Chapter 104. Dragonification Potion
The “God-Forsaken Land” of Monsa City.
Una held a large blade in her hand. After scaring away those who saw that her house had no door and wanted to co inside to “stay” for the night, she hurried to speed up the repair of the door.
Using a few small tools with practiced ease, she fixed the door back onto the fra.
By the ti the sky began to darken slightly, she had finally finished repairing it and let out a long sigh of relief.
“Finally finished before nightfall. If it hadn’t been repaired before dark…”
Una shuddered.
She knew exactly what would happen if the door had remained broken. So of the people outside who did not even have houses would have desperately tried to force their way in.
Even though she had the advantage of a weapon, there was no guarantee those people would value their lives. If just a few of them rushed her together, she might not be able to deal with them.
Fortunately, the repair was complete, allowing her to survive what she believed to be the second darkest day of her life.
The darkest day had been the day she was driven here.
If not for the help of her now-deceased uncle, she might have died here on the very first day.
Originally, Una had been an ordinary resident of Monsa City. Her family had lived in Monsa for many years and had always been nothing more than a common household.
Then good news arrived.
Her older brother had distinguished himself during a hunt and was granted the chance to drink the Divine Water. After drinking it, tests showed that he qualified to join the Guard Squad.
The entire family was filled with joy, celebrating the arrival of better days.
If soone in the household gained great strength after drinking the Divine Water, their status would rise considerably. Their lives could even improve.
But during the three days when her brother went to et the High Priest, none of them saw him return.
Then, early on the morning of the third day, guards surrounded their ho and delivered a terrifying piece of news.
After drinking the Divine Water, her brother had suddenly died.
The High Priest was enraged and declared that this was an act of blasphemy against the gods. His anger extended to the entire family.
Because Una was still young, and her uncle was already gravely ill, the two of them narrowly escaped execution. Every other mber of the family was put to death.
Una took a deep breath and forced herself not to dwell on the past any longer.
Thinking about it would only make her feel worse.
She stood up and began the next task: bringing over objects to barricade the door and strengthen the defense of the entrance…
But at that mont, the sound of soone touching the door ca from outside, followed by a puzzled voice.
“I rember it being here. Why isn’t this door broken?”
Una recognized the voice imdiately.
It belonged to the two people who had barged into her house that morning.
Her hair stood on end. She imdiately shouted loudly:
“Don’t break my door! I’ll open it myself!”
She knew the door could not stop those two people. It was better to open it herself rather than repair it all over again later.
---
Una hid in a corner and watched as the two of them cleared a table and placed several small tools on top of it.
These had been taken by Fulan from a nearby house along the way. After all, she needed containers to make potions.
“Grind these plants into powder and pass them to .”
She instructed Welinte to assist her while she poured so liquid from a bucket into a wooden bowl.
Fulan frowned slightly at the scene before her.
Ever since she had started earning money from making potions, she had never used such crude tools.
Even so, she remained confident that she could produce a true dragonification potion.
She poured the powdered plants Welinte had prepared directly into the bowl, then began rging the ingredients using her ntal Power.
After reaching the Extraordinary level in Pharmacology, Fulan had discovered sothing long ago.
As long as she used strong ntal Power to forcibly fuse the materials together, she could produce potions of perfect quality without strictly following any procedural steps.
Those traditional steps rely allowed the materials to blend more naturally and release their full effects.
But for Fulan, following those steps consud too much ti.
The potions she produced through direct fusion were not much worse in effect than those made through proper procedures—only slightly inferior in minor details.
Besides, she did not even know the actual formula for dragonification potions, so she had no choice but to fuse the ingredients directly.
Welinte watched as the liquid in the wooden bowl began to glow, signaling that the potion-making process had begun.
However…
She hesitated to speak.
She had seen other alchemists brew potions before, and their process had been far more elaborate.
They would pour in one-third of the ingredients first, blend them halfway, then add the remaining materials while flipping the potion container repeatedly to keep the liquid from spilling…
But Fulan’s thod seed sowhat crude.
She watched as Fulan fused the mixture halfway, added a portion of one ingredient, fused it again with ntal Power, added so more of another ingredient, fused it again…
In truth, Fulan simply did not know the exact proportions.
If there seed to be too much red liquid, she added so powder. If there seed to be too much powder, she added more red liquid.
She repeated this process over and over until the mixture gradually approached the correct balance.
Suddenly, a flash of white light burst above the wooden bowl.
The liquid inside turned orange, and bubbles began to form on its surface.
“Is it finished?” Welinte asked eagerly.
She had been watching Fulan hold the sa posture for a long ti. Now that the ntal Power was no longer blending the potion, she grew impatient.
It was only natural for her to be anxious.
This potion determined whether she could pass this Spirit Realm trial. She desperately wanted to know whether the potion had succeeded.
“It’s finished,” Fulan replied.
In truth, it had been finished for quite so ti. She had simply been observing the potion’s details.
Because she had repeatedly interrupted the fusion process and kept adding more materials, the quality of the potion was naturally far from perfect. By her estimation, it was still quite so distance away from perfect quality.
But while observing the potion, she discovered sothing astonishing.
Normally, different potions required different quantities to produce their full effect. Many potions only required one-third or even one-quarter of a bottle. Drinking more simply extended the duration.
However, the potion in front of her required an unexpectedly small amount to produce its full effect.
By her estimation, this single bowl of potion could affect six people.
And after roughly counting the materials in her possession, she realized sothing else.
The materials she had were enough to produce dragonification potions for several hundred people.
That doesn’t make sense.
If such a small amount counted as one dose, why had so much of the red liquid in that pit been consud?
She did not think Monsa City had that many people. At most, perhaps one hundred thousand.
Moreover, not everyone was allowed to drink the Divine Water.
So where had all those materials gone?
“Lai.”
Welinte had called out several tis before Fulan finally snapped out of her thoughts.
Fulan placed the bowl on the table and said slowly,
“I’ve finished making the potion, but I’m not sure about its exact effects. Do you want to drink it first?”
Welinte frowned.
There was no way around it. Without the formula, they naturally could not know the exact results.
Then suddenly, she had an idea.
She turned to look at Una in the corner.
Una blinked and stared at the glowing liquid inside the bowl.
