On this day, the sky was a clear blue.

Inside the tent, Su Jin was writing a letter ho but after writing a few words, she crumpled it up and tossed it to the floor.

Previously, she had sent letters to the Princess Consort and Mrs. Tang, leaving out the Emperor. Eunuch Fu deliberately sent soone to deliver a ssage to Su Jin, saying the Emperor hadn’t received her letter and was in a bad mood, cautioning Su Jin to never ever forget the Emperor when writing letters ho again.

When others are omitted, it’s rely a discomfort, but missing the Emperor could lead to unforeseeable consequences.

Although the Emperor wouldn’t kill soone just because he’s unhappy, anyone who offends the Emperor at such a ti is beyond unlucky.

A minor mistake that would usually warrant house arrest might instead result in being banished to the Cold Palace.

Eunuch Fu advised Su Jin to write to the Emperor frequently, one letter a day wouldn’t be too much, but one every ten days would be too little...

Su Jin wrote her letters according to the minimal standard.

Every ten days, she wrote letters in sets of three copies, and when there was military intelligence sent to the Capital City, she would send them along.

Additionally, to avoid leaving out the Emperor, every ti she wrote letters ho, she started with the Emperor.

Staring at the paper, Su Jin’s head throbbed – she really didn’t have much to say to her father.

She wished she could simply write "All is well, don’t worry."

However, if she were to be so perfunctory, Eunuch Fu would likely send her another ssage begging her to write a few more words.

Su Jin felt a headache as she stared blankly at the letter paper.

In stark contrast was Xingxing, who sat at the dressing table, feverishly writing.

Indeed.

Xingxing was also writing letters ho.

And she was assisting Su Jin in doing so.

Seeing her lady sit there for a quarter of an hour barely writing two lines, Xingxing volunteered to help Su Jin with the work of writing ho.

Su Jin felt it wasn’t proper for Xingxing to write her letters, but Xingxing could write a letter to Mrs. Tang to take back anyway.

Xingxing ground ink for herself, and began to write swiftly.

While Su Jin discarded five or six pieces of paper, Xingxing had already filled five or six sheets.

Putting down the pen, Xingxing blew the ink dry and said, "Miss, I’m finished."

Su Jin turned her head to see Xingxing approaching with a stack of letters.

Su Jin, "...."

She actually wrote so much?

"What did you write?" Su Jin asked.

Xingxing handed over the letters for Su Jin to read.

After looking over a few pages, Su Jin’s lips twitched uncontrollably.

This wasn’t a letter ho at all.

Since when did a letter ho include praise from soldiers about Marquis Dongxiang, then Su Chong, followed by her?

Especially with her, lavishly praised without repetition over two full pages.

Though Xingxing’s complints were exaggerated, she wrote with such simplicity, even ntioning how the soldiers widely acknowledged her only flaw was poor handwriting.

After reading, Su Jin’s forehead was covered with taphorical dark lines, Xingxing looked at her expectantly, "Miss, how did I do?"

"You wrote wonderfully, I leap off the page," Su Jin said with twitching lips.

Fortunately, she only gave her six sheets, which the maid filled completely.

If she’d given her a stack, she might have reported even her eating, drinking, and sleeping habits to her mother.

Xingxing took the letter joyfully, carefully folding it into an envelope.

Just as she finished, a soldier outside reported, "Heir’s wife, the workshop items are ready."

Su Jin was delighted.

After so many busy days, the item was finally finished.

Su Jin got up to leave.

Xingxing placed the letters on the table and went out with her.

Just after they left, the Prince wanted to send items to the Capital City, knowing Su Jin would write a letter to the Emperor today, sent soone to retrieve it.

Pressed for ti, the soldier didn’t inform Su Jin directly, entering the tent and seeing a letter without any indication of recipient, assud it was for the Emperor, then took it.

General Workshop.

Surrounded by soldiers, all that was visible were people, not the item Su Jin wanted.

"Heir’s wife is here," soone called out.

The gathered soldiers opened a path.

Su Jin saw the crossbow car she wanted.

It looked identical to the drawings she made, but no one knew how far it could fire.

General Zhao, overseeing the workshop, looked at Su Jin and said, "Heir’s wife, is this the crossbow car you wanted."

Actually, the military camp had crossbow cars, but the range wasn’t far enough, and they were cumberso and inconvenient to use.

Su Jin discovered the workshop had several crossbow cars by chance, prompting a question.

Marquis Dongxiang had a regint of Flying Eagle Guards whose accuracy and range far exceeded the norm.

The crossbow car could not fire many arrows at once; not only was it space consuming, it also beca the weakest point on the city wall.
