Having done hard labor for most of the day, Shi Wangyue and Ning Youguang were hungry.
They unanimously decided to first find a place to pay homage to their stomachs.
After driving out of the neighborhood, the two headed straight to a Hunan restaurant that Ning Youguang had long favored.
This Hunan restaurant, called "Carrot Restaurant," ranks among the top three on Beijing’s gourt list.
Once inside, they found the shop wasn’t large, yet it was packed with people.
Every table’s guests were enthusiastically eating, wiping sweat even on a snowy day—whether from the spiciness or the heat, it was unclear.
Soon, with the waiter’s recomndation, they ordered several of the restaurant’s renowned signature dishes.
"Carrot Restaurant" truly lived up to its reputation.
Shi Wangyue and Ning Youguang found every dish they ordered particularly delicious.

After dinner, they headed ho.
Ning Youguang, sitting in the passenger seat, suddenly called out, "Stop the car."
"What’s up?" Shi Wangyue slowly stopped the car near a bus stop.
"Soone over there is selling turtles, I’m going to buy them." Ning Youguang said as she opened the car door, "Wait here for a mont."
"Where exactly, and how long will you take?" Shi Wangyue asked.
"Just at the red light intersection we passed by, won’t take long." Ning Youguang quickly ran off.
Within a few minutes, Shi Wangyue saw her return with two "turtles" in hand.
"Are these turtles?" Shi Wangyue asked sowhat unsure.
"No, they’re mountain turtles," Ning Youguang said, slightly out of breath. "These two make a pair, and when I got there, soone was just about to buy them to make soup. I had to pay extra to get them—close call."
"Well, they’re quite lucky, then." With Ning Youguang’s seatbelt fastened, Shi Wangyue turned the ignition back on. "Though I’m not sure if it’s luck or misfortune." Ning Youguang said, "I initially thought they were regular turtles, and I could release them into a river. But what do we do with two mountain turtles now?"
She looked troubled, "I can’t quickly find a suitable mountain to release them onto, and I don’t know how to take care of them—anyone know about mountain turtles?"
Shi Wangyue smirked, "Yes."
"Who?" Ning Youguang’s eyes lit up instantly.
"Baidu." Shi Wangyue laughed, "Why don’t you look it up on Baidu about taking care of mountain turtles? We can keep them for a few days and release them on Phoenix Mountain next week."
Phoenix Mountain is a large mountain on the outskirts of Beijing, known for its towering height and expansive, pristine vegetation, ho to nurous wild animals.
Shi Wangyue felt that releasing a couple of mountain turtles there shouldn’t be a problem.
"Alright then." Complying, Ning Youguang obediently took out her phone to search on how to care for mountain turtles.
After figuring out how to take care of them,
Ning Youguang finally had the leisure to vent, "You know, city folks see vendors selling wild animals on the street like they’re witnessing a deity selling elixirs, scrambling over like they think eating these wild animals will imdiately extend their lifespan and strengthen their body—it’s really funny."
"Just people shackled by fear and ignorance," Shi Wangyue said calmly.
"It’s truly frightening to lack proper understanding." Ning Youguang couldn’t help but shudder.
"Various causes and conditions shape this colorful world." Shi Wangyue’s voice was deep and gentle, "Calm down, my dear."
"I’m not angry," Ning Youguang sighed, "I’m simply sighing at—and bewildered and disappointed by—so many fallacies held as absolute truths in this era." 1314
