The rogue beasts couldn’t believe their ears.

What had they just heard?

Their boss—the ruthless, arrogant, cold-blooded leader who looked down on everyone—was actually asking how to compete for a female’s favor like ordinary males?

This couldn’t be real.

What kind of powerful female could possibly make their savage, tyrannical boss turn into this?

Ghost Wolf finally understood why Sal had specifically ordered him to capture males who were especially favored by their females.

So this was why.

The captured males exchanged bewildered glances. They had expected interrogation, perhaps torture—not... romantic consultation.

One of them cleared his throat nervously. "I’m good at hunting. My female likes it when I bring her beautiful furs."

Another hurried to add, "When I bring back beast crystals, she’s always very happy. At night she’ll co looking for ..."

A third puffed out his chest proudly. "My female likes my physique. I often show it off in front of her on purpose, and then..."

The advice flowed more freely after that.

Finally, one male hesitated before speaking in a low voice. "I... I have so special clothes. My female likes them very much. But they’re back in the tribe."

He went on to explain in detail.

Sal listened carefully, committing everything to mory. Then he instructed Ghost Wolf to accompany that male back to retrieve the items.

To the remaining males, Sal said solemnly, "You will stay here for two days. Think of more ideas. I will send soone to notify your families so they do not worry."

After analyzing everything he’d heard, Sal disappeared into the depths of the forest.

That night, after Nina had fallen asleep, Sal slipped out into the heavy rain.

The next morning, Nina woke as usual, instinctively reaching to check on the cubs before washing up.

When she stepped out, she saw Sal returning—soaked from head to toe.

Water dripped from the ends of his dark hair, tracing down the sharp lines of his cheek, sliding over his broad chest, then gliding slowly along the ridges of his defined abdon... and disappearing lower.

For no reason at all, Nina suddenly felt her throat grow dry.

She quickly turned her face aside.

"Where did you go last night? Why are you drenched like that?"

Sal casually raked a hand through his wet hair and smiled.

"I went hunting."

He swiftly pulled several newly cleaned animal hides from his space and spread them across the stone bed.

"Nina, these are the hides I hunted last night. Do you like them?"

He had washed and dried them elsewhere, working until dawn before braving the rain back.

"You went out in the storm just to hunt these?" Nina asked.

Sal nodded. "Females like furs. I wanted to hunt so myself and give them to you."

He pointed to a silver-white hide of exceptional quality.

"This one is from a silver sable beast. It’s very soft and warm. After the rainy season, the weather will turn cold. This would make a good cloak for you."

Warmth blood in Nina’s chest—but her feelings were complicated.

"Sal... the cubs aren’t yours. You don’t have to do this."

Sal t her gaze, serious and steady.

"I want to treat you well. It has nothing to do with the cubs. I won’t deny that finding out you were pregnant affected at first. But I’m not doing this because of them. I just... want to be good to you."

I just want you to like , too.

Even if she hadn’t been carrying cubs back then, he knew he would have fallen for her anyway.

Nina felt her thoughts tangle.

Her feelings toward Sal were complicated—there was the affection and closeness she’d once felt toward Little Flower, and there was the awkwardness of that night.

These days, he had treated her well. His only real fault had been deceiving her while disguised as Little Flower—but he had apologized, punished himself, and endured days of kneeling in repentance.

Slowly, she had stopped blaming him.

She studied him carefully.

Handso. Impeccable physique. Surprisingly obedient.

If he truly didn’t mind being the cubs’ stepfather... Maybe she could consider it?

"These furs are beautiful. Thank you," she said softly.

Sal’s heart leapt. Her acceptance was a sign. She was beginning to accept him.

He would work even harder.

From the side, Mino and Yanai watched the atmosphere between them grow warr and felt a flicker of jealousy. They silently resolved to hunt even better furs for Nina.

"Nina, breakfast’s ready," Mino called.

Just then, the little white tiger cub stirred groggily and tried to hop off the fur toward Nina.

She quickly scooped him up before his paws could touch the ground.

The cub—Yinny—rubbed against her affectionately.

Mino took him gently. "You eat first. We’ll feed Yinny."

Yanai prepared milk, and Nina went to eat. Sal joined them after tidying up.

The rain fell heavily that day, so they decided to remain in the cave and rest.

They were playing with the cubs when voices ca from outside.

"Hello? We need shelter from the rain. May we co in? We’ll give you so prey in return and won’t stay long—just until the rain lightens."

In the beast world, once an abandoned cave was claid, it belonged to whoever occupied it first. Entering required permission unless one intended to fight for it.

Mino and the others looked to Nina for her decision.

She covered the egg cubs carefully and nodded.

It was best to avoid unnecessary conflict. The strangers had asked politely rather than barging in.

"Co in," Mino called.

Five males entered after leaving most of their prey outside.

The cave, already small, grew crowded.

When they saw Nina, their eyes filled with undisguised amazent. Two of the younger males nearly stared openly.

Mino and the others shot them cold looks, and they quickly looked away—though they continued sneaking glances.

"Thank you for letting us in. This is for you."

One male offered a bound, still-living wild rabbit to Yanai.

"We’ve been hunting the past two days. The rain wasn’t too bad at first, so we tried to head back despite it. But it got heavier and heavier. We’ve been soaked for a long ti. We saw this cave and hoped to shelter here. Sorry for disturbing you."

Yanai glanced at Nina.

"It’s fine," she said gently. "You can keep the prey. Sit over there. Build another fire to warm yourselves."

"Thank you," the male said gratefully, placing the prey back outside.

They sat in a corner and started a small fire.

The cave grew quiet except for the crackle of burning wood.

One of the younger males tried to start a conversation.

"Little female, why are you here in such a remote cave? Shouldn’t females stay in their tribe? Especially during the peak of the rainy season?"

Why would a female venture deep into the mountains at such a dangerous ti?
