"Do you think Levin Sawyer and Old Master Sloan are that stupid? That they’d do sothing against their own interests just because soone whispered a few words in their ear?"
Joanna Sherman crossed her arms, lecturing her sister. "Sharon Sherman, think before you speak from now on!"
Sharon Sherman pouted, displeased.
Joanna Sherman took out a card and handed it to her. "Go buy yourself so new clothes."
Only then did Sharon Sherman cheer up again. "Thanks, sis!"
"Sis, don’t worry. I’m handling the thing our aunt asked to do perfectly."
"I’ve already told Justin Hughes about Sophia Shaw being a lowly assistant at Lead Aerospace, and I definitely embellished it! Justin is so close to Vincent. He gives him daily reports on all the trashy things Sophia is doing. Sooner or later, Vincent will divorce Sophia!"
"What did my mom tell you?" Joanna Sherman shot a warning glare at Sharon Sherman.
Sharon Sherman quickly covered her mouth. "Auntie didn’t teach anything! I just thought Sophia Shaw was shaless, so I told Justin Hughes myself!"
Only then did Joanna Sherman look away, but the furrow in her brow wouldn’t relax.
After Sharon Sherman left, Joanna Sherman returned to Vincent Grant’s side.
"Vincent, that female student Old Master Sloan ntioned... can you find any information on her?"
"I want to know how big the gap is between us, so I can have a clear target to aim for."
Vincent Grant shook his head. "Her information is sealed tight. Not a single shred of it has been revealed."
"Vincent, it’s rare for Joanna to ask you for anything. Why don’t you ask your dad or your grandpa to help?" Justin Hughes said, sounding more anxious than Joanna Sherman herself.
"Justin Hughes, shut up!" Joanna Sherman snapped.
Sophia Shaw, on her way to the lecture, happened to be passing by.
She unintentionally overheard their conversation and felt a little awkward.
’But even if I explained, they wouldn’t believe ,’ she thought. So she just held her head high and walked past.
And just as she expected, she received a glare from Justin Hughes, as if he were looking at a thief.
Sophia Shaw found it laughable.
’I wonder what Justin Hughes would think if he knew the person he’s treating like a thief is the very person they’re looking for.’
For Joanna Sherman’s sake, that man not only waited on her hand and foot but even had the gall to urge Vincent Grant to do sothing against his principles.
The Grants’ status was incredibly sensitive. Asking Vincent Grant to pry for information within the Grant Family—was he trying to bring them down after they’d prospered for so long?
Sophia Shaw was in a hurry to get to Old Master Sloan’s lecture, so she walked quickly.
Just as she passed, soone darted out from the side, rushing straight for the main hall.
He looked at Young Master Croft and yelled, "I found her! I found her! The genius girl, an absolute genius girl!"
The middle-aged man waved a piece of paper in his hand. "Son, find the girl who solved this problem. Sign a contract with her, no matter the cost!"
Young Master Croft took the paper and glanced at the cryptic symbols that looked like sothing from another world. "Dad, don’t worry. I’ve already found her for you."
"The genius girl you’re talking about is Joanna Sherman, the pioneer of Cathan’s rocket launches!"
’Besides Joanna Sherman, there’s absolutely no one else who could solve a problem this difficult.’
"The pioneer of rocket launches?" The middle-aged man’s eyes shifted. "No wonder. A problem that stumped so many top professors, and a young girl like her was able to solve it."
"Not only is Miss Sherman a top-tier talent, but she is also a person of high moral character." Young Master Croft’s eyes filled with admiration as he spoke of Joanna Sherman.
The middle-aged man recalled her carefully. "The girl seed gentle and sweet. A child like that couldn’t have a bad character."
"We absolutely must sign a contract with Lead Aerospace as soon as possible!" the middle-aged man declared, making his final decision.
Young Master Croft shook his head frantically. "Dad, not Lead Aerospace! Miss Sherman is at Grant Interstellar!"
"She went to Grant Interstellar?"
As far as he knew, Lead Aerospace was the only private company in Cathan that had successfully launched a rocket.
"Lead Aerospace is all hype; the people there have terrible character! Miss Sherman has high integrity, so of course she’d choose Grant Interstellar!"
