Chapter 152: Chapter 152: What Did I Do Wrong?
Sohow, Zhang Xiaoling struck by insight, suddenly asked He Qing, “Your injury wouldn’t have anything to do with Xia Chuyi, would it?”
He Qing revealed a slightly embarrassed expression.
“It’s all because that damned girl is unreasonable!” He Qing said, his tone full of indignation.
Their gazes t, reading the expression in each other’s eyes—they both had a gripe with Xia Chuyi.
Zhang Xiaoling’s eyes darted around, then she said, “Xia Chuyi really thinks she’s above the law, daring to hit a soldier? Humph, she really needs to be taught a lesson!”
After her spiel, He Qing was montarily startled, then feigned helplessness and said, “Hey, comrade, you’re right. I’ll listen to you.”
His eyes, however, were brimming with slyness.
At this ti, Xia Chuyi was busy preparing for the opening of her business the next day, utterly unaware that she had again attracted a villain behind her back.
The signboard ordered before the new year was ready, with the words “Youwei” painted in red lacquer, written personally by her with vigorous and bold strokes.
Just this sign alone made the place look not like a new store, but an established brand.
Xia Chuyi nodded, satisfied with her work.
The ingredients, pot by pot, sorted and sequenced, had all been stewed to perfection.
The next day, early in the morning, the crackle of firecrackers announced the grand opening of Xia Chuyi’s “Youwei” braised at shop.
With the new year almost over, so households had nearly finished their holiday provisions, but for others with many relatives and friends still to visit, “Youwei” opening was perfect timing to add a dish to the table.
“Full of flavor, a delightful eat, 20% discount to celebrate the opening!” Xia Chuyi wrote on a piece of paper and posted it on the door.
This slogan quickly brought in a steady stream of custors to the shop.
The business was so good that Xia Chengzong was forced to run around, playing the role of a server.
By midday, when the rush had eased, Xia Chengzong finally ca to a realization and said, “Xia Chuyi, I ca to look after the place, not to serve as your errand boy!”
He dropped the cleaning rag with a scowl on his face, ready to stop working.
Xia Chuyi, anwhile, was busy writing “Braised Goods Sold Out” on a piece of cardboard, not even lifting her head.
After hanging the sign at the front, she stepped inside and said, “You’re the one who said you’d watch the place, I only ever ntioned you coming to work.”
aning, he was ant to help out from the very beginning.
“You!” Xia Chengzong glared at her.
“What about ?” Xia Chuyi replied, undaunted.
Xia Chengzong gritted his teeth and said, “Just you wait. If soone cos to make trouble in the shop, I’ll see you sort it out yourself!”
So people really do have a gift for jinxing—no sooner had Xia Chengzong’s words left his mouth than a commotion arose outside the shop.
Soone asked, “Is this the place?”
Xia Chuyi looked outside to see two uniford police officers—real police—heading toward her shop.
Beside the police were He Qing, whom she had pumled the day before, and Zhang Xiaoling, who, for so inexplicable reason, had beco her enemy.
Police, He Qing, Zhang Xiaoling; these three terms appearing together could only an bad news.
“Which one of you is Xia Chuyi? Co with us to the Police Station,” one of the officers called in, his tone stern.
Xia Chuyi raised an eyebrow, eyeing the incoming officers and her two old adversaries.
Wiping her hands on a towel calmly, she asked, “I’m Xia Chuyi. May I ask, officer, what law have I broken?”
The two officers exchanged looks, and one stepped forward and said, “Soone has reported you for assaulting a soldier and undermining national security and unity.”
Quite a hefty accusation was suddenly slapped onto Xia Chuyi.
