Chapter 122. Dragon Hunt (Part 2)

Fran smiled slightly at the corner of her mouth, not responding to Quentin’s roar.

She carefully felt the radiance in her hands, sensing that after using the previous attack, the radiance could still be used five more tis.

This was Fran’s trump card in the battle. It was a gift from the Lord of Radiance, who said that, under the current circumstances, this was the maximum assistance she could receive—no more.

Its effect was to unleash powerful attacks or enhance priestly skills.

Defeating a second-tier dragon with just this would still be difficult; so additional help was necessary.

And with nearly two hundred 'Half-Dragons,' that gap would be filled. Not to ntion, Fran had also crafted many chanical aids.

When Quentin began to fall, the surrounding 'Half-Dragons' had already started adjusting other crossbows to aim at it. These machines were crucial weapons to deal with the dragon.

She had made twelve crossbows in total, using five earlier to shoot at Quentin in the air because she knew the hit rate was low when attacking airborne targets.

If they all missed, it would have been a waste of effort. That’s why she initially had only five crossbows fire as a test.

It turned out that using a flash grenade and so ranged weapons was insufficient to make a flying dragon fall. In the end, she had to use the Radiant skill once more to bring the dragon down.

Otherwise, attacking a flying dragon with no reliable way to hit would have been futile. Only by bringing the dragon down could her preparations have any effect.

Quentin’s roar went unanswered, and the pressure on it continued to increase, causing it to lash out in retaliation.

A simple fireball shot out from its mouth instantly. This ti, it didn’t charge up the attack; it was a quick, imdiate release.

The fireball scorched the air as it sped toward Fran, crashing into a thin barrier of light and exploding. The flas scorched the nearby 'Half-Dragons.'

"Ugh!" One 'Half-Dragon' endured the pain and shouted loudly, "Everyone! Start the attack!!"

"Kill the evil dragon!!"

It was as though a sodium pellet had been dropped into calm water. The charge began, and the dragonization potion gave the 'Half-Dragons' enhanced physical strength, now fully taking effect.

As the command to charge was given, the sounds of arrows being violently shot erupted from both sides of Quentin.

These arrows were even larger, twice the weight of the previous ones, and when they struck the dragon scales, they shattered the protruding scales.

"Ah!" The dragon head bent downward in pain.

Seven arrows embedded deeply into Quentin’s body, and the pain made the dragon cry out in agony, revealing how much damage the attack had caused.

Lyle was at the front of the group, and after hearing the High Priest Angmar’s account a few days ago, he knew this dragon would destroy Monsa.

Adding to that, the fact that this dragon had been transford by the High Priest further fueled his hatred.

He hated the High Priest for tolerating the priests who fabricated false charges, sending innocent people into that wretched place.

Lyle raised a hoe high and swung it with all his might at the dragon’s body. However, the hard dragon scales only scraped off a few fragnts, not causing much harm to Quentin.

But Lyle had anticipated that the damage they caused would only gradually wear down the dragon’s scales over ti, which was part of their strategy.

He quickly adjusted the angle and scraped off another small piece of dragon scale. They knew that using normal weapons might not hurt the dragon, no matter how hard they tried.

But they could reduce the thickness of Quentin’s scales, making the crossbows and Fran’s attacks more effective. To achieve this, they specifically selected weapons that could scrape off more scale fragnts.

The 'Half-Dragons,' wielding hoes and pickaxes, worked tirelessly to remove every dragon scale from Quentin’s body.

Quentin was furious. As a true dragon, its dignity was being trampled by these humans who lacked any dragon blood.

It quickly gathered energy, ignoring the 'Half-Dragon' that had used a hoe to strike a scale near its eye.

Quentin twisted its neck, turning its head downward and firing a fireball.

The fireball exploded on contact with the ground, sending a blast of flas that sent the 'Half-Dragons' surrounding it flying.

In an instant, the 'Half-Dragons' surrounding Quentin were all thrown into the air by the exploding fireball. Their clothes were burned with large holes, and their skin turned purplish-red.

Quentin was enraged by the people in the shadows releasing the arrows. It twisted its neck like an eel and quickly turned its head toward the direction where an arrow had flown.

Its massive dragon mouth opened wide, revealing sharp black fangs. A red light erged from its throat, followed by a great burst of fla shooting from its mouth.

About eighty ters away from the battlefield, several 'Half-Dragons' were loading the crossbow bolts. They struggled to move the arrows into place and were preparing to pull the bowstrings.

A beam of fla shot from afar, engulfing everyone and reducing the crossbows to ash.

When the flas died down, only charred bodies and shattered scales remained, with only a few faint breaths left from the human-shaped figures, and a pile of black ashes.

Just as Quentin was about to target the remaining crossbows, before it could unleash the fireball it had charged up, a flash of light appeared in front of its eyes. Then, the strength from both above and below forced its mouth shut.

This was Fran using her Radiant divine technique once again. This ti, the effect was significant, and she didn’t waste the opportunity she had seized.

Quentin’s dragon mouth bit down hard on the fireball, causing it to explode in its mouth. The heat made it extrely uncomfortable.

At that mont, eleven arrows shot from different directions, exploding into its body. Two arrows pierced through its dragon wings, becoming stuck together.

It could no longer fly. Not only were its dragon wings damaged, but the nurous arrows lodged in its body made it too heavy to take off.

Fran noticed that sothing was off with its condition. She poured all the remaining radiance into one powerful attack.

A massive sword of light fell from the sky, carrying imnse kinetic energy as it plunged into Quentin’s back. The impact caused its dragon wings to loosen, and a large circular hole appeared in its body.

The shockwave from the falling sword spread outward, extinguishing nearly all the torches in the area, leaving only a few embers glowing on the battlefield.

Lyle hurriedly lit a torch and approached the dragon’s body. He saw its head lying limply on the ground, its massive dragon eyes wide open.

After checking for himself, Lyle was sure the dragon was dead.

Lyle felt as if all his strength had drained away. He fell to his knees, enduring the burning pain on his body, and shouted to the heavens.

"The evil dragon is dead!!!"

The battlefield went silent for a mont, and then soone responded.

"We won!!!"

Everyone imdiately put down their weapons and began celebrating their victory.

Lyle scanned the area, pausing on each person for a mont.

But he couldn’t find the figure in the golden robe. Only the footprint pattern in the dirt where the person had been standing remained.
