Joanna Sherman’s nerves jumped. She imdiately recognized the owner of the eyes. "Vin... Vincent?"
The door was... was slowly pushed open.
Vincent Grant still had a key in his hand.
She had locked the door, afraid soone would see.
Joanna Sherman never imagined Vincent Grant would get a key from soone and spy on her through the crack in the door!
’He... how much did he see?’
Joanna Sherman’s mind went completely blank, as if a bomb had gone off in her head.
She instinctively grabbed his hand. "Don’t misunderstand. I was just..."
Vincent Grant held out his phone. "Soone fild this from across the way."
Confused, Joanna Sherman instinctively took it.
On the phone, a woman with long, wavy hair was forcing a child’s head into a bucket of water, letting the water subrge the child completely.
A mont later, she pulled the child up.
Then forced the child down again...
Over and over!
’It’s the video of drowning Stella Grant!’
’Soone fild it!’
CLACK!
The phone slipped from her hand. Joanna Sherman looked at Vincent Grant, her face deathly pale.
She hadn’t felt it when she was doing it, but seeing it from soone else’s perspective, she realized she looked like a complete madwoman!
"Vincent, let explain! My hand slipped... I was trying to pull Stella up."
Joanna Sherman’s words were a jumbled ss, her voice trembling violently.
"You know I’ve never been good at this sort of thing, and the nanny wasn’t here."
Vincent Grant watched her with a heavy gaze.
After hearing what Sophia Shaw had said, he’d had soone look into it.
He never thought an investigation would actually turn sothing up!
Listening to Joanna Sherman’s pathetic excuses, he reminded her coldly, "You were using cold water. Just because the nanny isn’t here, does that an you can’t even tell the difference between hot and cold?"
Joanna Sherman: "..."
Vincent Grant was all too familiar with the baby bathroom in Joanna Sherman’s house. He could tell from the direction she turned the faucet that she was using cold water on the child.
"How could you be so cruel to your own child?"
Vincent Grant asked, the light in his eyes dying out bit by bit.
Filled with disappointnt!
Joanna Sherman never dread this scene would be fild, much less found by Vincent Grant. She was scared, frantic, and humiliated, and her vision started to go black.
’I wish I could just faint and not have to face this unbearable mont!’
’But I can’t faint.’
’If I faint, I’ll never have a chance to turn this around!’
’My life, Joanna Sherman’s life, shouldn’t stop here!’
Joanna Sherman suddenly clenched her fists and yelled at Vincent Grant, "Yes, I can’t tell the difference between hot and cold water!"
"Vincent Grant, when we adopted the child, you promised you would help , but now you’ve left to face her all by myself!"
"I loved my career so much, but you kicked out of the inner circle for Sophia Shaw’s sake, vetoed all my hard work, and even revoked my access to headquarters!"
"What do you want from ? To pretend like nothing happened, stay calm, and carry on as usual?"
"I can’t do it! I can’t!"
"I don’t even know what I was doing! All I know is that my whole world has collapsed! I’m going crazy!"
"Vincent Grant, you’re the one who’s irresponsible, so why are you blaming ?"
Joanna Sherman covered her face and crouched down, sobbing.
Vincent Grant looked down at the top of her shaking head, his thoughts unreadable.
After a long mont, he slowly walked over to Stella Grant and picked her up.
He took a deep breath and said, "You’re not fit to take care of a child right now. I’ll find soone else to look after her."
「For the next while」 Sophia Shaw was busy with the satellite launch at Zenith.
Without Joanna Sherman causing trouble, everything went very smoothly.
Levin Sawyer ca to see Sophia Shaw on ti every day. They were business partners, but more than that, they were a perfectly synchronized team.
Even though Sophia Shaw was his superior in terms of technical expertise, she often asked for his opinion.
Levin Sawyer’s judgnt and depth of insight were stronger than hers.
"I have to say, Zenith’s engineers are quite impressive. Their skills are on par with those at Lead Aerospace."
Seeing the project progress so quickly, Levin Sawyer couldn’t help but be impressed.
Although he had all sorts of complaints about Vincent Grant, he had to admit the man’s eye for talent was impeccable.
"It’s a sha all this talent was wasted under Joanna Sherman."
Sophia Shaw felt the sa way.
Before joining, she thought the people at Zenith would be diocre and had even considered transferring engineers from Lead Aerospace to help out.
