Chapter 23 Fiancée vs Girlfriend (Part 2)
ngyu took a sip of warm water: "Hmm, the temperature of this water is just right. Auntie, even though I'm from the countryside, I'd appreciate it if you refrain from using derogatory terms like 'bumpkin', as it makes you, a city person, seem uncultured.
Also, you've forgotten that I used a key to enter. Could I have gotten in without Dongxing giving the key? So, don't easily label as a thief."
ngyu said, twirling the key on a string in her hand as if to flaunt it.
Now she finally understood—Gu Dong had captured her on suspicion of espionage, but when she cheekily requested to move into his room under the pretense of being his fiancée, he agreed so readily—it was to use her to ward off other romantic interests.
Ye Rushui was furious; she had been here for two days, and Gu Dongxing had never given her a key. Every ti she ca, she had to go to the logistics office to have the door opened.
But this girl cos along, and Dongxing imdiately gave her a key!
"Don't call auntie!" She reached out to snatch the key from ngyu's hand: "You stole the key, didn't you? Give it to !"
How could ngyu possibly give her the key?
She pocketed the key swiftly and pushed Ye Rushui away: "I am Gu Dongxing's fiancée; naturally, he gave the key himself."
She looked at Ye Rushui with a scrutinizing gaze: "You don't have a key? But you claim to be Gu Dongxing's girlfriend? How can a girlfriend not have the keys to her boyfriend's place? So, you just self-proclaid to be his girlfriend, didn't you?"
Ye Rushui's face quickly contorted with the embarrassnt and anger of having her lie exposed.
She retaliated out of sha: "You say you're Dongxing's fiancée, what evidence do you have?"
"Evidence?" ngyu pulled out a ring set with an erald: "Does this count? Dongxing gave it to ."
Ye Rushui knew her stuff; upon seeing the ring, she recognized it as a treasure.
Apparently not satisfied with just that impact, ngyu then produced a fully green jade bracelet: "And this too, Dongxing said this is a family heirloom from his mom, intended only for his wife."
She looked at Ye Rushui: "Dongxing even gave the family heirloom. Do you still think my claim as his fiancée is false?"
In fact, both the erald ring and the full green jade bracelet had been taken out from her storage talisman.
Ye Rushui saw ngyu brandish the jewelry, and either piece was obviously very valuable.
Such items were not sothing a village girl could present—could she truly be Brother Dong's fiancée?
But she wouldn't acknowledge it. She scoffed: "These items don't prove anything; no one can verify Brother Dong gave them to you. I can produce several pieces too. I've grown up with Brother Dong since we were kids, how could he possibly reject for a rural bumpkin like you."
ngyu laughed: "Childhood sweetheart? Just because you were neighbors for a year, you call that being childhood sweethearts?
You're really stretching the aning of 'childhood sweetheart', aren't you? By your logic, anyone who has been his neighbor over the years is a childhood sweetheart? Brother Dong must have too many then!"
"You—" Ye Rushui was puzzled, how did she know that she and Brother Dong were only neighbors for a year?
Could it be that Brother Dong had shared even these details with her?
This girl seed to be only about fifteen or sixteen years old; she shouldn't be this scheming.
Is she really Dongxing's fiancée?
No, Brother Dong is mine, I absolutely cannot let this girl take him away from .
