Nina’s attention snapped instantly to the egg. Her eyes lit up with joy.

"The baby’s about to hatch!"

The courage Yanai had just gathered dissolved in an instant. At a mont like this... how could he possibly say it now?

He knew better than anyone—nothing mattered more to Nina than her children.

If he spoke now, not only would it be the wrong timing... he might even lose his reward altogether.

"Nina... can I claim my reward later?" he asked, a little reluctantly.

"Of course." She agreed without hesitation, her entire focus already fixed on the egg that was beginning to crack.

Aron gave Yanai a firm pat on the shoulder.

"The child cos first."

He sighed inwardly.

This brat really has terrible timing...

The ga was imdiately forgotten.

Everyone gathered, their attention drawn to the egg.

They sat or stood in small circles, surrounding it, while the other children clustered nearby, watching with wide, curious eyes.

"So—what do you think it’ll be this ti?" Ridan nudged a ghost wolf beside him.

"Obviously one of our boss’s little leopards," the ghost wolf replied confidently.

"Not necessarily. I think it’ll be our king’s little dragon," Viann argued.

"No way—it should be our young master’s little fox," Isain chid in.

"Or maybe a little rfolk prince!" the rfolk added eagerly.

"I think it might be a white tiger," Ridan offered.

"Too bad it won’t be a spirit cat," Silinx said with a hint of regret.

"If only it were a little snow wolf..." Aron murmured, staring at the egg.

The wolf clan males behind him all nodded in unison.

They wished the sa.

But unfortunately, none of Nina’s mates were from the wolf clan.

The others imdiately shot him skeptical looks.

"How could that be? You wolves don’t even have a share here."

Aron coughed lightly, covering his mouth. "I’m just imagining it, alright?"

He knew it was impossible. Still, there was no harm in hoping.

Ridan’s eyes suddenly lit up. "Hey—why don’t we make a bet again? Guess what kind of baby will hatch this ti!"

"We should ask Lady Nina first," Viann said cautiously. "Only if she agrees."

"Right, right," Ridan nodded.

If she got upset over them gambling on her children, that would be a disaster.

So he trotted over to ask.

Nina couldn’t help but laugh when she heard.

She hadn’t expected that her children’s hatching would turn into a betting event.

Still, it felt more like lighthearted fun than anything serious.

"That’s fine," she said with a smile.

With her permission, Ridan imdiately set things up.

Excitent rippled through the crowd as everyone eagerly pulled out beast crystals, placing their bets one after another, their eyes shining with anticipation as they waited for the mont the shell would finally break.

Sal was the first to rush forward, dropping a large pile of beast crystals onto the little leopard spot—though, in truth, all of them belonged to the ghost wolves. His own had long since been handed over to Nina.

He was utterly convinced—this ti, it had to be his little leopard.

Kith silently placed his bet on a little tiger, and many of the phoenix clan males followed suit.

Finch and Taru, without question, chose the little fox.

Taru glanced at the egg, his eyes soft with hope.

Another grandchild... would be nice.

Aviel and the dragon clan, as always, bet on a dragon hatchling.

Their reasoning was simple—the dragon clan was the strongest. Naturally, their offspring should be the most nurous as well.

Lex and the rfolk placed their bets together on a rfolk child.

Another little princess would be perfect, though a prince would do just fine, too.

Mino and Ming hesitated, looking from one option to another, unable to decide.

In the end, they simply stood aside and watched. After all... none of the options truly belonged to them.

Yanai and Aron found themselves equally torn.

If only there had been an option for a little snow wolf...

In the end, they split their bets, each choosing differently.

The children watched all this with curious confusion.

They looked up at Nina.

Mother... are they guessing what kind of baby will hatch?

"Yes," Nina said with a smile.

The children imdiately ran over to Ridan, holding out their little candies.

We want to play too!

"You want to guess as well?" Ridan asked, amused.

They nodded eagerly.

So he patiently explained the rules.

The mont he finished, they all ran off together and stood in an empty spot off to the side.

We choose this.

The males exchanged puzzled looks. Had the children misunderstood?

Ridan crouched down, gently correcting them. "You’re standing in the wrong place."

The children shook their heads.

No, we’re not.

Mino seed to catch on. "You an... you’re choosing ’none of the above’?"

The children nodded. That was close enough.

Ridan blinked in confusion.

That’s... an option?

The others laughed, assuming the children simply didn’t understand and had invented their own category.

After all, it had to be one of the listed races, didn’t it? How could it possibly be none?

Still, indulging them, Ridan added the extra option.

Even if they lost, no one would take their candies.

Soon, all attention returned to the egg. More cracks spread across its surface.

Excitent thickened in the air.

Everyone silently rooted for their chosen outco.

Crack... crack... crack...

The fractures widened.

The children cheered from the side, encouraging the little one inside.

Nina watched without blinking.

Then—with a sharp split—the shell cracked wide open.

The top half popped off.

A small, fluffy white head erged.

Its fur was like freshly fallen snow—soft, pure, and downy.

Two tiny pointed ears drooped gently atop its round head.

Its wet, puppy-like eyes shimred with innocence, and its little pink nose twitched faintly.

Soft.

Adorable.

Irresistible.

It turned its head, searching—until it found Nina.

Then, with a clumsy tumble, it scrambled out of the shell and toddled toward her.

Nina quickly stepped forward, catching it in her arms.

Her heart lted instantly. "A little wolf..."

It looked just like a tiny puppy—unbearably cute.

Around them, everyone froze.

A... snow wolf?

So—they had all guessed wrong?

The winners were... the children?

Yanai’s eyes widened slightly.

This brat... is actually my kin?

Aron stared blankly for a mont, then his eyes lit up with pure delight. "A snow wolf! It’s a snow wolf!"

The wolf clan males were equally thrilled. "A snow wolf cub!"

Sal and the others felt a flicker of disappointnt—but it was quickly replaced by joy.

No matter what—a new child had been born.

Still, their gazes drifted, almost instinctively, toward Yanai. Nina, too, glanced at him briefly.

...It couldn’t be, right?

It can’t be that coincidental...

Yanai imdiately stepped back. "Why are you all looking at ? It’s not mine."

He looked at Nina.

If it were his... he wouldn’t mind at all.

In fact, he would want nothing more than to have a child with her.

His gaze dropped to the little wolf in her arms. A hint of complicated emotion flickered in his eyes.

Even if the little thing kept causing him trouble...

Aron’s excitent faded into disappointnt. "...What a pity. It’s not my grandchild."

The others also looked away.

Of course—Yanai wasn’t one of Nina’s mates.

Nina held the little wolf close, gazing at its snowy fur.

After a mont, she smiled softly. "Then I’ll na you Shuri. Your nickna will be Shushu. How does that sound?"

The little wolf nodded eagerly.

I like it.

Nina couldn’t help but kiss it gently.

Too cute.

Far too cute.

anwhile, Ridan and the others cheerfully gathered up the beast crystals and distributed them to the children.

The children hugged their winnings and ran to Nina.

"Mother! We won so many prizes!"

Nina laughed, taking them. "Wow—you’re all amazing!"

She truly didn’t expect that the biggest winners would be the children.

Odian and the others watched Nina surrounded by the little ones, smiles rising unconsciously to their lips.

Then, without a word, they turned toward the kitchen, already preparing a grand feast to celebrate Shushu’s hatching.

anwhile, Aron pulled Yanai aside into a room, still unwilling to give up.

"...That little wolf really isn’t yours?"
