Passersby hurried by, vehicles rushed along.
It wasn’t until a small car pulled over to the curb and honked the horn.

Shi Jun dropped her off at the Lin family’s home and drove away directly.
Ye Qiuqiu followed Butler Lu into the living room and saw her daughter playing happily.
Qianqian was delighted to see her mom return, dropped her toys, and nestled into Qiuqiu’s arms with a broad smile.
“It’s done.” Ye Qiuqiu, seeing Lin Gantang’s caring gaze and holding Qianqian, said, “It went surprisingly smoothly. He didn’t fight me for custody, everything was clearly written in the divorce agreement.”

“Yes, it’s all in the past.” Qiuqiu smiled, a smile she hadn’t shown in a long time, “The days ahead will be better.”
It was a smile of relief, like one who has finally broken free from shackles after being trapped inside a wall for too long.
“Exactly.” Lin Gantang spoke with ease, “So Ms. Ye Qiuqiu, please put down Qianqian now and close your eyes.”
Ye Qiuqiu, though puzzled, did as told, and then felt something placed in her hands.
She opened her eyes and saw a gift box tied with a ribbon. Inside, partially hidden by the barely-closed lid, a fluffy cat’s head peeked out.
Lin Gantang’s eyes curved like crescent moons, “Happy Birthday, Qiuqiu.”

Ye Qiuqiu was stunned, then carefully embraced the kitten, pressing it tightly against her face.
After retrieving her daughter, Ye Qiuqiu said farewell to Lin Gantang and returned to her “discount rental home.”
She pulled open the curtain, letting in a beam of warm sunlight. Outside, the fragrance of magnolias was rich and soothing.
Ye Qiuqiu looked around the attentively decorated home, then at the kitten observing its new environment. She felt like laughing but tears clouded her vision.
She knew all too well that Tangtang had prepared all this for her, the cream-colored bedroom, the gentle decorative style—it was all coincidentally to her taste.
And her beloved magnolias too.
Tangtang had helped her so much.
“Mommy.” Qianqian, looking up, tugged at her mommy’s trousers, not understanding why her mommy had suddenly started crying.
“It’s okay, mommy’s happy, so happy that she’s crying,” Ye Qiuqiu dabbed her tears away and crouched down to embrace her daughter.
There was a knock at the door.
Ye Qiuqiu wondered who else could be ing to see her; she peeked through the peephole and was startled by who she saw.
Another knock brought back her attention; Ye Qiuqiu hurriedly opened the door.
“Such a grown-up and you don’t even let your mother know what’s going on, just hiding away.” Ye’s mother entered, chiding, but stopped upon seeing Qiuqiu’s red eyes.
Ye’s father, not much for words, picked up his granddaughter, his eyes never leaving Qiuqiu.
“Are you being mistreated? Dad will take care of it.”
“Mom and Dad have sorted everything out at home, we’re here to help you.”
Ye Qiuqiu couldn’t hold back any longer and, like a child, burst into uncontrollable sobs.
Those who love you, even if separated by thousands of miles, will always find their way to you in time.
