At the door of the hospital room, Qin Mobai loosened Lou Xi’s hand.

"You two talk alone; it’s inconvenient for to be present." Qin Mobai patted Lou Xi’s shoulder and said, "I’ll be right outside, call if there’s any situation."

Qin Mobai’s eyes were full of reassurance.

Seeing Qin Mobai’s calm eyes, Lou Xi’s previously restless heart slowly settled down.

His gaze was like a calming pill.

"Okay, I’ll be out soon."

"It doesn’t matter if you’re slow; we have plenty of ti."

Qin Mobai wasn’t in a hurry; the important thing was for Lou Xi to handle these matters well.

Qin Mobai watched Lou Xi enter the hospital room, and once the door closed, he turned to walk towards Ji Mushen.

Because of Ji Mushen’s earlier bowing apology, the atmosphere on the entire floor beca extrely tense, especially after Lou Xi entered the room, when everyone on the floor quickly disappeared.

Outside the silent hospital room, only Qin Mobai and Ji Mushen remained.

When Qin Mobai reached Ji Mushen, Ji Mushen finally spoke: "If she isn’t You Ran’s daughter..."

The latter half of Ji Mushen’s sentence went unsaid, but it was understood.

If Lou Xi wasn’t Shen Youran’s daughter, Ji Mushen wouldn’t have let her be so presumptuous.

Qin Mobai was non-committal.

"If you weren’t Ms. Shen’s husband, she wouldn’t be polite to you," Qin Mobai said coldly.

The two n, four eyes eting, sparks flying.

Finally, it was Ji Mushen who retracted his sharp gaze, realizing that they should be family. Why should family face each other like enemies?

"When I found You Ran, she was so thin that she was skin and bones. Just after giving birth, she hadn’t received good care. It took ten years to nurse her back to health." Ji Mushen suddenly spoke, recounting events from long ago.

Qin Mobai didn’t interrupt him. The period involving Ji Mushen and Shen Youran was well hidden by Ji Mushen; if not personally spoken about, nothing could be found.

"She was also sowhat ntally unfocused at the ti, alone, saying the child was gone. Later I found out it was the Shen Family who told You Ran that her child had died at birth. I didn’t think much at the ti, just wanted to take You Ran away from that sad place."

It turned out Shen Youran didn’t seek out her daughter because the Shen Family told her the child was already dead.

"To avoid her being heartbroken by seeing the child, I never ntioned wanting children over the years. But unexpectedly, a few days ago, she saw you at the hotel. You Ran instantly recognized Lou Xi, perhaps due to a mother-daughter connection; she was certain even before a DNA test was done."

Ji Mushen summarized the events of the past in a few words.

The love and hatred in this world are mostly misunderstandings piled upon misunderstandings.

Lou Xi thought Shen Youran didn’t want her, Shen Youran thought Lou Xi was already dead.

This led to over twenty years of separation between mother and daughter.

"Ms. Shen didn’t do the DNA test; Mr. Ji helped with it." Qin Mobai said softly, that day before going out to sea.

Earlier, Qin Mobai and Lou Xi encountered locals celebrating a carnival at the square, during which he and Lou Xi were separated for a period. Ji Mushen’s people must have taken samples from Lou Xi at that ti.

And that night when Qin Mobai tried to leave with Lou Xi, the test report hadn’t co out, and Ji Mushen couldn’t let them leave.

Ji Mushen did not deny it, thus admitting he helped Shen Youran and Lou Xi do a DNA test, and the final result confird Lou Xi and Shen Youran are mother and daughter.

So earlier when Lou Xi demanded Ji Mushen apologize, he could only comply.