Young Master Croft looked disgusted at the re ntion of Lead Aerospace.
Especially that assistant they hired. One mont she’s shalessly flirting with their boss, Levin Sawyer, and the next she’s running off to seduce Vincent Grant!
Young Master Croft had walked in just as Levin Sawyer was defending Sophia Shaw, and he was thoroughly displeased when Levin Sawyer forced soone to apologize and bark like a dog for her sake.
Later, she and Vincent Grant ran into each other in the buffet area, and from Young Master Croft’s perspective, it looked like Sophia Shaw was the one pestering Vincent Grant for a conversation.
An assistant two-timing the bosses of two rival companies? Young Master Croft felt that Levin Sawyer was harboring a ticking ti bomb.
Besides, he wouldn’t deign to associate with a woman who was trying to steal Joanna Sherman’s man!
"Dad, just leave this to . I guarantee I’ll handle it perfectly!"
Young Master Croft was brimming with confidence.
"Alright, I’ll leave it to you." All he wanted was the genius girl who could solve the problem; which company she worked for wasn’t important.
The man clapped Young Master Croft heavily on the shoulder, extrely pleased.
"I have an important eting, so I’ll be going."
The man stepped out, and soone imdiately ca to greet him.
"Chief! The Red Team has initiated Project Blue Sky."
"What’s there to be afraid of!" The man stepped into the car, his robust fra causing the vehicle to dip slightly. "We’ve found the most formidable ally! That bastard Zhang won’t even think about beating !"
The mont thunderous applause erupted, Sophia Shaw’s heart leaped into her throat.
Realizing she was about to see the teacher she respected most, her palms grew sweaty with nerves.
Yet, she was incredibly excited.
Worried that the teacher’s mood might be affected if he saw her, Sophia Shaw deliberately chose a seat in the back row.
She did her best to hide in the crowd.
’Even if I can’t speak to him face-to-face, it’s still good just to hear his lecture,’ she thought.
"Ladies and gentlen."
Fluent English drifted from the distance. Sophia Shaw could only see a silhouette under the spotlight.
Fortunately, there were many screens set up at the venue.
A mont later, a magnified image of Old Master Sloan appeared on the screens.
Sophia Shaw stared intently at the person on the screen, her eyes uncontrollably turning red.
Her teacher’s strict lessons from the past felt like they had happened just yesterday.
He had told her more than once that she was the most audacious student he’d ever had, yet every ti she infuriated him until he was fuming, he would still teach her with the sa patience as before.
The lecture was as brilliant as ever.
By the ti Sophia Shaw snapped back to reality, Old Master Sloan was striding over, accompanied by Levin Sawyer and Seraphina Vaughn.
A lump ford in her throat. Sophia Shaw stood up. "Teacher."
Old Master Sloan only glanced in her direction without stopping.
Sophia Shaw’s shoulders slumped in disappointnt.
’I’ve really hurt him deeply.’
"Sophia Shaw."
When Levin Sawyer returned, he saw Sophia Shaw still standing in the sa spot.
Everyone else had already left. In the enormous space, she stood alone, looking lonely and sad.
"Don’t be sad." Levin Sawyer gently patted her shoulder. "The teacher still cares a lot about you. This is the task he just gave us."
Sophia Shaw took the booklet from Levin Sawyer’s hand, treating it like a precious treasure.
"I’ll go back and start the task right now!"
Levin Sawyer pulled her back. "No matter how urgent it is, you need to eat to have strength. Co on, I’ll take you to a newly opened restaurant."
Levin Sawyer had helped her so much, so Sophia Shaw couldn’t bring herself to refuse his invitation. "Senior, let treat you."
"As you wish."
The two of them walked out, chatting about the task.
They looked up and saw Cedric Grant running at full speed, pushing a cart.
He was in such a hurry that he didn’t recognize Sophia Shaw at all as he passed them, darting right in front of the pair.
"Little..."
Levin Sawyer was about to call out, but he saw Cedric Grant stop in front of Joanna Sherman and Vincent Grant, who had also just walked out.
He imdiately presented a small gift box to Joanna Sherman. "Auntie Joanna, this is a gift for you."
