Chapter 115: Chapter 115: Let Her Have Her Way
“You brain-chopping wretch, what nonsense are you spouting!” Having heard her words, Grandma Xia shouted in a fit of rage.
Xia Chuyi didn’t care at all, saying indifferently, “Truthful words are unpleasant to the ear, but what I’m saying is all for the good of our Old Xia Family. I hope you can take it to heart, Grandma. As for Aunt Xia, don’t co up with such bad ideas anymore.”
Everyone in the Xia Family knew she was shirking responsibility, but they really couldn’t find a convincing excuse.
Was it that our Old Xia Family just had to depend on Uncle Xia to survive?
Grandma Xia glared furiously at Aunt Xia, clearly dumping all her resentnt on her.
Aunt Xia was too angry to speak and could only glare back at Xia Chuyi with venomous eyes.
Such trivial and ineffective glares, Xia Chuyi truly didn’t take seriously.
Suddenly, Xia Chuyi smiled, her eyes curving like crescents, and said, “Actually, Grandma, once Sister i gets the employnt letter, she can just let Chengzu have it.”
“Grandma, haven’t you always said that Sister i is the most obedient girl in the family? If you talk to her, she’ll surely listen to you when the ti cos!”
Aunt Xia trembled with anger. Xia Chuyi was clearly setting a trap for her two children!
Xia Chuyi couldn’t be bothered to spare her a glance and continued, “As for my uncle, you really shouldn’t trouble him.”
“His cart was wrecked in the accident, and he was injured; he won’t recover his vitality any ti soon, and people won’t take his word for it.”
She stressed her pity to guard against the Xia Family mbers not getting their way with her and then turning to Mother Xia to plead with Uncle Xia.
“Mother…” Aunt Xia wanted to persuade further, but Grandma Xia stopped her with a look.
Aunt Xia had to consider her two children and was afraid they would make a fuss, but for Grandma Xia, the choice was much simpler; between the two children, the boy was naturally more important.
There was no helping it, as Xia Chuyi’s previous words had hit Grandma Xia’s soft spot.
Even though the Xia Family’s reputation had already fallen in the village, she was still a martyr’s mother; could she really stoop to the point where the entire village would point their fingers and laugh?
Grandma Xia had already made her plans.
What the Xia Family mbers were scheming wasn’t Xia Chuyi’s concern; out of the corner of her eye, she saw that Xia i had finished writing the deed and was coming back.
“Xia Chuyi!” Xia i ca over, waving the paper, “Here, I’ve written the deed!”
Xia i carefully read through the deed, confirming that it was indeed written by Xia i herself. She nodded approvingly and exchanged the papers with her.
As soon as the employnt letter reached Xia i’s hands, she burst into a joyous smile.
“Ha ha, I can finally go work in the factory!”
“Xia i, give that here!” Xia Chengzu imdiately aid his demands at Xia i.
“Why should I? It’s mine!” Xia i instantly shouted in protest.
Xia Chengzu was used to throwing his weight around at ho, and his temper flared up instantly. He reached out to grab Xia i’s hair.
Xia i was no pushover and, keeping the employnt letter tucked against her chest, took shelter behind Aunt Xia.
“Mom, look, brother is going to hit !”
How could Aunt Xia stand to watch her precious daughter get hit by her own elder son? She quickly stepped in between them and pleaded, “Chengzu, Chengzu, Da i is your own sister! Can’t a family sit down and sort things out peacefully?”
Xia Chengzu couldn’t care less and reached out his hand to grab her regardless.
Xia i, seeing that Aunt Xia was utterly incapable of restraining her big brother, pushed her towards Xia Chengzu with all her might.
“Ouch!” Aunt Xia staggered from the impact and had to quickly grab hold of Xia Chengzu to keep her balance.
Tripped by his mother, Xia Chengzu failed to catch Xia i.