It was only after joining the project team that she realized she had worried for nothing.
"Well, like they say, an incompetent leader creates an incompetent team. I have no idea what that Vincent Grant was thinking!"
Sophia Shaw just smiled.
Vincent Grant’s sole purpose was to prop up Joanna Sherman, so naturally, he wouldn’t have cared about her incompetence.
"By the way, I heard Vincent Grant took Stella Grant back to his own ho, while his beloved ’goddess’ has been traveling everywhere to ’clear her head.’"
It wasn’t that Levin Sawyer was intentionally paying attention to Joanna Sherman; it was just that she kept posting things about traveling alone and ’reflecting,’ her passive-aggressive captions filled with words of repentance.
Given Joanna Sherman’s personality, after being kicked out in such a humiliating way, she should have been posting about how wronged she was.
Levin Sawyer shared his confusion with Sophia Shaw.
Sophia Shaw remained silent, but the beauty mark under her eye seed to dance mischievously.
’That day, I intentionally let Vincent Grant overhear what Ms. Archer said. It seems he really did find sothing out.’
’Now that her malicious true colors have been exposed, her perfect image in Vincent Grant’s mind must have crumbled.’
’Joanna Sherman’s repentance is probably ant for Vincent Grant’s eyes only.’
"Oh, right. Bun has been acting strangely lately. She keeps crawling around in the middle of the night, calling for ’Daddy.’ She keeps looking for him, and even I can’t console her."
Sophia Shaw suddenly rembered this, her expression filled with confusion.
"She’s never been like this before."
When Levin Sawyer heard this, the corners of his lips couldn’t help but lift into a smile.
’What a good girl. My doting hasn’t been in vain.’
But his expression remained impassive. "Does this an the little one is growing up and needs a father?"
Sophia Shaw didn’t think too deeply about it, assuming Levin Sawyer was just joking.
Levin Sawyer didn’t dare push too hard, either. He just said, "If it’s really a problem, how about I look after her for a few nights and see?"
"That’s out of the question." How could Sophia Shaw ask Levin Sawyer to babysit for her?
"Why not? We’ll be getting married sooner or later anyway. If I learn how to take care of a child now, I won’t be completely clueless in the future."
Sophia Shaw thought it made sense, so she nodded. "Alright, then. I’ll have Ms. Archer go with you. She can lend a hand if anything cos up."
"Deal!"
’Even if I can’t take a wife and daughter ho right away, being an official dad-in-training is pretty good too.’
After talking with Levin Sawyer, Sophia Shaw organized another eting.
Vincent Grant was in attendance.
However, he didn’t offer any opinions throughout the entire eting, entrusting the project entirely to her.
Vincent Grant hadn’t been coming to Zenith much lately, but he always showed up on ti for every eting.
He would leave imdiately after each eting without disturbing Sophia Shaw.
However, he left Timothy Morgan behind to fully cooperate with her work, giving her whatever money or personnel she needed.
And Timothy Morgan had been transferred from the marketing departnt to Vincent Grant’s side, serving as a key assistant with a rank even higher than Joel Hale’s.
"I never thought I’d get my big break because of you and land the position of presidential assistant." After finishing their work discussion, Timothy Morgan couldn’t help but sigh with emotion.
"I never would have dared to dream of it before!"
Sophia Shaw gently squeezed her hand. "I was the one who held you back before."
If Timothy Morgan hadn’t always been helping her, which gave the higher-ups a bad impression, she wouldn’t have been stuck in her old position for so long.
If Timothy Morgan hadn’t been promoted, Sophia Shaw had been planning to invite her to join Lead Aerospace.
"What are you talking about?" Timothy Morgan disagreed. "You’re so talented. It would have been a cri for , as your superior, not to help you!"
"It’s just a sha that back then, President Grant..."
Timothy Morgan trailed off.
Sophia Shaw naturally understood.
’If Vincent Grant hadn’t made things difficult for at every turn, I wouldn’t have remained a level-one employee for five years.’
"But I can tell President Grant values you highly now. The only reason he transferred here is that he knows you don’t like dealing with Joel Hale and was afraid you’d be uncomfortable."
"When President Grant cares about soone, he really cares."
"And when he doesn’t care, he’s truly ruthless," Sophia Shaw added.
Her tone was light, as was the look in her eyes.
