In another villa in Prosperity Gardens, Mr. and Mrs. Grant were shouting at the top of their lungs, cursing at the refugees relentlessly knocking on their door.

"This is our house! Why should we open the door for you?"

"Take shelter from the rain? Go find shelter sowhere else! We’re not opening this door!"

By early morning, Jed Grant had already cursed out and driven away several groups of people.

But different people kept coming to their door, begging to be let in to stay.

"Dad, that’s enough. They can’t get in."

Liam Grant stopped Jed Grant, who was standing under the eaves.

"We still have to drive them away. We have so many supplies here. If soone gets in, who wouldn’t be green with envy?" said Mrs. Grant, Susan Warner.

A few days ago, her son had brought them to the city, telling them the apocalypse was coming. He had filled this house from top to bottom with supplies, and it would be bad if those people outside found out.

"Mrs. Grant, I’ve already had people raise and reinforce the walls around this house, and the main gate has been thickened by several layers. How could those people possibly get in?"

Renee Strong walked out, dressed in a silk nightgown, her young body graceful and alluring.

"It was my son’s idea. You all just followed his lead."

At these words, it wasn’t just Renee Strong’s expression that changed; so did those of the few others in the room.

"Alright, Mom, why don’t you go make so food? Everyone’s hungry."

Liam Grant felt a little helpless. He was the only one on the team who had brought his family along.

Afraid that he wouldn’t be able to properly explain certain things from his past life, he had lied and claid he’d dread that the apocalypse was coming.

This also led the Grant Family to believe that everyone else was just riding their coattails.

"Brother, didn’t you say you were going to look for soone outside? Can you take with you? I’ve been cooped up at ho for days, I’m going to die of boredom."

Hannah Grant pleaded, tugging on Liam Grant’s sleeve.

"Mm, alright. Get ready in a bit."

Liam Grant couldn’t say no to his own sister, so he agreed.

"Liam, didn’t we already have a plan for this?"

After Hannah Grant walked away cheering, Renee Strong was clearly displeased.

’They had planned this the night before last. What if sothing goes wrong because Hannah is tagging along?’

"What else can we do? If we can’t find Ian Chandler, this whole lead is a bust," Ivan Lawson said, taking a large bite of his breakfast.

Little did they know, Nina Jacobs had heard everything they said.

"In our past life, Ian Chandler would only listen to Nina Jacobs. If it weren’t for him, Nina Jacobs never would have been able to latch onto a connection like Myra Lawson."

Renee Strong said indignantly. She was resentful; although Nina Jacobs had saved Ian Chandler, she was clearly the one who had healed him.

’This life, I have to get ahold of Ian Chandler and secure Myra Lawson’s connection for myself.’

In her past life, while she was treating Ian Chandler, she had overheard him say that the first place he was forced to flee to was the Prosperity Gardens Villa Area in City D.

That was why they had chosen this place as their temporary base in this life.

’So that’s why. It was because of him?’

Nina Jacobs suddenly understood.

Myra Lawson was the only daughter of the future leader of the City D Base, and Ian Chandler was her only son.

Not only that, but Myra Lawson’s current husband was the supre commander of the main base’s military, and her ex-husband had established what was then the largest private base—the Tomorrow Base—in the third year of the apocalypse.

No wonder Renee Strong wanted to get in with her.

What Renee Strong didn’t know, however, was that the only reason she had been able to heal the heavily injured Ian Chandler in their past life was because Nina Jacobs had given him so diluted Healing Potion beforehand.

Thinking of this made Nina Jacobs’s heart ache.

In her past life, exchanging for a single bottle of Healing Potion cost a massive amount of system experience, so she always diluted it and used it drop by drop.

But this ti, after accumulating for the past few days, she already had nearly 90,000 bottles of Healing Potion!

She wouldn’t let Myra Lawson’s network of connections slip through her fingers, either.

She had to find Ian Chandler before Renee Strong and her group did.

Ian Chandler was about 14 years old right now. Nina recalled that when she t him in her past life, there wasn’t a single patch of unblemished skin on his body.

Except for his face.

Ian Chandler had a face that could rival any top celebrity’s. The sadist who had tortured him only threw him out when he was on the verge of death.

At this point, Ian Chandler probably hadn’t suffered that sa fate yet.

Nina Jacobs stood by a window on the top floor, from where she could see so of what was happening outside. Combined with her "Five Senses Enhancent," she could even make out the faces of so of the refugees.

She rembered Ian Chandler’s face and voice, but after scanning the area, she didn’t find anything.

’Maybe Renee Strong rembered wrong. Did Ian Chandler really co here?’

The "Five Senses Enhancent" only lasted for three hours. To ensure she could activate it at any ti, Nina Jacobs temporarily deactivated the Skill.

Outside the villa area, refugees continued to arrive in a steady stream. Perhaps Ian Chandler just hadn’t made it here yet.

The entire day passed, and by nightfall, it still hadn’t quieted down outside the Hale Family’s door.

Nina Jacobs used her Skill to search several more tis, but she didn’t find any clues.

She began to wonder if her Skill’s search range wasn’t large enough, or if she had missed sothing.

"We probably won’t be able to sleep tonight."

Vera Coleman said with a wry smile, listening to the knocking at the door.

"Don’t worry, you go ahead and sleep. I’ll keep watch tonight."

Daniel Hale was constantly worried about the situation outside.

He just didn’t know how long this would last.

"Why won’t this acid rain stop? What if this place floods after a while?"

Leo Hale was also fraught with worry, but Vera Coleman noticed that sothing seed off about him.

"Sweetie, are you running a fever?"

Leo Hale’s forehead was burning up, and upon closer inspection, his entire face had an unhealthy red flush.

Once they confird he had a fever, Leo Hale suddenly felt the world spin. Daniel Hale helped him back to his room.

But a problem quickly arose: they had no spare fever dicine in the house.

"I have so. I’ll go," Nina Jacobs said, watching Daniel Hale break out in a sweat as he frantically rummaged through their cabinets and drawers.

"Okay, okay, good. Thank goodness, thank goodness."

Daniel Hale was in too much of a hurry to wonder why Nina Jacobs had fever dicine; Leo’s fever had already hit 104 degrees, and he kept crying out for water.

Rembering Ben Stone’s symptoms, he was scared stiff.

"Leo... he’s not going to turn into... that, is he?"

"He won’t. Nina has dicine, so don’t let your imagination run wild."

Vera Coleman was worried too. She was worried about Leo, but even more worried about the "daughter" who went to give him the dicine.

’What if Leo really did turn into...’

But when she arrived at Leo’s room, she found he was already sleeping peacefully.

Nina Jacobs was standing by the window, looking outside. Next to her were an empty glass of water and the fever dicine.

"He should be fine," Nina Jacobs said.

She had put a "Healing Potion" in Leo’s water; the potion was effective against common illnesses too.

"That’s good. We owe you so much for these past few days."

Vera Coleman didn’t know how to express her gratitude to her "daughter." They had wanted to take care of Nina Jacobs, but ever since the acid rain started, she had been the one taking care of them instead.

Much of the food and drink they’d had these last few days was brought back by Nina.

"Your stomach..."

For the past two days, Nina Jacobs had actually been wanting to ask. Vera Coleman’s belly looked a lot bigger.

’Is a four-month-old fetus supposed to be this big?’
