When Finch realized Taru was running toward the stone houses, he tried to stop him—but it was already too late.

"Whose cub is that little nine-tailed fox?" Taru demanded sharply. "How could the precious bloodline of our Nine-Tailed Fox clan be left to wander in this barren, savage wasteland?"

Finch felt a flicker of panic. He hadn’t expected his father to notice Didi so quickly. He should have taken the cubs farther away.

"...He’s mine."

Finch knew that regardless of whose cub it was, his father would never allow a nine-tailed fox’s bloodline to remain outside the clan. It was better to admit the truth—there might still be a chance to keep the cub here.

"Really?" taru’s face lit up with delight. "So he’s my grandson?"

"Yes," Finch replied, frowning slightly. "But don’t get any ideas. Nina would never agree to you taking Didi away."

"His na is Didi?" Taru said, unfazed. "The na’s a bit casual—but it’ll do."

What truly mattered was that he already had a grandson. "And that Nina you ntioned—is she the cub’s mother?"

"Yes," Finch said. "She’s their mother. We’re doing well here. We like living here. Please don’t disturb us."

Only then did Taru understand.

So that was why his foolish son refused to return—he already had a female he cared about.

Taru studied Finch’s forehead carefully. If he already had a cub, why was there no mating mark?

His expression darkened. "Why haven’t you bonded with her yet? Don’t tell you’re only her guardian beast."

"I... I’m not," Finch said, lowering his head in embarrassnt.

Taru’s face grew even darker. "You’re not even her guardian beast? Don’t tell you’re living here as her lover without status! Are you trying to sha the entire Nine-Tailed Fox clan?"

A lover was a male who followed a female without any formal position. At least a guardian beast had half a title—but a lover had none at all, no standing in the household.

The fox clan had always been admired for their beauty. Females usually welcod them eagerly.

Yet his son hadn’t even secured the position of guardian beast.

What disgrace!

Taru couldn’t help wondering.

My son isn’t bad-looking. His strength far surpasses that of most males. How could that female not want him? Are her standards really that high?

The fox clan males nearby were equally stunned. Their young lord had been extrely popular in Jade Fox City—countless females had pursued him.

And yet here... he wasn’t even accepted?

"It’s not what you think," Finch said quickly. "I’m still pursuing Nina."

In truth, he wished he could even beco her lover—but he hadn’t managed that either. He hadn’t even held her hand yet.

Thinking about it made him feel even more miserable.

"You’re utterly useless," Taru said bluntly. "You can’t even win over a single female."

He waved his hand dismissively.

"I’ll speak to her myself. Once she learns your identity, she certainly won’t reject you."

Taru believed no female would refuse a male with both power and background.

"And I’ll invite her and the cub to move to Jade Fox City," he continued. "You can live comfortably in the city instead of this poor wasteland."

He hadn’t even t the female yet—but since his son cared about her enough to follow her without status, he was willing to overlook her origins.

Originally, he had planned to arrange a noble bride of perfect status for Finch.

But things had changed.

"Don’t say anything reckless to Nina," Finch said urgently, frowning. "Our matters are ours to handle. Don’t interfere."

If his father scared Nina away, who would he cry to then?

"You handle it yourselves?" Taru scoffed. "You haven’t even beco her guardian beast, and you still want to handle it yourself?"

He shook his head in exasperation. "I’ll go speak to her."

For the first ti in his life, he truly felt his son was hopelessly foolish.

Ignoring Finch’s attempts to stop him, Taru strode straight toward the stone houses.

Standing at the entrance, Taru called out, "Which one of you is his female?"

He scanned the courtyard. All he saw were males... and two cubs.

Then his eyes widened in astonishnt.

A dragon cub, a snake cub, and now a nine-tailed fox cub.

These were all incredibly rare bloodlines.

Such species struggled greatly to reproduce. Taru himself had only managed to father a single cub—Finch—after so many years.

Yet this small, simple tribe had produced so many rare cubs.

