Now that Chen Feng has money, so things have changed.
Fortunately, his parents treat him as they always have, and his brother Chen Rui is sensible enough not to let their brotherly bond sour.
In the end, all of this is stirred up by money.
Money is a good thing, but after many grassroots people get rich, family ties, friendships, and love can all potentially be tainted.
It’s what they call gaining so, losing so.
Since the incident with his brother borrowing money, Chen Feng finds staying at ho increasingly dull.
The next day, when he was once again alone at ho, he felt even more bored.
After having the breakfast his mom left for him, he tidied up a bit and planned to return to Xiu Zhou.
As he was just stepping out the door, he saw a red BMW M8 speeding towards him in the distance. Cars of that class were a rare sight in their countryside.
Chen Feng just glanced at it and continued walking towards his own Cayenne.
Unexpectedly, the red sports car suddenly sped up, its engine roaring, and stopped in front of his house in the blink of an eye, making a screech with its tires on the ground due to the sudden braking.
As Chen Feng looked over in surprise, he saw Guo ngyao stepping out after the car door opened.
Chen Feng was stunned.
He really didn’t expect Guo ngyao to suddenly show up at his ho, not to ntion how she knew he was still staying in his hotown. He hadn’t told her before.
When Guo ngyao, wearing sunglasses and a fitted black business suit, walked up to him, he finally reacted and asked, "What brings you here?"
"Can’t I co here?" Guo ngyao retorted coldly.
Chen Feng didn’t pander to her, responding with displeasure, "You suddenly co to my house unannounced, it’s definitely not right."
As Chen Feng stood firm, Guo ngyao relented and explained, "I just ca to see your parents. After all, they were very nice to when I was a guest at your house last ti."
Chen Feng frowned and said irritably, "My parents aren’t ho."
Guo ngyao glanced at the tightly closed door of Chen Feng’s house and didn’t seem to think he was lying. She just asked, "Then when will they be back? Noon?"
"They aren’t coming back at noon." Chen Feng replied, frowning again, "What’s this about? Isn’t your company busy? And how do you know I’m still here?"
Guo ngyao rolled her eyes at him and said, "Don’t flatter yourself. I really didn’t co to see you today, and I didn’t expect you to still be here. I ca specifically to visit your parents, and I even have gifts for them in the trunk."
Of course, Chen Feng didn’t quite believe her. Just as he was about to say more, neighbors, aunties, and idle folks nearby curiously gathered around.
The Cayenne Chen Feng drove was already an eye-catcher in this village, and now Guo ngyao’s bright red sports car attracted even more attention.
"Ah Feng, is this your new girlfriend?"
A familiar-looking old man teased loudly.
Then a man in his forties chid in half-jokingly with a hint of jealousy, "Ah Feng’s new girlfriend seems to be wealthier than him. This sports car must be worth two or three million. Ah Feng, did you land a wealthy woman? Haha."
People around laughed along.
But a friendly aunt who had a good relationship with Zhao Xiaolan stepped in to defend Chen Feng: "Don’t talk nonsense, Ah Feng’s girlfriend is Tingting. We’ve all t her. Ah Lan is fond of that Tingting. She said they’re getting engaged by the end of the year."
"Just because Ah Lan likes her doesn’t an Ah Feng has to," soone retorted.
Soone else laughed and said, "Ah Feng has so much money now, what’s wrong with having one or two more girlfriends?"
Chen Feng was only sowhat familiar with these folks and didn’t have deep ties. Seeing their chatter, he imdiately put on a stern face and loudly rebutted, "She’s my classmate. Mind your own business if you’re that idle."
Chen Feng disliked these gossipy, ddleso village folks. Back when his parents ran a convenience store, they still sowhat cared about saving face for everyone.
Now that people were mocking and taunting him and Guo ngyao, Chen Feng certainly wouldn’t indulge them.
Ultimately, it’s just that these people felt emotionally imbalanced. After all, Chen Feng’s family’s living conditions used to be on par with theirs, if not worse, and now Chen Feng got rich and drives a Cayenne in Xiu Zhou, while Chen Rui operates a successful car wash business, prospering every day. Their family’s prosperity is evident now.
Of course, there were those who tried to curry favor with them before but didn’t gain much of an advantage. The rest are just jealous.
Envy is everywhere, even more so in rural areas.
And Chen Feng’s current status is different, mainly because he has money, much more than these folks.
So, when Chen Feng lost his temper, no one in the crowd dared to make any more sarcastic comnts.
The Chen family is different now, and these people certainly wouldn’t dare to really offend them. Furthermore, many have heard about how the two brothers practically monopolize the car wash business in town and know their family has connections and a background.
Chen Feng didn’t bother with these idlers anymore, nodded towards Guo ngyao, and then turned back into the house.
Seeing this, Guo ngyao quickly went to the trunk, grabbed two large gift boxes, and jogged to catch up with Chen Feng, soon entering his house.
The door remained open, and Chen Feng sat on a chair not far from the entrance, able to see the two parked cars and a few lingering idlers. With so distance between them, they weren’t worried about being overheard.
Guo ngyao set down the two gift boxes and sat on the chair opposite Chen Feng.
"So, what brings you here?" Chen Feng asked seriously.
Guo ngyao took off her sunglasses, crossed one long leg over another, and leisurely looked at Chen Feng, speaking casually, "I really ca to see your parents. You might not know, but since I visited your ho last ti, I’ve been visiting them every ten days or so. Haven’t they ntioned it to you?"
Chen Feng was taken aback; his parents really hadn’t ntioned it, which only indicated that they didn’t want him to know or that they didn’t particularly favor her.
Seeing his expression, Guo ngyao knew the answer and sighed, "So your parents never ntioned it."
Chen Feng sighed internally but took the opportunity to say, "Now that you know, you should understand my parents’ attitude toward you."
"So, you intend to choose Wu ngting then? When are you planning to marry her?"
Despite the calmness in Guo ngyao’s tone, her eyes were chilling.
Chen Feng wasn’t afraid of her. After all, he hadn’t been the initiator between them, and from the start, both had an understanding, and he had made his stance clear. If they were to break up now, he couldn’t be blad.
"Personally, I don’t wish to remarry. But my mom is pressuring to get engaged to ngting by the end of the year. I’ll try to stop it. But if I really can’t, I’ll have to get engaged to her first. After all, I’m a filial son and have no choice."
