Faye?’

’Doesn’t he treat her like dirt?’

’Well, let him learn that the person he doesn’t care about is cherished by soone else!’

No matter what Vincent Grant said on the other end, Levin Sawyer just kept repeating, "I only listen to my Faye. Whatever she says, goes. Sorry, but Faye is my goddess, the bright moon in the sky, a pearl on the earth."

"To be honest, if I were to get married and have a child in the future, I’d rather let my own wife, who’s in agony from childbirth, fend for herself than ever let Sophia, who adopted her child, feel even a mont of distress."

"I’d rather not take care of my own wife during her postpartum confinent just so I could stay by the side of Sophia, who is taking care of her child, 24/7."

"I’d rather my own child ignore his biological mother, not caring if she lives or dies, as long as he worships and loves Faye."

"Even if my own child were being beaten to death by a maniac and my wife called a thousand tis, I wouldn’t care. I’d only be worried that Faye’s child scraped their forehead!"

Vincent Grant: "..."

Levin Sawyer’s words grew more and more chaotic and completely unhinged. Vincent couldn’t listen anymore.

He hung up the phone.

Levin Sawyer scoffed, "Tch."

"Yeah, I’m talking about you! What’s with the act!"

He had wanted to grab Vincent and say these things to his face since the first day he ca back. He had only suppressed his anger because Sophia Shaw said she wanted a divorce and didn’t want any more trouble.

’Now that bastard Grant is shalessly using Faye to please his goddess? In his dreams!’

Sophia Shaw listened quietly to Levin Sawyer’s tirade.

Even though these events had happened several months ago, they were still deeply etched in her mind.

As if it were only yesterday.

Her repeated monts of pain and helplessness, Bun’s repeated brushes with danger—they had long since ford a thick scar over her heart.

The slightest touch would make it ache with heart-wrenching pain.

After arriving at the company, Sophia Shaw quickly imrsed herself in her work...

It wasn’t until Levin Sawyer tapped on her desk that Sophia Shaw finally looked up.

Outside, as expected, the city was a sea of lights.

She glanced down at her computer. "It’s already eight o’clock?"

Usually, Jacobs would be rushing her in all sorts of ways as soon as it hit six.

’He didn’t co today?’

Levin Sawyer leaned against her desk. "I’m the one who told Jacobs not to disturb you."

Sophia Shaw’s brow furrowed slightly.

’He must have noticed that I was in a bad mood when I ca back.’

’He knew I could forget everything by imrsing myself in work, so he thoughtfully told Jacobs not to bother .’

"Levin, you’re too good to ," she said sincerely.

"I should have agreed when my godmother tried to set us up back then."

"If I had actually married you back then, who knows how happy I’d be right now."

Levin Sawyer reached across the desk and patted the top of her head. "Not bad. Making progress. You can even joke around with now."

Sophia Shaw only said it because she knew Levin Sawyer wouldn’t take it seriously.

She let out a mischievous chuckle.

When she smiled, a touch of charming coyness appeared in her eyes.

It was like a glimr of spring—graceful and gentle.

Levin Sawyer’s lowered gaze wavered slightly, a strange emotion flashing in his eyes.

"Actually, back then, it wasn’t my mom who wanted to set us up. It was..."