It was unbelievable. "Father, stop ddling. Let’s go!" Finch tried to drag him away.

"Go? Why would I leave?" Taru said indignantly. "I haven’t even held my grandson yet!"

He searched eagerly for the little fox. Where had his grandson gone?

At that mont, inside the house, Didi was chasing Yinny around in playful circles while Nina braided Mimi’s beautiful soft hair.

In the middle of the chase, Didi ran straight out of the house.

Taru’s eyes lit up instantly.

My grandson!

He hurried over and crouched down, spreading his arms warmly.

"Co here, Didi. I’m your grandfather. Let Grandpa hold you."

Didi skidded to a sudden halt when he saw the unfamiliar beastman in front of him.

Startled, he backed up a few steps—then turned and ran back inside.

He dove into Nina’s arms.

"Mother! There’s a strange old man outside!"

In truth, Taru didn’t look old at all—but since he had called himself "grandfather," that’s what Didi assud.

Nina looked puzzled. "A strange old man?"

She carried the cubs outside and quickly spotted Taru.

"Is this the ’strange old man’ you ant?" she asked Didi.

Yinny and Mimi blinked curiously at him. Linny and Momo also flew over when they saw Nina co out, settling on her shoulders and nuzzling her affectionately.

Strange old man?

Taru almost choked. He was the cub’s actual grandfather!

Then his gaze shifted to Nina—and he froze in stunned admiration.

So this was Didi’s mother.

She was extraordinarily beautiful.

No wonder his foolish son had fallen for her.

But when he looked at the cubs in her arms, his pupils trembled.

A white tiger. A rmaid.

And the rmaid cub was even a female—an incredibly rare treasure among rfolk.

And why were all these cubs so attached to the sa female?

"Are you Didi’s mother?" Taru asked.

"I am," Nina replied with a polite smile. "And you are?"

"I’m Finch’s father—Didi’s grandfather."

"Nice to et you," Nina said. "Yes, I’m Didi’s mother."

So this was Finch’s father.

"I ca today to discuss Finch and Didi," Taru said bluntly. "I’d like to bring you both to Jade Fox City. And I hope you and Finch will bond soon."

His tone grew stern. "You can’t let him stay by your side without status."

Nina’s brows drew together slightly. "I have no intention of going to Jade Fox City. As for Finch—"

Before she could finish, Finch hurried forward. "Father, stop talking. This is between Nina and ."

Taru pushed him aside. Hearing Nina refuse Jade Fox City, his attitude hardened.

"You must co. The bloodline of the Nine-Tailed Fox clan cannot remain outside."

He gestured toward Finch. "You may not know his identity. He’s the Young City Lord of Jade Fox City—its future ruler."

"And?" Nina replied coolly. "I can live wherever I want. It’s not for outsiders to decide."

Taru’s tone had irritated her, and her expression turned cold.

"Exactly," a voice said from nearby. "If Nina wishes to stay here, then here she stays. The City Lord of Jade Fox City seems to be overstepping his authority."

Kith stepped forward.

Taru looked startled. "The City Lord of White Tiger City? What are you doing here?"

Then he rembered—Kith had co earlier to help Finch search for the Spirit Pearl.

"I appreciate your help regarding the Spirit Pearl," Taru said. "But this matter does not concern you."

"Nina is my female," Kith replied calmly. "Naturally, I stand behind her."

He secretly glanced at Nina. When she didn’t refute him, joy flickered across his eyes.

"She’s your female?" Taru exclaid. His gaze shifted to the white tiger cub. "Then that little white tiger is your cub?"

"Yes," Kith said softly. "Yinny is Nina’s and my cub."

"What... how is that possible?" Taru was completely stunned.

The two cubs looked about the sa age. How could a single female have two cubs born around the sa ti?

"And there are more," Kith added calmly, delivering another shock. "The others are Nina’s cubs as well. I doubt you have the ability to take them away."

"What?!"

Taru stood frozen, utterly dumbfounded.
