Chapter 163 The Book is Missing
Li Chunhua was furious upon hearing the gossip of the townspeople, picking up a broom to chase them away, “Scram! What are you loitering around my house for?”
ngyu didn’t want to beco the topic of gossip for others in the future either; she just wanted to take her books and leave.
She was not going to let Li Chunhua off the hook that easily, either.
When Li Chunhua moved away from the doorway, she imdiately stepped inside.
She opened the room she had once lived in according to her mory.
In her past life, this was the room she and Jiang Huaiyu once shared.
But now, there was only a bed in the room, and her belongings were nowhere to be seen.
Actually, she didn’t sleep on a bed back then, but on two long benches placed end to end, with a row of bamboo laid on top—a bamboo she had chopped herself.
Then she’d lay a layer of straw on the bamboo, cover it with a tattered mat discarded by Jiang Huaiyu, and that was her bed.
The quilt she used couldn’t really be called a quilt—it was just a few lumps of blackened, tattered, and hard cotton wadding.
When a Five Guarantees resident in the village passed away, their tattered quilts were thrown out. She picked up the quilts, washed and aired them, and they beca her own.
At that ti, Jiang Huaiyu wouldn’t allow her to bring the deceased’s belongings into the house. She insisted on taking them back, and as a result, they fought for the first ti—she wanted to bring them in, and Huaiyu wouldn’t allow it.
Naturally, she was beaten half to death by Li Chunhua afterward and couldn’t get out of bed for three days. But thanks to the diation of the team captain, she still managed to bring that tattered quilt into the room.
Besides that tattered bed, her belongings included a chest she had made herself out of bamboo strips and rattan. It contained her clothes and her books.
But now, both the bed made of the two long benches and the chest constructed from bamboo strips and rattan were gone.
She searched through Huaiyu’s cabinet and didn’t find her books, but she did find a few old items she had collected from rubbish: an old costics box with peeling lacquer, housing a flower-engraved horn comb with several teeth broken, two fractured jade bracelets, several jade beads, and a broken jade hairpin in two pieces.
She didn’t know before, but now, the mont she touched those items, she knew they were antiques, each with its fair share of the Sun and Moon Essence.
Without hesitation, she threw the costics box and all its contents into her spatial storage.
When Li Chunhua saw ngyu enter Huaiyu’s room, she dropped her broom and rushed in, “What are you doing here? Trying to steal sothing?”
ngyu gave her a cold glance, “Where are my things?”
Li Chunhua replied instinctively, “What things could you possibly have?”
But as soon as she finished speaking, she realized she had misspoken. Sure, she didn’t own much, but she couldn’t say that out loud. What would the neighbors think if they knew a sixteen-year-old Miss had nothing of her own?
Though her reputation in this place had already beco as bad as it could be.
ngyu, clenching her teeth, asked, “Where are my clothes? My books?”
Even though she had bought new clothes, her old ones held the eighty-odd yuan she had collected while scavenging in her past life.
For ngyu, who already possessed a fortune of several hundred thousand yuan, those eighty yuan were not a big deal.
But that money was what she’d saved penny by penny from picking up trash in her spare ti, with plans to use it for university travel expenses!
“Your junk? I’ve thrown it out!” said Li Chunhua.
ngyu was furious, “You’ve thrown it away? Great. Then we’ll use your things to compensate!”
She headed towards Li Chunhua’s room. Li Chun was about to stop her and even reached out to grab ngyu’s hand.
However, ngyu swiftly dodged and rushed into Li Chunhua’s room.
